Let's Raid and Plunder!

Another mid-week has arrived. I am still waiting to hear of any open projects to come along from the Company. It has been several weeks since my last one, and I do not see any hope in the near future, but maybe I will be surprised. I know I am starting to get that 'stir crazy' feeling of being at home and unproductive (employment-wise).

With it being Wednesday, that means it is Raid Night. In Warcraft, the Guild that my Sons (all three) and I are in (called Soldiers of Death) have Raid around 4:30pm my time. I don't always go, as sometimes I tend to go to the pub instead. But the Sons are all on the regular raid team. They'll go at it for about three hours tonight. Sometimes I go along for the first few bosses, but the progression they are working on (goes towards an achievement) is complicated, and I am no where near the level of gear and able to inflict the damage I need to, to play at that level. They "carry" me through the bosses so I have a chance for some gear (and get closer to their level).

The Oldest Son and I spoke (well, texted) the other day. He had mentioned in a conversation awhile back about he and I going out. I followed up on it, and he would like to do it tomorrow. I'm not sure where we might end up, but it will be nice to have some one on one time. He has been quite busy with work, and is still putting in quite a bit of over-time hours, even having moved to a night position. Middle Son came over Monday, to do his laundry, which is fine. We hung out for a bit and talked. He offered to take me out to breakfast, but I wasn't hungry, so we didn't go. He, also, is kept busy with his night-time position at work. Youngest Son is probably just enjoying no school for now. He will have two weeks of Band Camp coming up here shortly.

The Wife has been quite busy with work. Lately she will have to put in 2-3 hours after her normal hours just to stay kept up with paperwork. Seems at her facility, she is the only PT (there whould be at least 2) so she has to do all the evaluations, treatments plans, etc. She does have 2 PTAs that can help administer the treatments, but not prescribe them. Evidently, the Facility has been trying to hire a second PT for many, many months but has not been successful. I think it was last week the Wife mentioned they finally hired someone, but it waas going to be 30 days until they start - if they don't back out of it. So, waiting game on that. Then last night she tells me, they have up to around 20-something patients with Covid, and 5-10 employees as well. I don't know when it gets bad enough to start the Covid wing again, but it must be getting close. They are getting tested twice a week for Covid. At least it is at work, and free.

I guess that is all I have today. Sorry no humor or political views (thank goodness). On a good note, my glucose count today was 120 (one of the best ones yet) and BP was 157/89 (about fair for me at this time).

Is It Really Over?

In theory, today is the last day of this project. Over the last few days they have enlisted the aid of additional people, to help make the deadline I assume. Looking at the workload (that I can see)I guess it'll be about a bit more than half a day of work. Hope it is true of another project we will be able to switch to after this one.

Vacations. I was reading this morning that the dear RM and PT have made arrangements to travel a bit north this August for a vacation. I know they usually do this around their anniversary (which is fine). I got to thinking, well maybe I could use a vacation, too. Now, one might think I already get one, with some of the time off between projects (last time was a month and a half) but that truly isn't a vacation. I'm still at home dealing with regular things. Vacations are to relax, and put the 'everyday worries' aside for a short time.

Only, I don't like flying (having to wear a mask, the whole rig-a-ma-roll of the getting onboard process. I could always ask the Wife, but she would say go to Tucson - because Doodad is there. But you know what? Sometimes I would rather just get away from everyone. Several years ago we went to Sedona for our 25th, and it was nice to get away from everyone for 2-3 days. I don't think I would do Sedona again, but still. I dunno. Got time to think it out since the Wife don't even know I'm thinking about it.

Middle Son texted me this morning with a pic of a flat tire. Seems the one that went flat last weekend, was able to be plugged, but ended up flat today. I sent back that at least he had the experience of setting an appt and know how long it will take at the tire store. He said he is going to go ahead and get 2 tires, as he has another that is getting very thin on tread. Though it may be mundane stuff, it's still good to hear from the Son. Which the Oldest Son would do the same. I don't think I have heard from him since Christmas.

Tomorrow is the Youngest's birthday, when he will be turning 16 years of age. I have already gotten his gifts ( a three book set he had asked for) so am ready. He hasn't picked out where he would like to eat out at (our little tradition - started by RM &PT). We might move it to another night though, so his older brothers may have a chance at joining us as well.

Welp, I should get to working since I may be off work after today....

My Plans Foiled Again

Welcome to my mid-week crap-and-bitch festival.

The boys, already I have gone through two days that were exact replicas of each other. If any two are awake, and in the same room, there is fighting and yelling going on. The only time there was quiet (it seemed anyways) was when one of two of them were still asleep, and at lunch, when everyone had food in their mouth. By the time the Wife got home, both nights I put in a dvd on my computer and turned up the volume to shut them all out. Then I go to bed. So, the bed problem.....

Last night I was awakened by the Wife shutting the bedroom door. As a rule, we always keep it open, in order to hear if there is a sick child, or the animals knock something over and break it, etc. She had shut it as the middle son (with the problem) was whining and crying about not wanting to sleep anywhere but with Mom. It as 1am, and I was awake. I got up, and proceeded to berate him that this was enough. Within 15 minutes, he had tried twice more to creep into our room and into the bed. Both times I caught him, and the second time he got swatted. The third time, about 20 minutes later, was his last attempt, and he was grounded from the computer for the rest of the week, plus he had to go to his Grandma's (at least for Wed.) and work pulling weeds from her yard. He didn't try again, but everytime the Wife moved, or the dog jumped on/off the bed, it woke me looking to see if he was trying to sneak in again. So yes, I am a bit cranky and tired today.

I was able to get to the gym for the first time this week. I am sure if I tried harder I could have been there more, but - anything I say is just an excuse now. I did go this morning, and not happy about the weight as I gained a little back. The boys were all sent with the Wife to her mother's this morning, the goal being for them to work at pulling the weeds from the yard, so there is not just an infestation in what little grass she has growing. I have my doubts it will happen. Also, today is Pool Night, so I don't have to worry about leaving them at home alone for an unspecified amount of time under the command of the oldest. He has a "bossy attitude" like his sister does, and it reflects quite openly.

Did I get enough bitching in? Not yet.... The Wife, though I love her to death (most days) and I love her cooking. But WHY does she have to fix my favorite dishes on the night before I weigh in at the gym? Last night she fixed Turkey enchiladas (one of my favorites, obviously) and I could only have a small helping, as I knew I would weigh in this morning, and did not feel confident. This having to do with a weekly bet with a friend. She seemed disappointed in me (moreso than usual anyways) for not scarfing down two helpings, even after I explained to her why I had not done exactly that. Going to bed with a "feels pretty empty" stomach was not a joyful experience, though I know I actually had enough to eat.

Every bad thing/day seems to have a bit of silver lining though. Guess what I get for lunch today!
