Random Stuff

 I don't have anything of extreme noteworthiness to share today. So I am going to just ramble.

I have a Para scheduled tomorrow. Today I need to decide if I need to use it or not. If not, I need to call and cancel the appointment, and schedule another one into May. I'm only slightly uncomfortable with the build-up, but feel I could go another week. Guess I will decide this afternoon.

IOP this morning. This is a nice program if you are struggling with substance abuse with the support and sharing. Learning different ways to work around your addiction and better yourself are good things, but I was a fortunate one, I guess. I never had cravings after I quit drinking. Granted it has only been just over 6 months, But overall this class does nothing for me, except check a box for Mayo. Same with the weekly AA meetings.

Hoping Walgreens gets in a couple of my prescriptions in. I have two I ran out of while filling my pillbox for this week. I went up Friday and checked status on four of them, and so far have gotten 1 filled, 1 partially filled, and waiting on two (the two I need to complete the week out). Supposed to be in by tomorrow they said last time I checked (Monday).

The General and Auxiliary meetings for the month are tonight, and it is the time of year for nominations/voting for leadership. I already know I am going to be nominated for 3rd Year Trustee in the Aux. I have decided to accept. The duties I would need to do only happen once per quarter as we go over the figures as an audit to be sure all is accounted for. This is a 3-year term, so shouldn't be asked to run for anything else for the next few years.

Riders meeting this Monday. I need to put together the Agenda. Nominations... Ugh. No idea how this is going to go. I've checked that our Treasurer is willing to resume duties for the new term. The Interim Director has not said one way or the other. And a Vice Director position needs filled as well. At times I feel like I am the only one wanting to expand and grow, and everyone seems content to just "wear the patch". Well, July may bring some changes as the VFWRG splits from the Post, and becomes their own like the Auxiliary. New voting, new bylaws, maybe new patch.

No appointments with Mayo until May 1st as of right now. I have a couple consults next month, a blood/urine sample given, and that is pretty much it. Same going into July, where I hope to have all the deferments done, and will get on the Waiting List finally.

Well, I guess that's more of my griping than you want to hear...

Another Day Down

 Finished Day Two of working a full day from home. I noticed yesterday after I clocked out, that I was going to have to make some adjustments to how I spend the workday. I have been just working the full straight 8-hour shift, with a couple 10-15 min breaks within. I prefer not to take a lunch, and just snack on something while I continue working. It's get me done earlier in the day to do other things, like maybe take a nap. I did get up and walk around the house a few extra times today, so my legs aren't feeling cramped.

Since I have been back to work, I haven't had much to say. today is Election Day. I mailed my ballot a while back. The Wife took hers down to the voting station yesterday finally. I'll probably see about finding a website to maybe watch some of the reports as counts come in a bit later.

What Changed?

I worked today. Many Americans did that same feat. Desk-sitters, construction workers, police, fire, rescue... blah, blah, the list can continue. I cannot name every type of worker in America, just trying to include them all.

I guess my political tendencies are going to come out. So be it.

I spent more time on that facebook thingy then I meant to do. Of course there were posts from people I know for this candidate ... some for another... and more for another. All of them posting the drivel, or accusing grievances from the other against their candidate. Maybe I am just human. It made me feel sick to my stomach. Yes, I am proud to say I am registered as Republican. Does that mean I like every Republican candidate? Of course not. I can be honest to say at this time, I am not sure about any of them. But I have a duty to return my primary vote. It's not the final vote for Presidency. Will I use the "write-in" option? Who knows.

But reading "posts" ( I use that lightly) of other people that I do consider, to have somewhat higher intelligence than most, I learned... oh, sigh and shake your head. Most people, if, whatever state of mind they are in, will share a meme. I know, shocker, right? Saw many tonight.

Some I agreed with, to a degree, and I posted a comment, or a discussion, as to why that was not entirely correct. But like the normal US citizen, I am sure it will not spread.

Yeah. Super Tuesday is tomorrow for a number of states. I think I want to see what happens.

Politics Suck

It's Election Day here in the USA. That day where we pick who we feel is the best liar, or at least, the one that appeals to us the most. I detest politics. I think it is a waste of time. I know that there is no way to make it the better working system, though I am sure there are some 'tweaks' that can be done to make it tolerable. Either way, I mailed my vote in a few weeks ago with my early ballot. The Wife, she waited until last night to do hers - I think because she was just being the procrastinator she is. So now I have to go out of my way to go to the polling place for our area, just to drop off her vote, that should have been mailed weeks ago.

On a few blogs I read, and definitely on Facebook, the rants & raves of people for or against the presidential runners are out in full force. The crap I posted yesterday about the superstition to do with the Redskins, I posted it on FB on Sunday, and as of yesterday had over 85 responses to it - though most were two people I know going back and forth bashing each other's choice. I'll be so glad when it is over for a few days. Because at that point, you know it will go into bashing whoever is president by whoever doesn't like it.

Sigh. Makes you wonder about some people sometimes.

