What To Do Now?

 It is another early morning for me. I had the alarm set for 6am, but thanks to the Damn Cat (aka Crack Kitty, and the One I Want to Die) woke me but evidently shaking his water covered fur-face on the bed. Of course, it startled me awake thinking he had sprayed on me... The Wife verified it was only water though. But now I am wide awake. Is it bad I think I want to see him die? Maybe. But he is around 16-17 years old, and since Daisy, our dog, had passed this last year or so, he has lost a lot of weight, and has begun to just crap/pee wherever he feels like it in the house. Yeah, so he is old, but that doesn't give him the right to just empty the old body wherever he feels like it! Thankfully, we have tile floors throughout, so easier to clean up (which we shouldn't have to do) except when he does it in other places (laundry baskets, on the bed, etc). It is very frustrating at times. And the two younger cats? As long as they don't pick up these bad habits, they will be okay, and allowed to live.

So nothing new from the Company since last week. I may be sitting here twiddling my thumbs for a bit ....

Youngest has Homecoming this week. There is a 'movie showing' today after school that he wanted to stay for, and spend time with his girlfriend. Of course, he has practices on Tuesday and Thursday, then the game on Friday. Saturday ends the HC week with the dance that he is planning to attend as well. I believe it is his first dance ever.

The Eldest, and only Daughter, is celebrating her birthday this week. She is that ripe age of 20 years younger than myself. I like to tease her about it, but she is smart (like her Mother) and usually turns it back on me. I'll have to look and see if I can find something on Amazon she could use and have it sent hopefully in time for her birthday.

Thankfully the weather has seemed to finally cooled off. Enough that we are not having 100+ degree temps anymore. This last week has been nice to be outside, and remember what it looks/feels like.

I'm all caught up on my books for review list. I guess since I am up so early, I will start browsing the sites and requesting anything that sounds good. I did load up the tablet with about 20 books the other day. Most this time around are stand-alone novels, though I have been collecting some series that will be added in next time around. 

I suppose I should close this off. I do have some time to play games today, apparently, so at some point I will be on Warcraft, and the viking game I have been playing. It really sucks being bored....

All I know ...

 ... is that it is nearly 2am, and here I am sitting at the computer, unable to fall asleep. I went to bed around 11:30 after watching a movie ('The Pale Blue Eye' on Netflix - was pretty good). I worked a couple crosswords on my tablet, then tucked in to get some sleep. Somehow, sleep never made the agenda evidently.  I'm going to watch an episode or two of something that seems boring, drink some coconut/lime water (picked up at the store at discount price, and it sounded interesting) then probably head back to the bed around 3-4 to try the sleep game again.

Tomorrow I will be sending yet another email to the Company, letting them be aware (AGAIN) that I am available for work. They acknowledged the one I sent two weeks ago, but since have not contacted me in anyway. I don't know if there just isn't any work, or what. I think this time I will send a copy to a person I know that I usually correspond with when a project is starting. Maybe that will help results.

Did not do too much this weekend. The Wife and I went for bbq Saturday at a place over in the 'Slope area called Little Miss BBQ. It has some of the best I have ever had in town. A bit pricey, but always worth it. We followed that up with a trip to the 99 Cent store, as the Wife said we needed a few things. Got my coconut water there, and found a bag of Japanese peanuts which turned out to be pretty tasty. I priced them on Amazon, and I got the bag I did for 1/3 the cost they go for regularly. I'm going back tomorrow (later today) to see if they have anymore left. And maybe another jug of this coconut water - it's pretty good too. Sunday we just stayed around the house.

Still working on my books I am reading for reviews. The first one, I have been working on for a few days now. It is much longer than most others I have read, and it starts a new trilogy to one I read many years ago. Still have a good third of it to go before finishing, so maybe a bit busy the next couple of days.

You be Creative ....

I sat here for several minutes this morning, trying to clear the cobwebs in my head, and deciding what I feel like sharing this morning - if anything. So far all I have accomplished is getting my sugar and BP checks done (both were fine). I haven't even got to popping the handful of pills yet, though between sentences typed, I am getting out each day's dose. Now I am debating if I should take the allergy pill or not. Yesterday was not too bad with the runny eyes, etc, but I also was hardly outside. Might as well take one to be safe. So, you be creative, and pick a post title.

