Where Do We Go From Here?

A few short weeks ago, you noticed I had to break from here, and from other things in Life for a bit. I was angry. I was not in control of myself, and needed to focus on 'me and mine' to get things back to the proper perspective. I don't think I have been that particular angry in probably over 25 years (another story for another time) and though I don't think it was wrong to be angry, it would have been wrong to act out, or say things, whilst in that mode. I think at this point I am definitely in a better mindset, and mental place. On the plus side, you got the anticipation of my return, and what I would bring with me.

Yesterday (Saturday) was sort of a big event around the d00d household. The Youngest was attending Prom, which included dinner prior to the event. Of course he isn't driving on his own yet, so other arrangements had to be made. The girl he has been dating, well, her mother is a teacher at the HS they attend, and was also chaperoning the event. This had been discussed earlier in the week, so we ended up driving to her place, picking her up, taking them to dinner, and then to the event. Then her mother would drop Youngest at home afterward. Dinner was Texas Roadhouse, and I wish I had thought better about the situation... With multiple HS's that many Proms overlap, and they were BUSY!! We ended up waiting over an hour for a table. Yes, Wife and I ate there, too, as it was easier for transportation/time, but we let them have their own table. Then dropped off at the event just down the street from there. Wife and I went home, as I was just beat. Then I spent most of the night trying to get to sleep, which didn't happen til after 3am.

Today is going to be a relaxing day for me, or so I hope. I got up at 10, just so I wouldn't sleep all day, and hopefully be able to get to sleep easier tonight. I have gotten in my play time on the Vikings game I play, and plan to head up to the VFW for the afternoon. With Nascar on, and Caution/Pit Stop drink specials - it could be fun. Besides, I'll be reading, which you know I like. I did manage to get four reviews done on books that I had been putting off writing up. I still have one more to do, and another book to read before writing it up. Keeps me busier than the (lack of) my regular job.

Welp, I think I have wasted enough time throwing up some drivel for your entertainment.

Anger Issues

I had to remove my post from the other day. As I went back to review it this morning, I realized I wrote it when I was quite angry. I've noticed I have done this a number of times over the years, removing a post written in anger. It isn't so much that it embarrasses me, I just seem to realize afterwards that all it really does is makes me feel better getting it off my chest.

Either way the rest of the weekend went fine. I actually was not feeling well. I don't know if it was something I ate, or a "stomach bug", but was just feeling blah, and had some of the most atrocious gas. Even the Wife, who has still not recovered her sense of smell from COVID, says it was worse than normal...and more frequent. So far this morning, I am still sort of waking up, but feel marginally better.

I actually got about seven hours of sleep last night. Maybe feeling a bit under the weather has helped. I know I slept in yesterday, and then even had a 2-3 hour nap in the afternoon. By 9pm I was ready for bed. I read until 10, then slept pretty much straight through until about 5 this morning. Best sleep I have had without the aid of alcohol.

The Daughter and Doodad are expected up today. I guess they are coming up for a couple days to help the Wife finish getting out whatever crap she still wants from the old house. I was hoping to be done with it all last week, but that has not happened, obviously. Maybe this week. No updates on jobs for me. I have started looking into other jobs since nothing has come up recently at the one employer.

Halloween is coming up soon. My kids are old enough that trick or treating is out. In past years, because we would not be home, we never passed out candy. I have no idea what the Wife may want to do this year. Sit out front with a bowlful and pass them out id any come by? Supposedly there are restrictions about being out and about for the "traditions".

Thanksgiving is after that, and I really am lost as to what we will do. Last year we went to the Daughter's and had a good day. Perhaps this year we will do the same. Not sure how it will be since two of the boys have odd working schedules, and may not be able to attend, even if it were in town versus out of town. Part of them all growing up I suppose.

Still need to get out and do some vehicle shopping for the Wife. I haven't pushed it as the weather is still warm, even if it below 100 most days now. Between that and the crap at the old house.... Once we get that sold, I also will be looking for a vehicle, though I already have in mind a couple ideas for me.

