Going To Be A Long One

I have been awake all night. I went to bed about 10:30p and took my new med to help get to sleep, as instructed - at bedtime. It never seemed to take effect. Since I had started taking it, it seems I was asleep in under 20 minutes. Last night, though, I tossed and turned until 11:30p, then went and watched a episode of a show, then returned to bed only to repeat again around 1:30a. I'm only supposed to take one, so not sure what to do. I guess wait and see what happens over the next few days, as to if the meds are still working or not, before I get in touch with the nurse practitioner. Hate playing around with this insomnia.... the lack of sleep is getting harder for me to handle it feels at times.

Other than the lack of sleep, and maybe no chance for a nap, the day has basically begun already. My Viking game has it's regular 12 hour clash started. I will need to be at the VFW tonight as it is my turn to sale 50/50 raffle tickets for the NYE Committee. I don't think there will be many sales, and this will probably be the last week, as it seems the committee has pretty much collected the monies for everything we have planned out.

Thanksgiving on Thursday went much better than I had been thinking it may go. I am a pessimist, so go figure. There was more food than we really needed, but that guaranteed we all ate plenty. I know leftovers were sent home with the Middle Son (of mine) and us. I think RM kept a plate of food for PT to have later. I have gotten through the potatoes, most of the giblet gravy, the deviled eggs, and a portion of the salad we brought home. Haven't touched the turkey, as I am hoping the Wife will make turkey Enchiladas this weekend (but not tonight, as I won't be home to have fresh and hot).

My numbers were a little high this morning: 136 glucose, and the BP was 141/67 (avg 125'ish and a BP of 133/70) I figure the BP was higher since I was feeling frustrated and being awake all night.

Did a little online shopping yesterday. Well, very little. I found three books I wanted to get for my Doodad - whether her Dad reads them to her, or I will when I am there. I have another book her at my house, the collected poems and works of James Whitcomb Riley, that I hope to someday be able to get her to settle down and let me share a couple stories in it. The Bear Story has always been a favorite of mine. Plus the vernacular that was spoken back then, make the story so much better as well.

Welp, I guess I need to get back to my game, and whatever else I gotta do this morning.

WTF? SMH (/facepalm)

Since Wednesday, this post title is pretty much explaining how I have felt about a situation going on. Let's just say, there were some unexpected surprises about things, mysteries that showed up and never got solved. And an Aunt passed away earlier today. I'm still in a sort of stasis about the whole thing, and I don't think it will correct itself, as some  of the whys, hows, and again, why, will never be known. I am trying to be nice, and not sound callous (though I tend to be apathetic about things sometimes) but I was not "close" to this Aunt, nor her children (my Cousins). In my memories I have not recollected any fond memory of her. I think the bottom line is she was tired of living in pain (had RA) and is now passed away.

Thursday I finally heard from the Company. But it took a couple hours for me to get a reply to the email, so by then the project they were getting workers for 'filled up' and left me hanging. Hopefully this next week another will be starting (or a current one opening up more positions). But either way kind of works for me, as I have the diabetic eye screening on Monday, and a regulardoctor appointment on Friday. I am sure there will be a prescription medication dosage increase as my numbers are not quite where he said he wants them - but they are close. Hopefully if he has to up the diabetic one, the insurance will approve the coverage since he has proof the numbers are not up to where he would like them.

Two in the morning and I just finished talking for a bit with the Youngest. I let him stay up a little later as he was teaming up with Guildies to do some Warcraft raids or dungeons or something. Then as he said he was ready for bed, I kind of went over the schedule of stuff I knew we had going on this week, so if I was not home, he would have an idea as to why.

So talking to one of the ladies I knwo from the VFW, she has been having some problems with her iPad. Basically, it would not let her access the tablet, as the code had changed from a 4-digit one to a 6-digit. I did some reading and found out why, and some ways that may work to fix it. We tried the easy ones over this past week, and none worked. So Friday I met up with her at the VFW and picked up the tablet, adn was going to do a factory restore on it. The only thing she would be losing is the books she had downladed, from Amazon, but can be re-downladed once she has access again. So I started that today, thinking it would be an hour or so then be done - nope. Download estimate was 4 hours. Then 5 hours, after the Wife got up and got on her computer. I knew when the Son would be up, between the three of us being online, the d/l would slow even more, so I paused it. As I try to sleep again here soon, I will leave it running (right now est is 3 hours).

Might go see the Top Gun movie tomorrow (later today). Haven't decided for sure. Youngest and Wife want to see it as well, so I guess I should take them. Guess I am gonna mosey on out. Should go try to lay down again, but not quite feeling any tiredness yet, so will prolly delay that another hour.

Is It Back Again?

Hello three forty in the morning. I have waited all night to meet you. Literally. Went to bed around midnight (later than my norm) and by 1 was back up, not feeling any signs of sleep approaching. I have done nothing but watch inane videos for the last 2 3/4 hours, hoping that I would get bored and sleepy, then return to bed. But, no. I think my old nemesis, Insomnia, has returned to visit. I will be trying to rest my head within the next hour, to try to get at least 3-4 hours of sleep, but no idea if I will be successful.

No major plans this weekend. Which means if I feel the need for a nap tomorrow (rather, later today) I shouldn't have anything pressing to worry about being on time about. Of course, if I nap, then I might not sleep well come evening. Pros and Cons.

