Whiskey Wednesday

 Hump Day!

Looks like it is going to be a full sleepless night for me this evening/morning. I took my last edible last night, and did not go out to get more today, so no help from that end. I also stayed home and did not go out drinking, so no help from the alcohol to put me to sleep. I tried to rest and relax the body and mind in bed for about an hour, before I gave up. Then it was onto the computer to watch FB reels. Thought about watching some TV shows, or a movie, but just didn't feel like it. I tried reading for a bit - no luck.

The Wife has today off from work evidently. I know she had a PCP visit scheduled for this afternoon, but I guess her boss said she could just take the whole day if she wanted, as she is not training a student currently, and I guess Wednesdays are their "slowest" days. No idea what that means, But the Wife made sure I knew about it before I tried going to bed. I think mainly so I don't wake her at 8am (like I usually do, to make sure she is up and moving).

I think once the Wife has left for her Dr appointment, I shall head up to the pub for some reading and some drinks. Started a new series by J A Jance, about a detective in Seattle. So it is a crime/police story, but the first book was pretty good. Moving onto the next 20 in this series, followed by about another 30+ in three other series this author has, and some books are linking the series together.

Taxes were completed yesterday morning. I admit, it took me longer than I thought it would, but not too much. This is the last time we will be able to claim the Youngest on the Federal. We are getting refunds from Fed and State, so I am not complaining at all. It was much more than I expected as well. The Wife texted from work this afternoon asking if she needed to sign anything to get them submitted, and I told her they were already done, and doing it electronically, we don't have to physically sign the forms. She was happy about that, plus the amount we are getting back.

Youngest is still looking for work, though not very hard from appearances. I know I have seen him searching and doing applications online several times, but supposedly has not gotten any calls for interviews or able to track a contact for a follow up to his apps. Might be time to tell him to get out there and hit up stores that don't have an online presence or are national, etc.

Welp, I guess that's about all I want to say today....

Time to Go Shopping

Damn cats. I was woken (wakened?) by the sound of a plastic bag being loudly thrashed by one of the three cats, at like, 3:30am. What the heck? I know Crack Kitty (aka Rusty) has always had a petroleum fetish (constantly into plastic bags, chewing on them, acting like they are catnip) but I think it was one of the other two: Skitters or Lucious. Not sure which, but I was not amused with the early morning antics. So, of course, now I can't sleep (despite taking 2 sleeping pills last night). I decided to do my weekly book searching: finding some more to request, checking status on ones coming out soon from authors I enjoy, seeing what else is coming soon and adding it to my "lists". And it is only 4:30am now. Sigh.

Thursday I did accomplish a few things and was able to scratch them off my to-do list. One good one is the claim I put in on my office chair. I don't recall if I mentioned, but several weeks ago one of the bolts holding the back and handle to the seat had snapped, and now leaning back is a nightmare and a fall waiting to happen. Within the hour of me sending pictures of front and back (why? the damage was on the side) and an included side pic, I had a response. They set up the full amount paid for the chair (minus taxes) so I can purchase another. I did go up to Staples on Thursday, and found a chair I like, and of course, it is $10 more than what I had to replace with, but I think it will be worth it - plus the warranty. We know now that it was worth it. Probably will go up today and get it, bring it home and put it together.

I really need to get out and get the lawn done. It is hard with my physical limitations, and the Wife is tired from working all week. Youngest is in the rebellious teenage mode (again) and refuses to get up and help with anything unless it is is for something he wants. The two older Sons live close, but one has off-hours for work, and the other is usually busy with his own life. If I can get the Wife to weed-eat/pull stuff from around her plants, I will take the hour plus to mow the lawn (have to take breaks). Guess we will see if she gets her butt out of bed at a decent time.

Erg. I see I still need to call on the title issue for the car. I need to set that right in front of everything on my desk. Sitting off to the side, I keep forgetting about it, until it is too late to call. Need to finish the taxes this weekend, too. I needed some additional info from the Wife to complete the online filings, and she hasn't got back to me about it. I guess she will be doing that today!

Taxes Due Day

This week is starting out weird. Today is the 'new' date that everyone is to have their taxes completed and at least in the mail. The Wife finished ours up last night, and I will be dropping them at the Post Office this afternoon after work. With the Wife off from work most of last year, and my lower income level, it seems that we are getting some money back from both Fed and State. So, at least there is some good news.

