(Yawn) Another Monday

I slept really good last night - for me anyways. Up just before 7am to start the workday, and just feeling a little dragging in the mental department. I picked up some of that Mtn Dew Amp over the weekend. I found if I have one in the morning it helps me feel more alert. It's not an energy drink like Monster (though there is a version out there) but this is the 'gamer fuel' one, so not as much caffiene I'm guessing. I know regular energy drinks really get my heart to beating, and not in a good way. This one doesn't do that, so works good for me.

Yep. Working a full day today it looks like, with a return to work again tomorrow. This project is over the projected time end, so will how many days are left of it. At least I'm working!

Well, guess I should load up some news radio and find out what is the latest with Russia and the Ukraine.

Another 16th Year Milestone

The Youngest Son turns 16 years old today. The fourth (and final) child of our loins, has hit that year for his drivers license, though, he has not shown much interest in getting it, or doing the tests for the permit, etc. He has asked me questions and I have directed him to the training manual, but as of yet, I don't think he has downloaded it to study. That's on him.

Either way he has decided for his dinner he would like Red Robin. I know, I figured he would want somewhere more expensive, like one of the steakhouses, but if that's what he wants.... We are pushing it to Wednesday instead of today though, so his two older brothers can go as well. It is the only night they have off work together to attend. RM and PT are coming by today to take him out for lunch, as their birthday gift to him. The middle Son came over today early (when he got off work)_ to hang out before going to get a couple new tires. The one they had plugged went flat again, and he decided to replace one of the others that is getting thin on tread. So he 'woke' his younger sin with his birthday "spankings". I'm sure there was plenty of rough-housing going on, and glad his room is down the hall from us, as I didn't wake to their shenanigans.

No set plans for this weekend. I think once both the boys are gone, the Wife and I may go out for lunch, and get some shopping done.

Friday I finished work with my 40 hours for the week, and there is more work. Though they added around 10 extra people, the workload is carrying into this next week. Not sure how many days though, but will take what I can. I am sure I will be off minimum a few days once done, before being transferred to a new project (of the 'several we have in the pipeline').

Is It Really Over?

In theory, today is the last day of this project. Over the last few days they have enlisted the aid of additional people, to help make the deadline I assume. Looking at the workload (that I can see)I guess it'll be about a bit more than half a day of work. Hope it is true of another project we will be able to switch to after this one.

Vacations. I was reading this morning that the dear RM and PT have made arrangements to travel a bit north this August for a vacation. I know they usually do this around their anniversary (which is fine). I got to thinking, well maybe I could use a vacation, too. Now, one might think I already get one, with some of the time off between projects (last time was a month and a half) but that truly isn't a vacation. I'm still at home dealing with regular things. Vacations are to relax, and put the 'everyday worries' aside for a short time.

Only, I don't like flying (having to wear a mask, the whole rig-a-ma-roll of the getting onboard process. I could always ask the Wife, but she would say go to Tucson - because Doodad is there. But you know what? Sometimes I would rather just get away from everyone. Several years ago we went to Sedona for our 25th, and it was nice to get away from everyone for 2-3 days. I don't think I would do Sedona again, but still. I dunno. Got time to think it out since the Wife don't even know I'm thinking about it.

Middle Son texted me this morning with a pic of a flat tire. Seems the one that went flat last weekend, was able to be plugged, but ended up flat today. I sent back that at least he had the experience of setting an appt and know how long it will take at the tire store. He said he is going to go ahead and get 2 tires, as he has another that is getting very thin on tread. Though it may be mundane stuff, it's still good to hear from the Son. Which the Oldest Son would do the same. I don't think I have heard from him since Christmas.

Tomorrow is the Youngest's birthday, when he will be turning 16 years of age. I have already gotten his gifts ( a three book set he had asked for) so am ready. He hasn't picked out where he would like to eat out at (our little tradition - started by RM &PT). We might move it to another night though, so his older brothers may have a chance at joining us as well.

Welp, I should get to working since I may be off work after today....

Mid-Week Nothings

Welcome to another day with the d00d. I'm working, so that is a good thing. Looks like this project may carry on into next week, which is more than was estimated. But it works in my favor, so not a bad thing, right?

I had been working away for a good 40 minutes this morning when I heard a faint noise/disturbance, behind me off to the side. I thought, had one of the cats snuck in here when I was last coming in? Looking around the floor, and under the Wife's desk, I see no cats. I glance up to the window, and realize it is raining, and that was what I was hearing.

Oh. Joy. Rain. It looks overcast enough that it may be doing this all day. Normally rain doesn't bother me, and I like days like this to grab a book and just read. Today though, makes me want to just go back to bed. Dreary. Maybe it's because I have to work, instead of reading a book. I don't know.

Well, work ain't gonna get done 'less I'm on it.

A Quick Break

Feels good to be starting another week off with being able to work. Add to that, the Company adjusted the hours so that I can start at 7 (MST) so an earlier star means an earlier finish for the day. Allegedly, the project ends this week, but who knows. Also, they say that there are more projects in the pipeline that we should be re-assigned immediately after this one. We will see if that is true.

With working again, not much new is going on. Daughter and family were up Friday and we were able to go to supper together before they returned home that same day. Sometimes it is nice to know people from the pub, as the place we went, Fuddruckers, a burger joint, the GM is one of those people. He discounted my bill 50% without even asking me. When you are feeding 6+ it is nice to have that kind of discount!

Middle Son had stopped by Saturday to help the Wife plant some flowers around the yard. He also arrived to find two nails in one of his tires. He woke the youngest to "train" him how to change a tire. Today he is back over, after work, to go to Discount Tire and get a replacement. His appointment isn't for a couple more hours, so he is napping on my bed.

