Whiskey Wednesday

 Hump Day!

Looks like it is going to be a full sleepless night for me this evening/morning. I took my last edible last night, and did not go out to get more today, so no help from that end. I also stayed home and did not go out drinking, so no help from the alcohol to put me to sleep. I tried to rest and relax the body and mind in bed for about an hour, before I gave up. Then it was onto the computer to watch FB reels. Thought about watching some TV shows, or a movie, but just didn't feel like it. I tried reading for a bit - no luck.

The Wife has today off from work evidently. I know she had a PCP visit scheduled for this afternoon, but I guess her boss said she could just take the whole day if she wanted, as she is not training a student currently, and I guess Wednesdays are their "slowest" days. No idea what that means, But the Wife made sure I knew about it before I tried going to bed. I think mainly so I don't wake her at 8am (like I usually do, to make sure she is up and moving).

I think once the Wife has left for her Dr appointment, I shall head up to the pub for some reading and some drinks. Started a new series by J A Jance, about a detective in Seattle. So it is a crime/police story, but the first book was pretty good. Moving onto the next 20 in this series, followed by about another 30+ in three other series this author has, and some books are linking the series together.

Taxes were completed yesterday morning. I admit, it took me longer than I thought it would, but not too much. This is the last time we will be able to claim the Youngest on the Federal. We are getting refunds from Fed and State, so I am not complaining at all. It was much more than I expected as well. The Wife texted from work this afternoon asking if she needed to sign anything to get them submitted, and I told her they were already done, and doing it electronically, we don't have to physically sign the forms. She was happy about that, plus the amount we are getting back.

Youngest is still looking for work, though not very hard from appearances. I know I have seen him searching and doing applications online several times, but supposedly has not gotten any calls for interviews or able to track a contact for a follow up to his apps. Might be time to tell him to get out there and hit up stores that don't have an online presence or are national, etc. 

Welp, I guess that's about all I want to say today....

It's Just Irritating

 Since Monday, I have been putting off doing things. Didn't get the lawn mowed - put that off for now. The Oldest Son showed up Monday as planned, to go change over the title on the car, etc. Turns out that there is an abandonment claim now on the title. I now have to call the MVD Abandoned Vehicle department to figure out what needs to be done to get it removed. My guess is, when the car was found, it was in a parking lot, then towed by private to some salvage lot. There, they put in a claim based on the VIN that it was abandoned. Which would explain why the police never called my Son... they had no idea it was recovered. The Insurance found the car, I'm guessing by the VIN, and then took the car to the repair facility, where I drove it home from. It is physically in my driveway - how can it be abandoned?!? So that phone call I have been putting off for a couple days... mostly because I get so angry about the whole situation.

I've also been putting off doing the taxes this year. I finally talked the Wife into letting me do them this year, electronically, with one of the programs out there. For many years, she would always wait til the last minute, then figure out by hand the medical costs, etc, and fill the forms by hand, beating the midnight mailed deadline by minutes some years. I need to get that done... otherwise, I am just as bad as her procrastinating to the last minute. I know we don't owe, but still....

Still haven't heard from the Company. Another put off ....

I haven't been able to sleep at all tonight. No idea why. I took some over the counter sleep aid pills but haven't felt sleepy at all. No since trying to bed down now, as I try to get up in the next 2-3 hours as a rule anyways. Putting off another night of sleep....

Maybe something better tomorrow - or later today, rather....

So, I Went Shopping ...

 Yeah. Me. Shopping. Not the kind where I meander all over the place and look at everything (like some people I know). I went shopping, like a Man. I walked into that Toyota delalership knowing what I wanted, what I willing to pay, and they better have it. They didn't. But, as it turns out, they are due a shipment of vehicles 4/25-4/30 that actually has exactly what I want on the trailer. It's a 2022 Rav4 LE AWD, *AND* it is the same color as my old one. I didn't put a reservation on it ($3000) because that monies would not be applied to the pricing. In other words, throwing $3K out there just to secure it. Naw, I'll ltake my chances. So we talked a bit more, and I found out the price I would pay since I am not financing. All in all, a good afternoon. Just waitng the call when it comes in.