Today's my busy day. At least I won't have to listen to or watch any last minute propaganda from anyone.

Stupid Superstition

Yesterday started off almost decently. My team had two softball games, and they were the early hours, meaning at 8am & 9am, before it gets too hot. I am on the injured reserve this week, since last week I strained a leg muscle. I still ended up playing catcher for a couple innings as a teammate was running late. Bending down to pick up the ball, I was glad I wasn't batting and running as that muscle still was not ready for playing. So, instead I kept score, as usual. Started off not bad, but we ended up losing both games. Then headed down to the pub that we play for, as we get a free team drink, and my Redskins were to play at 11am.

Prior to the football game starting, the cook at the pub (who is a Dolphins fan) came out and was casually teasing me about who my Redskins were going to lose to today, etc. Then he comes out saying that out of the last 17 times the Washington Redskins have had a home game the Sunday prior to an Election Day, when they lose, the current president gets voted out of office. But if they win, he wins a re-election. So great. The outcome of my game is going to possibly make or break the country. Fricking wonderful. Just what I need, more pressure.

Needless to say, the Redskins lost. By theory, that would mean Obama will lose the election. From what I heard on news radio this morning, it doesn't quite sound that way. Though, nothing will be final until after tomorrow's debacle.

Flipping the Coin

I completed my election ballot and put it in the mail this morning. Usually, this job would require me spending a few hours reading through the materials, the pro/con arguments, and other miscellaneous readings online, all in order that I felt I was making an "informed" decision. I didn't want to take the the time this year. For all the propositions AZ had, I read through the basic 'yes means this, no means that' descriptions, read a few of the letters written for, and a few against, then made a choice. One of those 'gut feelings' type of choices, instead of wasting other time reading repeats of the basics. Was it the best way to handle making my selections? Maybe not, but either way I still feel comfortable about the ones I made. It was better than flipping a coin.

Honestly, the best part about sending int he ballot, is that I know in a short time, I won't have to hear/read/see the political rants/opinions that everyone seems to have, or at least expressing to help "convert" the people that can't make up their minds. I am so sick of it all right now.

Sleep left me a bit earlier than usual this morning. I tried to find it again, but wasn't able to in the 45 minutes before I really needed to get up. Now I am feeling a bit tired, like I need a nap. I hope I can shake that feeling before much longer. I would rather not be taking a nap, though, I really don't have much planned, so therefore have the time to take one....

Presidential Party Selection

Friday I received in the mail, the Republican ballot for Pres. Party Selection. Obviously I received it as when I first registered, I had put Republican as my party preference. Just like during any type of campaign period, I receive 99% Republican flyers, etc, rather than an equal number from all parties.

Either way, I figured there would be a handful of candidates to choose from (not that it is an easy choice among them). Wrong. There are just under 25 candidates on this ballot. Three-fourths of them I have never heard of before. I have a few days before this ballot needs to be returned (in AZ) but still.... the time it will take to research and review each person, to see if I feel that they would be my best selection, will take even longer.

In many ways, I feel like I am down to flipping a coin and letting that decide who to select. But how does one do that with so many candidates? Put the first together and flip? Or first and last, and move inwards? I got it! Draw numbers to assign to each one, then draw up a playoff diagram! One winner for all brackets!

Yeah, sometimes I feel that that is how our President gets elected. It's so hard to believe any politician, if you spend the time reading what their website says because obviously they are going to say things that put them in the best light. Just like if you read an opponent's view, it would be the worst.

So how does one best select a candidate, that would do the best job for their interests? Or is it anymore, not about who WOULD do the best, but who can SAY they would?

No April Rain means no May Flowers???

I'm dried up pretty much today. Dried up on sleep, my eyes are dry and itchy, and the only thing wet around here is my nose because it just wants to run all day long. Damn allergies. You'd thought rain here in AZ would make it worse (it does) but we haven't had any for awhile now. Doesn't stop my allergies though. Got enough earlier on this year to just ruin spring for me.

April is rounding down, and May feels like it is going to be a busy month, but when I put it on paper, looks like nothing. Have a play for my niece I need to attend. Daughter's graduation on the 25th. Daddy and the boys time as Daughter and Wife are gone on orientation 27-28 - that's gonna be interesting. The Wife will need the van for that trip.... I won't have anyway of going anywhere with the boys. Guess we'll have lotsa Pizza Hut.

I am still working my way through AZ's prop 100, and not liking it more and more. Who the hell wants an increase in sales tax (on top of the food tax we just put in place) that can increase at gov'ts whim, and not by vote?? Hell, who would want this as an amendment to our state constitution? It's a fucking mess. But the proceeds are for Education, and Public Safety.... Education, yeah we need more funding. Safety? When a friend of mine the other night saw FIVE (yes 5) police cars to pull over/handle ONE (yes 1) blue haired female - what am I paying the ones working now for? And he said each police car had the standard 2 cops in it (evening time).
TEN officers to handle the pulling over, assistance with ONE blue hair? I don't get it.

I am going back to bed for a few more ZZZ's before I need to take the daughter to school.