Today, I tell myself, I am going to get things done. I need to take some pictures of the damage to my office chair, to send off for the claim on it. I'm going to include some of the wear and tear as well, to help encourage them. Which reminds me I still need a picture of the Wife's Drivers License, as I am trying to get her birth certificate ordered. Arizona has delayed several times the requirement for air travel, a special "star" on your DL, that can only be obtained by providing proof of residency. Funny, but how did we get a driver's license without the birth cert before? Duh! Either way, she only has a basic photocopy of hers, so we are ordering a fresh certified one. We decided to do this, as we never know when we may need to travel via airline, and never sure when they will require it. I think it is just another way to charge us money.

I also need to get another book review written up. I guess this book is being released in the next few days, and they would like the review up before then. Shouldn't be too hard - I enjoyed the story. The Company has not contacted me about a project yet, so I am still in limbo there. I did get an email back, basically saying they received my notification of availability. That's plus in my book.

Okay, pills have been popped. That's your only warning if things start getting weird around here.

Thursday means it is 'Thirsty Thursday' and is the day the one friend of mine is "allowed out" for a couple hours. I am sure we will be meeting up this evening at one of our watering holes. Kind of funny, that this friend lives literally less than a mile from me, yet I never see him except Thursdays. Between his work schedule, and his weird wife.... Yes, I said weird wife. I won't go into detail, but she is very controlling.

Other than that, looks like my day is going to be wasted either napping (debating going back to bed already) or playing World of Warcraft. Decisions are so hard....

Something to Do For the New Year

About a month ago, I was doing my regular internet surfing, and came across something about Blogging for Books. Being the avid reader I am, it caught my eye, so I slowed down to check it out. Seems that by joining this group I could get a book of my choice sent to me at no cost. All they ask is that I write a review of the book, post it on their website, on a blog, and on a retailer site. Being a blog-owner, an Amazon.com customer, and thinking about joining their group site, I thought, it couldn't hurt to check it out.

I registered at the website (http://waterbrookmultnomah.com/bloggingforbooks/) which was free. Their site navigation wasn't the greatest. A bit slow, and confusing for me anyways. Eventually, I got to the place where I could choose the book I wanted to review. They have only a selected list of available books to pick from. Once one is selected, it takes about 10-14 days to arrive. They ask you read, and within 30 days of reading, post a review - or is that read it within 30 days.... can't remember, but not an issue for me. Once your reviews are posted, you are able to select another book to review. I found out today, that the list of available ones change, so be prepared to not choose another book you saw on the list previously.

This all sounds great, doesn't it? Of course, you need to provide a disclaimer in your reviews. And you can only get one book at a time (which you keep when done). For me, the issue that I do not really care for? It appears after more intense scrutiny, this is a Christian author sight. So, obviously, the books contain Christian idealism, or dealing with issues of faith, and God in this day and age, etc. My first book I reviewed (see previous post) wasn't overly heavy in the churchy content, though I noted some passages that made me wonder if it was a Christianity themed book. Out of the selections available for my next review, I only found one fiction book, the rest being more self-help (if that is possible with God) in bettering oneself in Faith, striving to make your life better kind of stuff.

So, after sharing all that info (for anyone that would be interested - though, I find it a bit humorous that I am posting Christian book reviews on a blog called "Boobies & Beer") tghe point is I will be posting the reviews here occasionally. Be prepared. I am learning how to write reviews, so maybe they will be more informative as time progresses. If you don't care to read them, then don't. I don't care.

Maybe I should start another blog to do the reviews... yeah, that would be better. Now to just think of a blog name...

Book Review : "Tandem" by Tracy Bateman

This was a decent vampire story. Set in a modern day era, in a small Missouri town, two females (one human, one vampire) struggle independently with trying to not lose a family member. Lauryn McBride fights to not lose her father, who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's; and Amede, who is trying to find her sister who has been gone many years. Through several plot twists, their connections and relationships develop to introduce new characters as these two reach internal, emotional finales.
Though I feel the conclusion was a bit shorter in detail than most of the story, I did enjoy the book. A bit different twist of vampire story, and plot twists kept my attention. I would be interested in reading other works from this author. I give it 3/5 stars.
