Another Free Weekend

I only had one thing on the calendar for this weekend and that was the alleged AZ State Riders Convention, to be held at my Post. This whole thing is turning into a fiasco that makes me leery about all the changes coming down the line, and are we actually ready for it. It seems to me to be a bit of a rush job over the past few months to scramble around putting together bylaws that do not supersede the National VFW, etc. When I stopped by the Post yesterday for the first time in awhile, I was talking to the Adjutant (also a Rider) and the information he had was a date had not been picked for the convention, but still needs to be done before the end of June so we can elect State officers. So I am just going to sit on it and wait for official communication at this point.

Yesterday was a relax day basically. I was over the tiredness the sedation left me from the day before. I did my home group meeting, then went for a haircut, then down to the Post. I was back home by about 4:30, and spent the evening at home. My friend Stacey checked in on my yesterday via text as she had not heard/seen me since the about the Riders dinner earlier this month. I caught her up on my medical stuff. She and some others will be up at the Post tonight and asked if I was coming up. I said it depends on how I feel. Right now, I am not sure.

I need to get a new office chair for here at home. The kids bought me this one several years ago, and it has gotten to where the hydraulics on the seat won't keep it raised. Also the wheels are slowly breaking off. I am sure at my way heavier weight, it started the damage. Only about half the wheels are still on it. I've checked a couple Goodwills, but nothing there. I might need to shop Staples online or something.

Another 5:30 morning. I might as well just set my alarm for that time, so I can sleep through the alarm. I dunno. I wake feeling rested. That smart ring says I didn't sleep good last night, but I think I did - for what of it I did sleep. Checking my numbers this morning I see my BP is a bit low (95/56) so going to be taking things slow.

My Sister and BIL have driven in from New Mexico. Guess one of their granddaughters has a dance recital today, and they came back for that. I doubt that they, or I, will have time to get together as they are returning Sunday. I think it is about a 12-14 hour trek for them. Maybe next time...

Welp, guess that is about it for now. Just waiting on Wednesday and hoping they review my medical case. I really want to get on the List and start the real waiting.

Early Morning Rambles

It's barely 2am and I am awake. No, it has nothing to do with the time change that occurred this weekend. Arizona doesn't play that stupid game (thank goodness). It probably has more to do that I went to bed :around  last night. Hopefully, I will watch a couple hours of a show, then be able to fall back asleep until a more respectable hour.

About two weeks ago, I hit my yearly goal I had set, by reading 200 books. Currently I am at 214 read, and should knock out about 10-15 more before year's end. Much of that will be determined if I ever get back to work... Currently no project, but yet another email letting them know I am available will be going out shortly after I post here.

Marching Season is over for the Youngest. This past Saturday was the Pre-State Competition, and they placed 11th - on the top 10 go to State. That should end the evening practices, and many of the Zero Hour practices ha has had to attend.

No plans for now for this week. I know I need to get over to Walgreen's to pick up a prescription for the Wife, and one for myself. I guess you know you are getting old, when you have to plan any errands around getting to Walgreens for prescriptions. Mine if just for another box of lancets, as if I don't already have like 6 other boxes (100 count) sitting here already. When I first started glucose monitoring, they were giving them to me every month. It took months, but now I got them to know I only need replaced every three months, same as the test strips.

Welp, I guess I should get over to my email and get one sent off to the Company. I also need to get a review written for an eARC I finished this past week as well.

Getting More Things Done ..

I'm up and rarin' to go ... not really. It's about 5:20am this morning, and the Damn Cat (aka Rusty, the Crack Kitty) woke me. Figured I might as well get up since I was not sleeping well with my CPAP not working as properly as it should. Electrical tape can only fix so much of the area that has broken through, and the air just seeps out everywhere else it seems, meaning there is loud 'whooshing' noise all night. But there are things that need to get done, and I might as well start now.

So finally got the information I needed to complete the online filing for our taxes from the Wife last night. I guess I will start there this morning. Followed by a call to the MVD Abandonment department once they open around 8 - maybe 9 - this morning. The Wife asked me to run out to the discount grocery to see if they have more protein drinks that She likes for breakfast. Who knows what else they will have this week that I may decide to pick up as well. Hopefully some soda....