Nothing else to write about today. Feeling a little more tired now, so going to try to get some sleep.

Again With the Early Hours

The past couple nights has been back to not sleeping well. In bed around 10:30-11:00 and awake at 3. Find something to do until 6'ish, and try to lay back down. Sometimes I can "nap" at that point. Most mornings I can't.

I will admit that this night I had some pretty weird dreams. I know I was thinking about past jobs yesterday evening, and it probably brought on some of the weirdness. In the dream I was working, but it was a combination of the several jobs I have had over the past 30+ years. Didn't dream much about what *my* position was, but had many co-workers I have known (some liked, some not) in there. Some of them have passed now, which was a bit weird, too.

Still waiting to hear on the current job. Supposedly they are still finalizing contract details. It's been going on for three weeks now. hope they get it done soon.

The Youngest and online schooling is going fine so far. Some of the other schools in the Valley have opted for hybrid classes - where the student population is split and some attend certain days, the other half the other, and online when not physically at the school. Son's school said they would re-visit this idea around October, once there is better numbers regarding Covid outbreaks, etc. He may physically be in classes before the end of the year, but no band events for sure. I don't think their football team has a season this year either, even though I have heard some schools are doing shorter seasons.

Hello Darkness My Old Friend

The body woke me up at about 3 this morning. Seems it wanted me to get up and go relieve my bladder. Then it decided since I was already there, the bowels needed some movement as well. Needless to say, I almost added emptying my stomach, since it felt like doing that, too, once the bowels started emptying. Oh my. It was bad. But I feel so much better now, and I think the HazMat crew is able to finish up and leave now.

Needless to say, I am wide awake at an hour reserved for ... well, not for me. It is almost 4:30 now, and I would like to go nap, but am too awake to think about more than tossing and turning in the bed. I need to be up in a couple hours anyways, to take the son to school. Maybe after that I will be sleepy enough to nap before work. Otherwise, it may turn into a long day.

Saturday was a nice day. The Wife and I went out to do some grocery shopping without the kids in tow. Then that evening met up with my buddy Don, his girlfriend, Truemaine, and the four of us adults had dinner at Black Angus, a steak house for those that haven't heard of it. Dinner might have only been a couple hours, but it was nice to get out for some "adult" time. The Wife said she was happy and that works for me.

Today is MLK day. I have hashed on this before, so am not going to revisit my bigoted opinion about it. I know I am not one of the people that get this day off from work, and get no special extra pay for working a "holiday". Yeah, getting pissy just thinking about this bullshit day.

Got some other things I might as well catch up on while I am awake this morning.

Edit: Duh. Almost 6:30 and I realize, the kids are out of school today, and I don't have to take anyone. Why am I still awake?

Ugh! Another Long Morning.....

I can tell today is going to suck already. I know it as it is only 1:30 in the freakin' AM, and I am already awake. Can't seem to fall asleep, so I am wasting time trying to find something to make me sleepy. It isn't reading like what usually happens. I did that earlier, and was up later than normal (good part in the book) and just am not tired from it tonight.

Had a nice dinner out at the pizza place with RM & PT along. It wasn't a big fancy deal, but what the son wanted. He received a Nintendo DS for his present from us, and was just ecstatic. It sure makes us as parents feel good when the kids react like that to something we get them.

Reverend Mother will be celebrating a birthday tomorrow. I asked her at dinner if she had any big plans, but the answer was no. Seems they have some obligation they need to attend to, then they just have nothing written down as planned. I told PT he better think of something good in the time he has left, because you know RM isn't going to plan it on her own. She's leaving it up to him to do something for her on her birthday.
And I know you both read this blog, so.... enough said!

I managed to waste 10 minutes so far. Still not tired. Sigh. Oh well, off to try something else. Worse case scenario is I will be napping during the mid day.

The Elusiveness of Sleep

In my past, I have had my bouts of insomnia. My times of restlessness wen trying to retire for the night. The late night stress and worrying thoughts that keep coming to mind. Even the middle of the night wakings for the babies (thankfully not more than one at a time). Each time it happened, it was dealt with. Sometimes a nap, or earlier bedtime the next evening. Though there have been times where I have gone several nights without any sleep, that was years ago, when I was younger. I feel the toll now, when sleep eludes me.

The other night, I retired to my bedroom at the same time as usual. Brought in my Kindle, settled into bed. I read a bit longer, as I was at the end of the current book. But still I had problems getting to sleep. I awoke at the usual time the next morning (once I did get to sleep) and felt tired most of the day. No naps, lay down to rest, nothing of the sort. I wanted to push the tiredness so I would hopefully sleep better that evening. We had a good dinner out, and I was comfortably full; the drowsy feeling was starting upon me. I went through the normal routine at the regular time, anticipating falling asleep.

And it happened. Slumber overtook me.

Then dropped away quickly a few short hours later, after I awoke from a startling dream. It was gone. I laid there trying to recapture slumberland, but between the fast beating of my heart, and the surge of adrenaline that felt like it was pulling a Nascar race in my bloodstream, I knew there was no going back. After about 45 minutes of trying, I finally decided I might as well arise and greet the day. Only, the day wasn't out yet. The sun not risen from it's Eastern bed.

As usual, Facebook was a time waster.