Guess I should get back to work.

Ready To Get Going

Yesterday was a wasted work day. Finally got access to all of the programs needed, and had just started into doing the actual work, when they told all of us to log off and come back the next day. There are about 16 of us on this project, and only 4 of us had access to everything needed and were able to get started. Since the majority were having issues though, they wanted everyone offline until they fixed the issues. So instead of a regular eight-hour day, I ended up with 3.5 hours. Then we got an email that we cannot start earlier than 8am (MST) which means I have to work until 4pm, to get my hours, when I would really like to start at 6:30-7am. Sigh.

So I am up at 6:30 this morning, and cannot login until closer to 8. Joy.

Nothing else to write about. Middle Son came by this morning after getting off work. He does sometimes and helps by running the Youngest to Zero Hour at school. He said he might be back by to do laundry (free here versus the $$ in the machines at the apartment complex) and would maybe pick up lunch for him and I. I told him whatever he wanted to do, I am here all day.

Guess I am gonna go find something to do....

Will I Get To Work?

Today is Project Start day (allegedly) with the Company. Last night I finally got the emails allowing me access to the system. I login this morning, at the required time, and find out that though I do have access to the programs, they have not added me to the MS Teams channel for the project, where the required information files, etc, are located. So, no pre-review of the project info. I emailed to the Lead Mgr, and am waiting to hear back, or have the access granted to me. Can't work without that info. Can't work without the other password I need for the main program as well. Gonna be one of those mornings I guess.

I did end up at the pub with friends for the game yesterday. I was able to meet up with a good friend I had not seen in a couple months. The game was so-so. I had an alright time. I made sure not to stay out late since I had work today.

Well, that was quick. Received access to Teams, and now they are working ont he other issue, as I am not the only one having problems. Guess I will be working today (YAY!).

Let's Get Busy!

Earlier this week, the Company finally contacted me about a project. Of course, I responded within minutes of the email, that I was available and ready. Considering the last project ended at Christmas, my being idle has been making me slowly lose my mind. I did receive confirmation I was going to be on this new project, and the subsequent emails to re-instate my employment through the HR website, etc. Haven't heard about my access to the virtual desktop yet, but hope to this weekend.

I might be taking up a "second job" as well. A friend is starting a company, and needs people for overnight work. Basically sitting around at an apartment complex, cruise through making sure none of the facilities are on fire, then sit til the next half hour drive through. Sounds easy, but I wonder how bored I may get. Either way, while he is waiting final insurance work, and whatnot to complete, then he and I will sit down and discuss. Pay is about what I make on projects, so that would be good as well.

The Wife and I went out to breakfast this morning at a nice, little place a couple miles down the road, that we like. Then after a quick detour back home, went out to Peoria to one of the discount grocery places we like. Picked me up some snacky-snacks for while working.

Superbowl is tomorrow. I'll be up at one of my pubs to hang out with friends. Don't think I will stay the whole game, but will see.

Starting It Up on a Saturday

The Youngest woke me early this morning, around 5:20. Sure, he was only returning to his room after using the bathroom, but it woke me, and I was not able to return to sleep. So, I've wasted the past couple hours pretty much just reading through social media, bored out of my mind.

I know I need to get over to Lowe's at some point today. The handle on our screen door has broken, and if latched, cannot be opened from the outside (as I found out the other night). I mean to do it yesterday, but it slipped my mind, until I was just too lazy to go get it done. I might not even do it today, and let the Wife go and pick it up. I prefer to not go shopping if I don't have to. I have no issues doing the install.

Nothing on the weekend agenda (other than the handle) that I am aware of. Of course the regular stuff still needs to be done: laundry, dishes, etc.

Allergies, Death, and What's Next

Argh! Yesterday was a terrible day. For whatever reason, my allergies were in full effect, and the pill I take daily for them did nothing to help alleviate. Itchy, watery eyes, causing the nose to constantly be runny, which caused drainage if snot to go down the throat, tickling enough to cause me to cough. Needless to say, by bedtime my eyes and nose felt rubbed raw from all the rubbing and blowing. I even did some Vick's rub to try to ease some of the issues - with no luck. And let's add in to the mix the stomach bug I have/had, so was doing the backyard trots most of the day as well. It is too early this morning to tell if I still have an upset stomach or not, but already the eyes and nose are running.

I'm sure I had mentioned at some point in the past almost three years, that we had inherited two cats from when my MIL had passed away. Well, the other night, the older of the two started passing away. I say started, because you just knew that he was not going to pull through. Lack of use of the back legs, no desire to eat/drink. From past experience, I knew that there was no need to go racking up a vet bill for something they cannot do anything about. I also really didn't want to pay upwards of $200 for euthanasia and disposal. I made him as comfortable as I could yesterday, and when the Wife got home, I left it up to her - after all, it's her cat. It was decided we would just make him as comfortable as we could, and just wait. I have not checked on him this morning, but am hoping he has passed in the night. The middle Son will be over this week, and we can dig a small plot in the yard for Nimbus - even if they say you aren't supposed to bury your pets in the yard. Guess I will find out how he fared here in a few when the Wife wakes for work.

Still no work yet. A friend had forwarded an email for similar work from another company, but I heard nothing, and that was supposed to start today. I'm starting to wonder what am I supposed to do at this point. Nothing coming from the Company I am with, and the three others I have found, contacted, applied at, have not responded to me. Frustrating.

Welp, I've taken my pills this morning, and will have to wait probably at least an hour to tell if the allergy pill is going to work today or not. I should get off here for a few to make sure the Wife is up, and soon thereafter, get the Youngest up and moving so he can catch his bus.