Did the Bottom Just Fall Out?

I started my new job today.

I quit my new job today.

It wasn't as fast, nor as complete, as that.

Truth is I did start online training for a project that is estimated to last about a week. I got through the training, the team meeting in regards to the project. Details are basically analyzing data breach information and tagging/flagging items of certain content related to personal to finance, to medical. Pretty cool stuff. Got through all of that, and went to log into the software to start, and there is a glitch. I can't get logged in. there were a few others that could not as well.

As time ticked and I sat waiting for them to let me know things had been fixed/reset/whatever, I got an email from the HR department requesting a second form of ID, and they had to have it today, or I would be let go. I lost my SS card. I noticed it awhile back, but have not been to the SSA offices here as they are closed for COVID restrictions. I don't have a birth certificate available (RM, not your fault... it's just gone somewhere). Needless to say, after an hour, I still could not log in the system, so informed the team lead that I needed to try to get this issue resolved, otherwise I would have to back out of the project.

I went online. SSA website would not let me create an account with them to request a replacement card. I called the local office, and actually spoke to a person (don't know if they were at the office, or a call center somewhere else in town) who directed me to another office that handles all issues with card replacements. I called that office, recording told me that it could only be requested in person at that location. Drove over there (about 15 miles) and the parking lot is empty. I walk tot he doors to see if there is anything posted about what I should do, and a security guards opens the door and says they are closed until further notice. I explained my issue, and he said I have to mail an application for request for a replacement, to that exact office. But who is checking the mail, or doing the work if the office is closed????

So, a wasted trip. I get back home and I look up about getting a copy sent of my birth certificate. It would be coming from Indiana, and the Vital Statistics there...oh man.... it's only $10 plus postage (which isn't listed in the fees). The main website says it is a 25 day process, but on top of that, they are running an additional 45 days over. Next option is a third-party.... but would that be quicker than the governmental branch? It sure is a hell of a lot more expensive. To have A copy (one copy) mailed to me, the fee is $75. The have a copy that can be emailed and I print it out (all in theory, because I don't see how that can be considered certified without the creased stamp like a notary) is only $55. But both options say nothing about how long the process actually takes... Her eis what each third-party site says:

"Each US state offers varying waiting times between 1 to 8 weeks to receive your Vital Records Certificate"

Up to two months?!? Whooooaaaa.... There is no fast solution to my problem. I do not have a passport. Either way I ended up notifying the Team Lead that due to the situation not being able to be resolved quickly, I had to back out of the project. Another email was sent to the recruiting department, explaining what happened, informed them I needed to remove myself from the project, and be placed on BUSY status with the company until I can resolve it all. Once one of them get here, I can go ACTIVE and hopefully get into the next available project.

But now we are looking at a minimum of two months for either to get here.... and I need both in theory anyways. Might as well finish out the damn year without a job.

Sigh.

WTF?

This morning I am literally just shaking my head at the amount of fuckery going on in the world (not just the united States). I mean, this crap is so fucked up, I can't even wrap a sane thought around any of it, in such a way I could make a convincing thought of supporting, or denying it. A Conspiracy Theorist would be having orgasms over the possibilities that exist for all this crap happening in the world. I do have some general thoughts on some of these subjects... and I'm sure not here to convince anyone, as even I cannot make up my mind what is right and what is wrong it seems.

George Floyd, Minnesota, and protesters. This is probably 90% of my bitch today. Let's start world-wide. Why the hell are people "across the world" doing protests for this alleged incident that happened in the US? I think RM said something yesterday about seeing the same picture of protesters supposed somewhere here in the US, and then was supposedly in France. I recall this happening a lot with pics during the Covid issue - people on beaches, etc. Now, why are we protesting in many states of the US over this? And the looting? Because you are so upset over this issue you need to loot and destroy property, allowing the government to enforce curfews to give them more power? Sigh.

