So Much For Vacation....

Already Wedsnesday of our supposed Vacation week. It has been a busy one, with us trying to get as much stuff done that we don't normally have time to take care of.

Last Sunday we got a new-to-us mini-van for the Wife from RM. So Monday we went and got the registration/title work done. We did have a nice little breakfast at McD's, too. Tuesday my Doodad and I got to spend some time together, as we went up tot he park to play, then stopped for ice cream. Rounded out our afternoon with the movie "Coco" in which she fell asleep. Which was good because I was beat. Took the Wife, Boys, Daughter and Doodad out for dinner.

Today is my youngest Son's birthday. Turns 14. Have a plumber scheduled between 12-6pm to come look t the water heater. Been having issues keeping the pilot lit. Wife has CPR recert class mid day, then some shopping for a gift for the Son.

Thursday I take my car to the shop and drop it off. Has a few smaller electrical issues to be addressed.I think from there the rest of the week is clear. I know at some point I need to get out and find some pants. All I have a re shorts basically. I figure I can try to look a bit more presentable at the new job when I start. Hoping to find some decent khakis or blue jeans.

Mid week and I am already worn out....I must be getting older.

Vacation Week!

The Wife and I are both on vacation this week. As par for the course, it is supposed to be rainy and dreary all day today. But the rest of this week should be fine weather-wise. No special plans. My Doodad is coming up from Tucson with her parents and are going to be in town thru Wednesday. So I am sure we will get some time with them.

After vacation week, I return to work for three days, then I am done there and hopefully starting at the new place right away. It is "contract" work, so am hoping they will have a spot available for me to start... If not, I am continuing to pursue other avenues whilst waiting.

In other news, I guess we are getting a mini-van. Had been waiting on the MIL inheiratence to begin looking on replacing the Wife's vehicle. I guess the RM decided to get rid of her van. Looks like we are getting it to use until the Wife decides to get something else.

I just noticed I don't have the spell checker option on here anymore... guess you'll just have to take my bad spellings as they are...

Vacation and Changes

This last week hasn't been a cheap one for me. Last week I caught the edge of a curb and had some tire damage. A popped tire and a bent rim kind of damage. Unfortunately, the previous owner of my car had put 22-inch performance rims on this car, and no body locally had them. Long story short, ended up with a 20-inch rim and tire, but still rides fine. in the next couple weeks I will get a same style/size to even out the car (in my opinion).

Then this morning, went to go to work and the car wouldn't start. hauled the battery to the local parts store. Yep. Bad battery. Put a new one in, started the car just fine. Went in to put up tools and wash hands, came back out and wouldn't start. After 15-20 attempts at starting, I got it to turn over. I called into work and about 8am I went out and tried to start it again to see about getting it to the shop. About 20 tries later I managed to turn it over and start it. Turns out the starter was going bad. Got that replaced and this evening have the car home and ready for work tomorrow.

Speaking of work, I only have two days this week then start my vacation. After my vacation, I work Mon, Tues, Wed, and then am gone from the company. I had that interview and was pretty much hired over the phone. Best news I have had in a couple years. So... starting a new job soon.

What is Interesting?

I have an interview this week. New job environment. Something I have no clue about. But the job is in their "tools" department, and based on simple info my friend gave his friend, about how I work my parts department at the current job, this other guy thinks I will be great at this one. Wednesday is my interview. And I have to bring a resume, which I have not used in over 15+ years. So some updating is being done this weekend.

Anxiousness. Yeah that whole job interview thing.... and re-making my resume. Nerves are frazzled.

I started a book tonight called "The English Major" by Jim Harrison. The basic story sounded good by description, but now I am a good third of the way though it, and it is ...weird.

But it brought me back to why I should maybe write something.

Got thoughts? I do. Thinking on them.

It Has Been Awhile

I am working on a broken keyboard. Seems I spilled  a large soda on it, and though supposedly spill-proof, there are many keys just sticky. And I admit I don't want to spend the time to buy a new$15 keyboard.

Today marks the 3rd child hitting the age of 16. yee fricking haw.

sticky keys are pissing me off...... maybe more later

Changes Coming Around....

It has been quite while since I posted last. Writing about the same issues and problems going on in my life just seemed to depress me. Plus the fact that nothing changed actively to fix those problems ... just didn't give me any content to write about.

But things have changed now.

Christmas came with us mostly in our newer abode. There are still things we are going through at the old homestead, tat may or may not make it here. But with Christmas, comes Santa, and again I played for my little Doodad (who is about 2 1/2). She loved it this year!

As the time crossed into the New Year, I realized it was going to be like the last two years. Stuck in a job that didn't care about me. I don't recall if I had mentioned that a few months ago I had a discussion with my boss, mainly about how the "job" was slowly breaking me physically, and I was unsure how long I could do the job - the physical portion. That was six months ago. No changes.

Mid-January I made a decision, and on the 30th, I gave the company my Notice of Resignation. I was generous. I gave them my last day as March 4th... so just over a whole month to find me a replacement (which they had not even thought about the last 6 months) and give me time to train them. This past Wednesday, less than week, they have someone in there to train, and now I realize how short of a time I have to teach them all that I do. The partner I work with that started a year ago, is already saying things like" I didn't know we are supposed to do that..." and other similar phrases.

Did I mention the best part? Of this last month there, I have the lst week of February off on vacation. Then back for three days then gone.

Do I have another job? Sort of. I went through a phone interview process with company that does documentation research into data breaches, and similar type instances. I am on a "busy" status until I leave my company, then go "active" until they find an opening for me. There may be times with a few days in-between contracts, but at the higher pay amount, it shouldn't be an issue. More pay, closer to home a bit, able to set my own hours, no physical labor, no answering phones, and did I say MORE PAY?!? I mean, the current company asked if I would let them counter, I said yes, if they start at X dollars more than I make now. Boss said nope no can do. I would have turned it down anyways, even if they paid more.

So, finally, things are looking up. I feel better, about myself, about Life in general. MAybe now there will be more that I notice in life to write about.

November Has Arrived

Halloween is over. Thanksgiving is coming up. Christmas after that. In two months the year will be over, and I think back over what has happened this year, and how it has changed things. New house. One (newer) car. Three accidents, two damaged vehicles. My back has decided to start getting worse. I was off Friday since I couldn't hardly walk when I woke up. That's been twice in the last month. Today it is a bit better, but still not back to normal. At least the exercises from the PT, from my work comp injury two years ago) helps get that disc slipped back into place. It just takes an unknown amount of days and exercises. Took three weeks last time.

I haven't heard officially, but suspect the Middle Son and the band will be going to State this year for competition. They were to do the Senior Walk last night, but he refused to do it. The Wife had even made up a poster for the walk. He's stubborn like his father.... and more traits that I wish weren't shared.

I talked to the Boss at work last month about trying to find me a different position to work. The current job is getting too much physically for me to accomplish. Especially the way it is wreaking havoc on my back. He was "going to see" what could happen, but of course, like everything else there, it hasn't happened yet. Not sure if it will. So, I am still looking for another job. Not having much luck there either.

I need to start looking for gifts for the family for Christmas. I hate shopping. I think Amazon may get quite a bit of my purchases this year. That is if I am able to find anything for anyone. I've never been much of a people person and figuring out gifts for them. Usually I get the ideas from The Wife, and I just buy them. But, The Wife has a bday coming up as well, and the kids never get her anything, so I have to triple search for things for her, as gifts from the boys and from me. Yee Haw. Fun stuff.

Guess I should spend some of this down-time doing some shopping online. Though, I get distracted by books and playing Warcraft.
