Holiday Weekends and Posting

In the past several years, around mid-August I would throw out the "big invite" for my Birthday celebration. Always on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend, usually 12p-4p (which led into later times as well). Come by, have a drink with me, catch-up, share memories, or just say hi. How long have I been doing this? Five years? Six? And before that it was by word of mouth. Either way, my Birthday coinciding with Labor Day weekend was nothing more than another excuse to drink, get wasted, do stupid things (like drive home). That Era has ended and falls to memories and recounting of experiences to share.

So no 'shin-dig' for my Birthday. This year, I am fine with that. I'm not really in the mood for any crowd (more than 8-10 people) anyways. My medical stuff would turn into the main topic that everyone one wants to know about, as so many people do NOT know. I've kept that circle down to close family and friends, and I don't post anything publicly on social media about it. Here? Ha! All two of you running to the News station yet to get a reporter here? Thought not.

Today I am doing two meetings (AA/Live support) and my Home Group. In both I get to announce that tomorrow (my birthday) is also my 1 year of sobriety. And yes, I am going to ask for a coin! A year ...wow. That's the start of all this liver stuff. The start of making new friends. The start of learning how to take better care of myself through diet, exercise, and mental exercise. The start of learning to fall in love with God again, and improve relationships. So many good things in just one year.

No post tomorrow. I am enjoying the Day!

Another Birthday ...

... is here, and this one is for the Oldest Son, Ralphd00d IV. Today he turns 28, and has turned into a wonderful young man. From holding you in my arms, to you joining me on the Annual Santa Runs, we have been blessed to have such good times.

Slow day today. I have a personal session for the IOP (that usually lasts about 10 minutes) and a Riders meeting tonight. That's my whole day basically.

Nothing to ramble on about this morning. Rough time falling asleep last night, and wasn't able to drift off until near 4am. Up at 7am, a bit tired, but otherwise awake and moving. Now typing, not so much. I was texting with RM, and the errors have begun. What a Monday.

As I gaze into the misty future, I see a possible nap today.

Happy Birthday to Me

Another trip around Sol. Another notch to add to the aging tree (if there were such a thing. Happy Birthday to me.

I celebrated, yet again, yesterday with my friend from Florida. It was good to have a couple hours to catch up in person. It is back to work today, and I started early today due to one of the cats woke me at around 4:30 this morning. At least I will be done early, and have the afternoon to do something for the birthday, like read some more of the book I am on... or something.

Either way, thigns to do, things to celebrate before I am too old.

*YAWN*

I'm a bit tired this morning. I finally made it to bed, probably shortly after midnight lastnight, and found myself awake at just before 5am this morning. Figured I might as well get up and start working. Bonus would be I will be off early this afternoon and have the possibility of a nap, if needed.

Work has been going well. Since they "moved me up" I have been enjoying the solitude of the workday, as in not being interrupted "a million times a day" with notifications/questions from the general MS TEams chat where most of the 'First Level' people are - many of whom I know are just starting to learn how to do this type of work. But ... still. At this level (and higher pay as well) it is much wuieter, as we have more experience and are actually going through most of the first level work to Quality Control it. A bit daunting at times, but much more enjoyable then the alternative - not having a project. No idea how much longer I will be on this one. Last week we knew it would be through this week - hoping for loonger but not sure, or how much.

Saturday it is time for the annual Ralph's Bday Get-Together I have started doing at one of the local pubs I frequently attend. Starts at noon, and goes til whenever you have to leave, the bar closes, or worst case, I leave and you don't want to stick around. Nothing special, just come out and chat and celebrate my bday. Of course, buy your own, and one for me if ya want. No presents are cards needed, just your presence. Last year was a good turn-out as about 15 or so friends stopped by over the course of a 6 hour period. Hoping for much of the same this year.

Speaking of the RBGT event, my brother contacted me, I don't know ... a week, maybe two ago, about the event. Said he wanted to make me a cheesecake for my birthday, and he was asking if I wanted cherry or some other flavor. First I told him don't even think about bringing a dessert to the bar, and secondly, I didn't want anything from him. Also, I KNOW I told him that I was diabetic, so he should be able to figure out that I really don't need some sugar-laden dessert. LAst night he was texting me he was making me a blueberry cheesecake tonight, and wanted to know when he could bring it to me. I told him again, "I told you I won't want it". ALl he says back is, well you know how well I listen. Yeah, that we do... cuz he don't. I hope he doesn't try to waste the time and materials to makeone, because I really don't need it. Worse case, I'll tell him to take it RM's - let her and PT have it, or share with their neighbors. Ha ha Mom!

Welp, I guess I should get to the work thing...
