Let's Own This!

I last wrote in here Aug 4th. That was a Monday. Tuesday I had a meeting (House Comm @ the Post) and somethings came out. Most of it went well, for what I can control as a new Secretary still learning my position. The worst was it was noted I had not provided the minutes/agenda. Well, I do to the committee members, but I never thought about non-members of the House Comm, but other regular members that want to know what is goin g on. Yeah, they can't vote, but they can voice opinion, and I failed to provide them the literature of what we were going to discuss/has been discussed. I felt bad. We corrected in about 5 minutes, and now I know what to do better for all meetings I am a Secretary. Though, I still bitched that I don't have the finances to pay for printer ink for everyone, so I will only provide 10 copies. Members in all my groups can print their own (as far as I am concerned).

Well, there was more to it than that (go figure). Discussion had been going on for a couple months about revising a section of the Policy regarding Inventory. Welp, our Post Cmdr was there this week, and he flat out said, the Chair needs to get with his wordsmith, the Secretary, and make that revision. What?!? I have to word the revision, with approval from the Chair? I'm not a legal person in shape or form. Why am I the "wordsmith"??? After the meeting I approached the Commander about this, and he just looked me in the eye, and said, Ralph, you know your shit. You write your reports VERY well. When the final revision comes through, I'm sure you will do fine. Use small words if needed to explain the purpose, the changes, the need for those changes. It'll be fine.

It doesn't feel that way. Oh should I mention the Commander's Wife is my Aux Secretary/Treasurer, and has been "grooming me to do more leadership ( I heard about this just a few days ago). I'm feeling overwhelmed half the time already, and you want me to do more?!? Sigh. And I don't get paid for any of it....

Gripe over - for now.

I did reach out to my Aux Secretary. Treasurer, and President, in regards to another issue, all via email. I have a conundrum that I need guidance on, hopefully before our Aux meeting on Tuesday. Will see what comes in later today.

It's Friday! It's also the 2nd Friday, so the VFW Riders have our dinner night at the Post tonight. Sloppy Joes, chip, beans, and a dessert for $8 plate - $5 for an additional sandwich. I also have to sell raffle tickets for a 50/50 to go towards the NYE party - don't care, but doing it anyways, because I am on that committee too.

Yesterday was the Middle Son's birthday. I sent a text about midday, but no acknowledgement. Later in the evening, I know he was online playing games with the Youngest, so I know he is okay.

RM's birthday is Saturday! Wish I had the finances and time to do a splash for her.... I mean, I good luncheon/time out, whatever.... but I don't. I know Mom, you will say you don't need one, I just wish I could do one. Maybe next year....

So until next time I need to bitch....

My "I Don't Like It" Post

I'm in one of those moods this morning. Kinda been in this mood since Monday, to be honest. I just don't like anyone, or anything. Last Thursday I had my 3-month check-in with the NP, and we adjusted one of my medications. Also needed to get lab work done to check other things. So I went Friday morning to the office, as they can draw my blood there, and of course, they were having an issue about entry to the building. The electronic lock on the employees door wasn't letting anyone in, so the office wasn't open. I wasn't going to wait around... I had to fast for the blood draw, and was still 'holding' that first pee of the day for the urine sample. So I left.

Then yesterday, I remembered I still needed to get the lab work done. I got up early this morning, with the intent to get up to the office right as they open, get the blood drawn, give the urine sample, and get home to bed for another hour or so. I did make it there by 7am (opening time) but only to find out the lab tech had called out this morning, and they had no idea if there was going to be a replacement. Now the tech is associated with the lab company Sonora Quest, and they just have an in-office person for ease I am guessing. I find it easier, and more convenient than trying to set an appointment with the SQ lab places, especially if it has to be a fasting w/urine sample needed. Morning appointments are hard to get in the Valley, with so many people needing it done as well. So I waited about five minutes before the staff told me there was not going to be a replacement, and I could just go to any SQ facility. So I returned home, figuring I will try again in a couple days.

No word from the Company in regards to any project work. Sigh.

Paris and the Olympics... now there is something I really didn't like. And that is all I am going to say about that.

I might have griped before about the 'new' headset I had recently bought. Supposed to be wireless, but wouldn't work with my computer, etc, etc. Last night, I noticed the Daughter and SIL were online in chat on Discord, so thought I would jump in and say hi. Plugged int he line for the headset, and I could hear them, but they could not hear me. Weird, considering I had just used the headset a few days before with no issues. I messed around with the system settings a bit, and plugging/unplugging the cord. Somehow, I ended up getting the wireless headset to actually be wireless, and work the way it was supposed to!! So now I think I see what I did and how it needs to be set up, for future usage. Kinda happy about that.

The Doctor's office called me a bit earlier (not about the lab stuff) and left a message, as I had not heard my phone ring. Message was about an issue with a prescription. Now yesterday I had gone to the pharmacy to do a pick-up and they told me there was an insurance issue with the new adjusted medication, so I guess that was what the Dr office was calling about. I called back, and the person I talked to said they could not tell why the other person had called me. I mentioned what the pharmacy said about an insurance issue, was told they would look into it, and call me back if more info was needed. WTH? Don't know why you called me? Sigh.

Welp, I think I am going to lay down for a nap.

Frustrated

I am flustered. I am upset. I am impatient. All when it comes to internet speeds. Months ago (read prolly as year(s) plus, I opted for the phone company's DSL service, which was faster than the cable company (which I did not service with). My house is an older home, built well before I was born, and I understand there can be some "tricky" wiring going on, but between the phone company, and the wiring in my home, there was some big hoo-haw about what was going to happen. I say that because a few very short months ago, the amount of upload/download capabilities changed, and not in my favor.

Basically, I got three computers on the same DSL, and then you add in a 4th source on wifi ... pretty much a lot of service being used at the same time. I noticed lags. it happens. I'm cheap. I don't have the most expensive package. The last month or more, I am down at least a third of the availability I should have. I call them, they say it is my phoneline. I tell them to fix their problem. They come back a week later saying it is the lines in my house, and that costs extra for them to diagnose.

Fuck everyone out for a buck.

Domain name is up for renewal this month. Having probs with internet thanks to dumbass phone company. Am I done?

Hell no!
