Catch Up Time

It's been nearly a week since I last posted. I would normally say not much has happened, but that isn't true this week, it seems.

Last weekend, the Middle Son reached out to us. For several years we have offered to assistance with his car in getting the A/C repaired (he always said no). But now, with his partner pregnant and due any day, he realizes he can't be driving around in the Phoenix summer heat with a newborn and no A/C. So the offer had changed to us "financially assisting" him with finding a newer vehicle. Wednesday he and I went out to a dealership I was recommended to, and after looking at three cars, found the one he felt good about, at a decent price. So he is the owner of a 2014 Ford Escape. I can rest a bit easier knowing the newborn will have better safety and good A/C while traveling now.

While we were waiting to do all that paperwork stuff, I guess the partner felt she was having the baby. Her Mom is in town, and took her to the hospital. So once the Son had the car, he headed there to find out it was a 'panic' and she is doing fine, not yet ready, and sent her home. I haven't heard from them since Wednesday.

The Oldest Son reached out to the Wife earlier this week as well. I guess there is some turmoil in his household (meaning between his partner and he). Sounds like their relationship may be over, but I do not know any details. Not that my opinion matters, but I never much cared for his partner. She refuses to do anything with his family, except the one time we did it at their apartment. Plus she has other "mental" issues.... I just leave that there.

Youngest is still looking for employment - me as well. Nothing has come back in touch for me, and finding something in my area without having to drive across the Valley is near impossible it seems. I wish I was 20 years younger, so I could do more of the physical work that I cannot do now. Sigh. A handful of wishes, and a handful of crap - which will fill faster, right?

Having some withdrawals about seeing the granddaughters. We haven't been able to match up a schedule with the Daughter to visit, or them visit us.

July 4th is coming up. I know the Post is doing a flag raising in the morning. A friend has invited us over for an afternoon/evening party with swimming, food and fireworks. Not sure if we all will make it - the Wife has to work.

Welp, RM can catch up on my life stuff now... I'm off to the pub to watch the Price is Right. Relax RM, I'm drinking tea there, not beer. After all it is only 9am....

Whiskey Wednesday

 Hump Day!

Looks like it is going to be a full sleepless night for me this evening/morning. I took my last edible last night, and did not go out to get more today, so no help from that end. I also stayed home and did not go out drinking, so no help from the alcohol to put me to sleep. I tried to rest and relax the body and mind in bed for about an hour, before I gave up. Then it was onto the computer to watch FB reels. Thought about watching some TV shows, or a movie, but just didn't feel like it. I tried reading for a bit - no luck.

The Wife has today off from work evidently. I know she had a PCP visit scheduled for this afternoon, but I guess her boss said she could just take the whole day if she wanted, as she is not training a student currently, and I guess Wednesdays are their "slowest" days. No idea what that means, But the Wife made sure I knew about it before I tried going to bed. I think mainly so I don't wake her at 8am (like I usually do, to make sure she is up and moving).

I think once the Wife has left for her Dr appointment, I shall head up to the pub for some reading and some drinks. Started a new series by J A Jance, about a detective in Seattle. So it is a crime/police story, but the first book was pretty good. Moving onto the next 20 in this series, followed by about another 30+ in three other series this author has, and some books are linking the series together.

Taxes were completed yesterday morning. I admit, it took me longer than I thought it would, but not too much. This is the last time we will be able to claim the Youngest on the Federal. We are getting refunds from Fed and State, so I am not complaining at all. It was much more than I expected as well. The Wife texted from work this afternoon asking if she needed to sign anything to get them submitted, and I told her they were already done, and doing it electronically, we don't have to physically sign the forms. She was happy about that, plus the amount we are getting back.

Youngest is still looking for work, though not very hard from appearances. I know I have seen him searching and doing applications online several times, but supposedly has not gotten any calls for interviews or able to track a contact for a follow up to his apps. Might be time to tell him to get out there and hit up stores that don't have an online presence or are national, etc.

Welp, I guess that's about all I want to say today....

Sunday Morning Chill

Well, it's been over a week since the accident, and nothing has been done. I spent half the week waiting for my insurance rep to contact me. Last Saturday I received an email from her stating she had tried to contact me (I had no call) and gave me her contact info, plus her work hours. Unfortunately, her hours were Tues-Sat. By Tuesday evening I still had not heard from her, so I sent an email asking for a call or text with an update. Thursday I get the call late in the day, and there is nothing they can do. Now, I had a previous incident last August, and my rep contacted the other insurance, but this gal didn't even try. So Friday I spoke to my Buddy Jeff, who is my insurance agent, and an attorney, and he said to just call the other guy's insurance and get things going. It was too late Friday to call, and I was busy Saturday. That leaves today, but I doubt anything will get done. So now it will be tomorrow afternoon.

Work still sucks. More applications out last week with no replies yet. The Boss is realizing more and more that the new gal doesn't know her job. Which is adding more work and stress to me. Plus, new procedures they are trying to increase productivity is causing an increase in orders, which creates more work for me. And more physical lifting so here I am off two days and still hurting from stiff muscles. I really just want to quit.

The house moving is still going on. The Wife doing inventory and getting rid of things is going slowly, so getting stuff from the old place is taking forever. I was able to get a dresser out yesterday I gave to a friend for free. Maybe a fire can be set to the old house and we won't need to worry about the rest of the stuff.....

July 4th is this week. Whoopee. I get the day off, but have to go back Friday. Same with The Wife.

Finished watching "Yellowstone" season one last night. It was interesting enough that I am waiting season two to come out on dvd. I know it just started on television, so it will be several months. First television show I have seen in awhile that I have liked.

That should do it for now....

Ugh....

Started off the weekend in a crappy way. About 5 miles from work, on my way home, I got rear-ended. I am fine, and so was the other driver. Most of the damage is cosmetic, except the back hatch is bent and won't open. I am hoping the frame isn't bent, but hard to tell as I am not a car specialist. It was drive-able home and I did not notice any particular noises or leakage before or after. This morning though was an adventure. The back is sore, and the base of my neck. The Wife gave me a nice back rub (physical therapist spouse) that helped quite a bit. Now am waiting for my claims rep to call, but with it being the weekend, it may not happen until Monday.

The water heater in the newer home will not keep the pilot light lit. There hasn't been hot water for a day plus now. I watched some videos on youtube, and see the low cost and easy way to replace thermo-couplers, etc. But found one really good one about cleaning the air filter area under the unit. With the Daughter and Doodad in town, the ladies are going shopping and will pick up the dust wand they video suggested (cheap one from a dollar store). Hope that works.

Work is crappy. The gal I worked with had her last day the previous Friday, so this was the first week without her. My work load has increased, to keep up with the normal work flow of the department because the new girl is crap. The boss asked me how I think it was working out, and I let him know even with 2.5 months of training, she still doesn't know the job. He was not happy with what I had to say, but it had to be said... especially because he asked. Still looking but no lock yet.

Guess that's about all I got for now.

Aw Heck! Twice in a Month!

Yeah, decided to try once again to post more. I think it is more of a 'release' to the amount of angst I have right now...anger... dissatisfaction... with how my current employer is treating me me. Over a 'year ago, I was 'raised' to a position higher than the "driver". Took over a year, and I finally got a review, with a $1.00/hour raise, which I could have gotten staying the driver. No position increase, though I do more now than then. Add to that, my Boss says he wants me to learn all the procedures that my co-worker knows, because she may retire in the next couple years, and he sees me "running the whole parts department" after that.... for a dollar an hour more. Fuck that Bullshit.

So, now looking for other work.

yee-haw.