While doing my morning pre-med status checks, I realized I must have a Dr appointment coming up soon. I just took a couple moments and signed into the 'MyChart' for the medical system I partake in, and see I have one coming up in early May. I recorded my numbers in my log book this morning (Glucose 168, BP 140/78 - goals were Glucose=<140 and BP 140/80 or better). I haven't been the best at keeping my log, as there are times several days have gone by without a recording. Mostly because I forget. I still remember to take my meds (most days) so there is that.

The Middle Son came over yesterday and with the Younger's help, we managed to get a good portion of the front lawn taken care of. He also helped the Wife in the back yard with stuff around her garden.

Welp, nothing ain't gonna get done unless I get it started....

F'ing App Notifications

T'was surely a beautiful Saturday morning - or was until I was awakened at 5:30am by an app notification from my phone. Of course, this notification sound is the same that I use for text messages (and a few other apps) so I have to roll over and check it, just in case. One never knows if one of the older boys had car issues they need help with, or something of important is going on. I am not 'super tech savvy' so have not been able to set-up different notifications sounds for individual apps, or even go through and say what apps I want to be notified by sound by. I am sure it is something that can be done, I just haven't bothered to do so. I pay for it with things like this mornings "alarm".

So, awake, of course the body starts in on the needing to do the morning constitutionals. Now I am awake, so mosey into the 'office'. I do have a book review I need to write up and post. It wasn't a great book, but that's why they want reviews. Then I suppose I will go through some of my book sites and see what else is coming out that I may try to get in exchange for reviews.I should get a couple checks I have sitting here to the bank, but don't need to think about that for a few hours yet.

Thursday night I did meet up with the oldest Son. We ended back at one of the pubs I regular at, and met up with a couple of my other friends. We were having such a good time, talking about things goingon in our lives, it was 2am before we knew it. We went across the street, Son, my friend, and I, to Deenys and had an early breakfast. I trested the drinks, the Son treated the breakfast. Afterwards we ended up at my house, where I called a Lyft for him to get home. What a great night!

Did my counts this morning, and everything is good. Just took my pills, and am deciding what flavor of granola bar is for breakfast - no Dennys today....

Middle of the Week and Nothing

Seems like the days pass quickly by when you ain't got nothing to do. Still waiting to hear on work - might ned to send another email and remind them I am still here waiting. Starting to get a little warm outside now. I think it hit like 107 yesterday, and it is still early June.

I have been doing more reading, since I am not working. I set a goal this year of  books, but probably need to raise that, as I am at  already, and not quite at half through the year. The hard part it seems this year is finding a good read. I do try out several authors in the catagories I enjoy reading (fantasy, urban fantasy, etc) and sometimes, they just don't pan out. Or worse, after four or five books into this series, it's like burn-out. I don't know if it is me, or just the wriiting style will just disappear. Kind of like, they were writing content in the beginning, now they just want to put another book out and make money. Sigh. I dunno. Just my thought.

Monday night I had a weird feeling come over me. It felt pretty omnious, so I did a text check-iun with the Wife, the four kids, even RM and my brother. All said back they were fine, and shortly after the last text came back, the feeling went away. No idea what it was about. I know RM has had premonition dreams, or wake suddenly in the night not knowing why. I figured it coulda been that, so texted everyone. Haven't heard anything from friends or other family, so who knows.

Was up early today, around 4:20 ('ear, man) and knew sleep would not be back so have been up awhile. Got done a couple reviews I needed to get done, and looked up some more books to request ARCs for reading. I may not write a professional review piece, but at least I get quite a few new books.

Welp, I guess I am off to browse through my blog reads, then maybe a movie on Netflix or something.

Working On The Weekend

Hello 5 am. Your friend 4 am was here earlier, like when I awoke, and couldn't get back to sleep. Even though it is not anywhere near 6 am which is what my alarm was set for, since I have to work this morning. Yeah, early Saturday working for inventory. The result of getting yesterday off. I think I might have preferred to work yesterday instead. Though, waking this early would really stink if I did not have to work ... At least today should be only until noon. Maybe.

Not much otherwise going on. The Wife celebrates her (and the MIL's birthday) on Sunday. I plan on taking them out to a dinner tonight to a restaurant of their choice. I was able to get out last weekend and pick up a few things for the Wife.

It's still a bit chilly here. I am wearing shorts today to work though. Wearing a pair of jeans the past couple of days just felt ... too weird. As long as the wind isn't blowing up the pants legs, shorts should be fine for me.

Got nothing else at this early hour. After all, it is too dark outside to see anything yet.