I also have a doctors appointment today, to follow up on my HBP med, to see if it needs adjusting. Also to review my lab work, which was not the greatest. Welp, change that. I just got the call that I need to reschedule to Friday, because the Dr is out sick today. Sigh. And I just rescheduled a time for new labs (I am sure the doc will have me do them again) to next Monday, instead of tomorrow. Now I will have to figure out a way to get to those appointments, because the rental car needs to be turned in by Thursday. Looks like Lyft time.....

Speaking of rental car, I already mentioned about car shopping. I am anxious for the car to get in and me to drive home in it. I thought I had things planned well with the rental, and my appoinments, but as one can see, there are always factors one cannot plan into the equation.

I should get back to work. Only 6 1/2 hours to go ....sigh.

The Things I Do ...

It's going to be a long day today. I didn't sleep well, not getting to bed until after 2:30am. I was tired, but for some reason just could not get comfortable and fall asleep. Then I had set my alarm for 7, as I wanted to get up and have plenty of time to shower, wake-up, and take care of a review or two I need to get done, before heading to breakfast with RM & PT. We're going to the Black Bear Diner franchise, where I have not had breakfasts there before, but the dinners are very good.

Tax Time is upon us, and that means the Wife is going to get cranky for the next several days. Like most people I know, they do their taxes as soon as they get their W-2s. Why the Wife waits until April 14th to do ours, I do not know. Then she does them twice, as she has to try itemizing everyone and then without to see which one gives us the lower amount to pay (or highest amount back - if ever). I think this morning, between breakfast and a couple other errands, I will see if I can talk her into let's using TurboTax this year. Pray for me.

I emailed into work yesterday, that I would not be able to make it online for the day, due to health issues. I had awoke with my mind completely just foggy. I had a morning "energy" drink to help clear it, but no such luck. I opted to not work instead of possibly messing up some important information. Then I slept another three hours (reason I couldn't sleep last night?). It finally cleared late in the afternoon, and could have logged in a couple hours, but decided not to do so. Sometimes we need a mental health day.

Guess I should get on to my other thigns this morning rather than sitting here trying to think of something to write about.

Pay Up, Or Else!

It's getting close to the time of year when one's income taxes to the government are due. I know this, as the Wife is scurrying around the house, trying to find every medical receipt she can remember ever putting someplace (though not all in the same place). I do not know why she procrastinates every year, down until the final days before they are due, to prepare the paperwork. Luckily, in the past few years, we have received money back and it hasn't hurt us.

I remember a couple months ago. I had gone through all my receipts for prescriptions, dentist & doctor visits, etc, etc, and got them all together. I also kept hold of the state tax booklet, her W-2s and any other mailings I knew we would need (college payment transcripts, investment stuff, etc). I had it all clipped together. I even tried to give it to her, but she didn't want it at that time. Why she was waiting I have no clue, except that it was February, and not April. Tuesday night I had gone out for a bit to the pub (trivia night, what can I say). No sooner than had I got there, she is calling asking for all the tax paperwork. I told her where the stuff I had were located. She didn't want that. She wanted all the other stuff. I said I had no clue where she put it all. She proceeded to get all pissy with me, saying that I "knocked over" her paperwork from HER desk, and now SHE can't find what she needs. Then she hung up on me. Yeah, hung up.

I was pissed. I resolved I wasn't going home for a longer period of time than I had planned. A couple hours later, I noticed I received a text message from her saying she found it, though she never admitted I had never touched it. Last night, as soon as she got home, I handed her the stuff I had had for two months. As I am trying to go to bed later in the evening, she claims she can't find certain stuff and starts blaming me again. Being pissed off at this whole thing of waiting to the last minute and taking it out on me, I get out of bed, and proceed to show her where everything I had together is located. Then I finish it all off with "That's all the tax stuff I have, know where is, knocked over, spit on, or anything else you want to blame me for. I'm done with it, do what you want with it." Yeah, wasn't nice, but I AM done with it. I offered to do the taxes before, but she refuses to let me. I guess I don't waste time scrutinizing the instructions, doing every little sub-worksheet to try for every little penny I can get. Yes, she does drag all figures out to the penny.

It's exasperating. I'll be happy come Monday.