I am so mixed up about everything. Pictures of Floyd's "execution" are weird (license plate on police vehicle saying "POLICE"? Cops filmed not talking to each other, ambulance that no one called showing up and no one ever verifies that Floyd is dead). Just way too many weird things. I have even started seeing "articles" saying Soros and the Dems are behind a black man's execution because of Biden's gaffe recently. I wouldn't put it past them... but really?

Another that gets me is the protesting/looting going on all over the country. Dallas I have seen "alleged" pictures showing pallets of bricks sitting near intersections of where looting have occurred, as if placed there for use. Admittedly the pics show no signs indicating a construction company, or site, but is that the angle of the picture, or photo-shopped out?

And last night started reading about how there was 700 earthquakes near Yellowstone Park in one day,or some such crap. I read more into that one, and discovered they experience 700-3,000 of them in the same time period... so it isn't as bad as media is making it. Speaking of...

Media. That's where much of this bullshit is coming from. Sparking things among the sheeple and mind-controlling mass amounts of people that can't think for themselves. Who controls the media now?

I want to not read/see media, but ow else am I to get any information on certain things? How do I know which to believe and which not to believe. What is fake news, which is bad reporting? Which is government controlled to force a certain viewpoint for a certain result?

Sigh. It really is tiring. Sorry for cussing so much RM.

When Events Collide

The past few days have been somewhat stress-filled at our house. Of course the Daughter's wedding is coming up (under three weeks now I believe), and that has caused enough other problems. But now another issue has risen. The oldest Son has the Jr/Sr prom that same night ... as the wedding.

I don't know who to blame for this extravagant error in planning said events both on the same day, but I do know that anger levels have been exceeded as of late.

Friday, I got a text message from the Daughter, about how it is my fault about allowing the Son to go to Prom, when he committed to the wedding and she has to have him there for some function of the wedding. For some reason, the Daughter has been going through some weird swearing phase, for way too long, and so it included some choice word usages. I called her back, and first told her to not start on me for something I obviously have no clue about. So I heard her tearful, and explicative filled version of some text conversation she has been having with the oldest Son.

Seems last Sunday night, while out to dinner, was the first I had heard that the Son had asked a girl to the prom. In my recollection, it was the first he even had said he wanted to go to prom. I also found out it was the same night as the wedding. I casually mentioned that it shouldn't be a problem. Of course, I was told the wedding was an afternoon/early evening event.

Being how it is my Life, and it never goes smoothly, turns out the wedding was changed to more of an evening affair, and of course, prom is like a 45+ minute drive, across the Valley. As parents of the Bride, I think it would be bad taste for one, or both, of us to leave the reception to take the Son to prom, so I said he would have to find a ride that we trust to take him from the wedding, to prom, and we would pick him up after the prom. If no ride could be found, he would not go to prom.

The Wife, I have no clue how/why she did this, but somehow ended up with a co-worker willing to drive the Son. At that point, I am just, figure out what you need to get the Daughter to compromise and get it all done. The compromise is something to do with dinner. It is tentatively scheduled to start about 7, with the toasts and all following ( I think - the way they keep changing things, I have no idea). Supposedly, one of his jobs as groomsman is to help pour/distribute the champagne.

I agree, he should give up the prom for the wedding. He is only a Junior, and there is always next year. But The Wife insists it is a big social event and he should be able to attend. Now I have two siblings fighting, a Wife, who is sided with the Son, and everyone yelling at me to fix it. I'm about ready to say no to prom, no to the wedding, and then move by myself to Alaska.

Last night we think we finally got it all settled. I told the Wife to contact the Daughter and explain the Son will need to leave shortly after/during the dinner. No other compromise. He will be there for his part in the ceremony, pictures, and up to the dinner. I have not heard any responses as of yet, but I expect the Wife to be back home shortly from running the other boys to school, etc, and will see if she has heard back.

Makes me wonder why we had kids ... oh, the procreation part was fun.