I'm still in pain. The cuts on my leg are healing well, for scratches/cuts. The swelling in my shoulder has gone down. Bruising is starting to slowly fade away. But my chest still hurts. Just below the neck area. Feels like the bone(s) are bruised. I wonder when the air bag deployed, either the force of it, or it and maybe an arm) was thrust so hard, that it feels this way. It has been slowly getting better, and I noticed rolling over in bed, etc, was not as painful this morning. But the pain is still enough it distracts me, even when sitting idle. Hopefully I will be mostly back to my normal here this week.

It is Easter Sunday. We haven't given out baskets of candy on this day for years. With most of the kids grown and out of the house, why bother? Though, I do admit RM still does stockings for us kids at Christmas. Either way, we haven't gotten together (my kids/families) for Easter since they started getting older and moving out. The Middle Son had texted the other day, his work was being closed today, and he wanted to know if we had plans. Yesterday I tenatively said if he and his older brother wanted to, we could go to Dennys for lunch today, thinking it would be one of the less crowded places. He is to get back to me this morning. I would not be surprised if I do not hear from him, or they turn it down.

I think I am going to relax most of the day. The Wife will be working on final tax figures this afternoon. She always waits until the last minute, and refuses to pay  (her words - waste) $50 for Turbo Tax, when she thinks she has to figure out the figures anyways to enter it into the program. <shrug> What do I know? The Wife has tkaen this on many years ago, though I don't remember why.

Doctor's appointment tomorrow. Based on the somewhat record I have kept of my BP readings, I thin khe may increase my HBP meds a bit in the dosage. Maybe another 5-10 milligrams. I know he will send me out for lab work again. Some of the numbers from the last one were just weird. My blood sugar and A1C were sky high, to the point it was ridiculous. Though I don't know why - I had to fast 8 hours before I went. Needless to say I expect to do them again. In fact, I need to stop now and set up an appointment time for Tuesday, so I don't have to wait forever as a walk-in. There, done!

The Wife and I went out to dinner last night. I was craving some steak, so we went to Texas Roadhouse. We expected a wait (told 35-45) and an hour later we finally got our seat. We did get our appetizer and drinks fast, but waited nearly 35 minutes for the food, which arrived somewhat just above room temperature. It was possibly our worst experience at this restaurant. I was a bit disappointed, but the food was still good, and both of us were taking home at least half, if not more, of the meal home. I just couldn't eat it all. Another good thing, as I am working on weight loss.

Welp, the day is wasting away, and I haven't done much as of yet, so I should get going.

Burying the Hatchet - In the Chair

Today I am hoping to lay to rest my computer desk chair. I have had it only a fairly short time, maybe a year or so. I have a feeling I will miss it. Chair was found at Savers (a Goodwill-type store) and once I tried it out, knew it would come home with me. Even Rusty, the demon-spawn cat, likes chair, as it shows his many times of claw sharpening upon the back corners. Chair has succumbed to the abuse we have put it through, and now cannot seem to stay in a normal position. Chair tends to lean to either side, enough that the seated is unbalanced and falls out of it. I speak from experience. I am sure the children were helpful in Chair's decline, by sitting on the arms of it, or standing on them. Yes, I truly caught them at that one.

I will be visiting Savers again today, or possibly even Goodwill, to find a replacement hopefully. One that leans back, and is cushioned in just the right places so I feel comfortable no mater if I am playing games, or writing correspondence. When it came to color of Chair, I am no racist, but do prefer a darker color. I may even luck out to get one that Rusty will not love so much.

Now you know what my day is filled with doing. I'm just waiting until 9am then I'll be gone for maybe an hour. I just hope to find something to replace this one.

Last night the Wife and I did the Midnight Dash to the only Post Office open in the greater Phoenix area. Which amounts to about 20 minutes of freeway driving at that hour. We lucked out and got there shortly after 11pm, so the traffic had not gotten terribly bad. We were able to get both State and Federal taxes in well before midnight. Other than being a little more tired than usual today from staying up almost 3 hours past my regular bedtime, things are good. Well, except I need to get a new computer chair.

Edit: I got up to Savers at 9am when they opened. There was only one chair with rollers there, that looked sort of like a computer chair. It's appearance was more like one of those gray cloth/light-colored wood deals that they use at those desk/countertop things in some homes. Either way, it was the only thing they had, and it was marked for $6.99. So I fugured seven bucks isn't terrible for a chair I really need. I tested it out, leaning all over th eplace, and all - felt good. Got to the counter, and it must have been a discount day, because the total price I paid was $5.73. Woot!
