Issues

The past eleven days have been stressful for me. Things that needed to change in my life were brought before me, and needed to be addressed. Several of those things have been taken care of, others are in process, and a very few I am still deciding on how I will handle to get the result that is best for me. Yes, it sounds selfish, and in truth, it is. But I don't care. If it is what I feel is needed to be changed, then so be it.

I turned 50 on Labor Day. That weekend was a nice one. Saturday I had gotten together with a few close friends and had a few drinks at the pub. I didn't stay late, though, I admit to having a couple more beers than I should have.... but it was a birthday celebration! Sunday I spent at home, recuperating mostly. A good portion of Monday was spent just being idle around the house. Monday evening I was able to get all four kids, with their families/SO's all to dinner at Texas Roadhouse and had a wonderful evening meal. Yeah, Birthday Boy had to pay for it all, but it was the gift I really wanted, was the time for all of us to be together.

Started a work project (yea!) just before that weekend. It is still currently going on, and I will return to it again tomorrow morning. This one has been a bit different than most I have been involved on before, but at least it helps advance my skills a bit more. I am hoping to be kept on it past the First Level, so I get he pay grade increases as we move each step closer to the finish. I won't know probably until later this week.

Since mid August I have been having health issues. From that ER visit, where the docs could find nothing wrong about my abdominal pain, I have had pain in other places. Most have receded over a few days, but will flare up every now and then. Due to this I have been a 'good boy' and cut back on my alcohol intake, and am working on drinking more water - at the pub, and at home. Weight has been a problem for me a long time, and I have now been cutting back on portions, as well as types of food I eat. Some of that pain has been in my gall bladder area off and on, so have been trying to have a healthier diet to help prevent issues that may arise there. Plus side is it helps me lose weight. Yesterday, I actually took in my belt a notch, so something is working.

Not much to add for now. I am not going to bore you with other changes I have made I felt were necessary.

Just got home from a nice dinner out with The Wife and Youngest at Chili's. I tried their Caribbean Salad, which had citrus, pineapple, and cranberries on lettuce with a honey-lime balsamic dressing, and it was actually very good and filling. Lately I have been getting signed up on the apps/rewards programs for the restaurants we go to, and tonight got a free drink, and a free desert (for my bday) off the tab. Even the Wife agrees, if it is only an appetizer somewhere, it's something for free.

A Week's End

I have been quiet this week. Partly because nothing really happened, and I didn't really have much to say. Not much has happened in my life. there was the first presidential debate that I did not watch. I did not listen to any newscast/podcast/radio chat talk/tv talk show regarding anything to do about the debate. I don't even care what their points were. I have only heard a couple of friends mention how it has to have been the worst debate they have ever watched, and they were embarrassed by it.

Earlier this week, the Wife and I had talked about our financial/employment situation. things will be okay. Between her mother's inheritance, and the proceeds from the sale of our old house (hopefully in the next month) we will be fine until she is able to find another job. Since my ID situation was taken care of last week, I am just waiting my company to contact me for the next project. So that is a bit of relief off of our minds.

The school district has finally gotten to where the youngest son will be returning to school on a 'hybrid' program. Basically, half the population goes there one day, then the next day the other half goes - for two days of the week, then the last day is everyone at home online. So something to that effect. Son is not happy about it, but we don't care. It will make him more responsible than falling back to sleep in his bed.

Guess that is about all I got to say at this time.

0-5 and Life is Just the Same

My Redskins suck this season. In fact, I am not sure they can win today against the Dolphins, who are also 0-5. Life has pretty much felt this way all year, too. Especially with the vehicles are getting hit. Still looking for one for the Wife, and hoping we can afford it.

It is October now, the Haunting Month. My kids a re old enough now that I'm sure they won't be trick or treating this year. The Grand-daughter will not be around as I am sure they have things planned down in Tucson. We babysat last night while the Daughter and SIL went to the symphony. It was The Empire Strikes Back. The Doodad has gotten much more talkative now, and is just as cute as can be.

The younger Sons just finished up a week off for Fall Break. The Middle Son has band competitions like crazy the next few short weeks. Their first was yesterday and they placed 4th out of eight. Not off to a great season.

Well, I guess I am off to the reading room before I head up to the pub to meet with the guys for football.

Monsoon Season Blows

It is Monsoon season here the desert valley. Due to some stupid reason, this season is June 15th through September 30th. Either way, right now we are in the thick of it. The humidity has been high, and with temps nearing 110 it makes my warehouse pretty miserable. I'm pretty tired of sweating all day.

I don't have much to share today. Still working on moving between houses. My car is considered totaled, and I'm only getting about $3700 out of it. Guess I'll be hitting craigslist once the check gets here. Still haven't had any good job offers. Current job is definitely taking a toll on me physically and mentally, but nothing I can do about it at the moment except quit.... which I can't afford to do. Sigh.

Middle son turns 17 this next week. Doing our birthday dinner tomorrow night at the place he chooses. All I know right now it is going be steak, steak, or probably steak. My guess is Lonestar..... We bought him a Hurdy-Gurdy playable build-it-yourself kit for his present. He likes some band on youtube that uses this instrument, and thought it would be something he could build and play since he has mastered a number of instruments. Hope he likes it.

Been a couple weeks since I saw my Doodad. Never thought I would miss like I find myself doing every now and then. After all, I am not raising her, or even live with her... must just be that Papaw thinking or something. Was hoping to take a trip down there today, but I had to work a few hours, and their plans were busy enough I didn't want to burden them with us coming down. Maybe they can make it up next weekend....

Guess that is about all I got for now...
