Noting the Passage of Time

 Monday morning. It sure is. I rolled (almost literally) out of bed around 8am this morning. I did my medical readings. I went through my emails, and sent one to the Company, that I am ready and able to return to active status as of today. Not sure if I really feel that way, but sometimes you just have to 'do what you have to do', and I feel this is one of them. I am sure once I finish writing here, I will be on a tour of my blog reads.

Saturday was busy. Spent a good part of the day taking care of lawn work. I mowed, then worked on the sidewalk and driveway, removing grass from the cracks and such. A big guy like me, down on my knees ... needed to be done, but I am paying for it. Even with knee pads, Sunday I woke hurting in the back, knees, hips, and shoulders. Today, I already have taken a couple acetaminophen, though the aches are not quite as bad. I was not able to finish all the drive, but at least things look nicer out front. Sunday also had a couple of the Sons help get a bunch of bulk trash stuff set out by the curb. Pick up is slated to start this week (but may take two weeks to complete) and we now have a nice stack of wood from the backyard that really needed out of here. Sometimes I am surprised at the amount of stuff the in-laws had 'hoarded' here. I'm not getting on to that subject... just makes me mad.

I don't recall if I mentioned it, but my office chair broke last week. a bolt in connection the arm and chair seat had snapped, and now prevents any sort of comfortable position when trying to lean back, or use that arm (right side). I mentioned to the Wife Saturday I was needing to get out to look for a new chair, and she brought up that they had a lifetime warranty on this one. I spent a few minutes going through the files this morning and found the warranty. I will be reading through it this morning and see what I need to do to get a replacement. Hope it won't take long. It was through a local Staples chain outlet that it was bought. Might require a trip up there (a whole mile away) to pick out another style as this one my be obsolete even after just two years - or out of stock with no intention of renewing.

Went to a late birthday supper for the Youngest on Sunday evening. Oldest Son made it, but Middle Son didn't. Middle was angry at me (for reasons I won't discuss on here) and was avoiding being near me at all costs. Something he will have to work through, sigh. It was nothing fancy, just a local Country Boys dinner. That restaurant has been there for many, many years, but over the past 15 years, it has slowly started dying I think. First the quality of food, started getting worse, then the staff, then the look of the place. We had not been there for a good year or more, and it had slipped from being nearly 24-hour business to closing early on days. They used to provide coupons for return visits, and would allow a large family to use more than one 2-for-1 coupons in one setting. A reason we liked them as a family of 6. They no longer use coupons - at all. Only 1 waitress and 1 cook. I had an all-you-can-eat fish meal. The fish wasn't bad, but the tartar sauce was runny and terrible. Same with the cole slaw. Everyone did eat all they had on the plate, but I didn't ask anyone else how it tasted. Might not be going there anytim e again soon.

Welp, I guess I should go figure out this chair warranty thing, and find something to eat. Be nice if I can just go pick up a new chair and not have to wait extra time. Will find out I guess.

Sometimes, It Just Gets Wasted

 Ugh. It is still early, pre-dawn in AZ at this 5:00 am hour. It won't be long before the sun will be up and over the mountain almost this early in the morning. Thanks Summertime. I have no clue what woke me around an hour ago, but I just could not get back to sleep, so here I am.

It is only Sunday morning, but this weekend feels like it has been "wasted". Yesterday morning, I was woken up by the sound of the Middle Son coming by the house. He and the Youngest were going to Tucson to visit their sister and stay overnight. Our first night in I can't remember being with no kids at home. We have traveled alone overnight before, but never alone at home. The Wife had to attend a Continuing Education course, and had to be gone for nearly half the day, across the Valley no less. After class, ahe came home bringing a late lunch for us from Taco Bell. Then the Wife proceeded to pretty much nap the next few hours away. when it was time for dinner, we decided to go to the Outback near our house -convenient, close-by, and well...they have steak. 

We walked out the door, and headed towards my vehicle, when I nnoticed I had a front tire that was flat. The night before I had noticed the low tire pressure light had come on, and I checked the tires, but seemed fine, though this one had looked a little low. I guess the leak was slow enough it didn't flatten out all the way until I was home. I had not driven at all Saturday, so never noticed until we were going to dinner. Something to get fixed, but I was hungry at that moment so we took the Wife's car.

Outback: needless to say, I don't recall it being as expensive as it was, and the service, though was decent, made us feel like they were trying to rush us through our meal. I don't think we will be returning their anytime soon. After dinner, I retired to the computer, the Wife to her phone. It was nearing the 9 o'clock hour, and I was just feeling mentally/physically tired and just wanted to get some sleep. I forced myself to stay awake until 11pm, then went to bed, read for 20 minutes finishing the newest Mark Greaney, and was out. Until 4 am.

Today - the boys are do back from their overnight out of town, at which time I will shanghai them into changing the tire out on my car. I'll get on the ol' Discount Tire website and see about an appointment for Monday afternoon to take it in. Hoping it is able to be plugged/fixed, versus a new tire, but need to have it fixed either way. The Wife and I are going to Tucson this coming Saturday to celebrate our 31st. Don't want any flats on the way there or back. I was going to do a can of fix a flat, but with the upcoming traveling, I don't think so.

No Post Title

 It's Monday, again, and I am up and ready to go at 6:30am. Normally that is a good thing as it gives me time to get more awake prior to starting work. Except today. Today is a state holiday being Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, and no school, no mail, and for me, no work. Which means to make 40 hours this week I would have to do 4-ten hour days. That ain't happening. Fortunately, I do not HAVE to do that, though many of my co-workers ask all the time for extra hours. I guess it is good to have a financial cushion and not HAVE to have to do the extra time.

The Wife, Youngest Son and I went to Applebee's last night for dinner. Wanted to try someplace "different" than our regular out to eat spots. I had the BBQ brisket tacos, with fries and cole slaw. I have been spoiled, and noticed right away with one bite that the slaw was terrible, and dry. Fries were lightly seasoned and not bad. The tacos were pretty good, having bbq brisket meat, and some fried onions on top, in a flour tortilla. But there were only three small tacos. The Wife and Son had did their $22 for 2 special, and then my dinner, plus drinks the bill wasn't bad, but overall the prices vs serving size isn't that great. Maybe that was why it had been several years since we ate there. I think our last time was about 2-3 year ago when our friends Mike and Leah came out. I think they picked the restaurant then, as well.

Today I am sure I won't be doing much. Playing some Warcraft. Maybe watch a few more episodes of "Yellowstone". Maybe a movie I got saved on Netflix. I got all day to do nothing.
