If The DEA Knew ...

... about the amount of drugs (prescriptions) I have picked up (legally) this week, I am sure I would be border-line arrestable. Well, maybe that isn't totally true, but I feel like it. I have already been up to the pharmacy twice, and have yet another order ready for me to pick up. I am not complaining by any means. I 'need' these per Mayo, to get by until the transplant. I trust them, as I have no choice, really. I have no knowledge that would lead to a different route. I recall this past Wednesday, while with the nurses as they prepped my albumin drip, they had asked my plans. I said I was getting a burrito from Al Pollo Loco, then picking up some drugs - I got a hard look. 'You mean prescriptions, right?' they asked. I convinced her that yes, I meant prescriptions ... then when she turned away I rolled my eyes. This nurse wasn't one of the ones you could joke with, and I had not seen her before. Oh well, such is life.

I was left home yesterday evening, unsupervised, and you know that isn't always a good thing. But I tried to make it one. I found another online AA meeting and decided to attend. It doesn't hurt to get out there and try different groups. I wasn't too sure about this one. I did know two people there, as they are in my home group, but otherwise, knew no one. I wasn't really 'welcomed' in, though that doesn't matter to me. Just an observation. There was a good topic of discussion on Faith and Acceptance, and I heard some good shares, but overall, the group mentality to me just wasn't clicking. I may try this group again another time, and see if it, or I, have changed.

Yesterday evening I was teasing with RM. I had some notifications go off on my phone, and I went to check them. I accidently opened up the Circle 360 app that RM and I share a circle on. I noticed it said she was not at home... Curious, I looked on the map as to where she was. She had been sitting at this location for 22 minutes, in a neighborhood area that has many shops and restaurants. Thinking she had recently finished her workday, PT must have wanted to go out to eat. From the map in this app I could not tell what restaurant they were at, but texted her anyways: 'Oooo, what restaurant are you eating at?'. No reply came. I shrugged my shoulders and figured she may not have heard my text, or was busy and would get to it later, which she did about an hour later. Turns out it was Denny's, so I had pretty much guessed correctly.

Nothing really planned today. Meeting at the usual time. Yesterday I went to Mayo's Transplant support group. They had a couple in-hospital pharmacists there to answer medication questions (of their capability). It was interesting, and I learned the names and some side effects of the anti-rejection pills I could be taking for the rest of my life. They briefly explained how at each medication change, they review our labs, what we take currently, how the new dose/medicine could react with those. Overall it was interesting. I took some notes, but I am not sure they will do me much good - I'll get what they give me.

And with that, I think I will close this off today. Remember, having a shitty day does not make you a shitty person.

When It Starts With A Coffee ....

... you know it is going to be a day. It is barely 9am and I have downed my cup of coffee this morning. Not that it is totally weird, but I don't drink coffee often, and my mug is one of those ones big enough to be 2. ...And now I see it is *really* going to be a weird day. I just did my numbers for the morning, and they are: BP 97/54, pulse 58, glucose 128. What do the numbers mean? Well, that's the lowest BP I think I have EVER had, and this one was after 4 readings. It kept coming up lower, so, even though it showed I had battery power, I replaced the batteries, and got this reading. and the glucose is about my normal range.

So the BP is a little lower than my average of 105-110/ 65'ish. Am I just that relaxed and lethargic this morning? Or is something going on? I don't know....

Things have finally slowed down a bit in the medical area of my life. With Mayo Clinic involved, and the doctors all  'stepping back', my appointments have almost disappeared. Seemed like a had a blood draw and a paracentesis and an appointment somewhere every week (I'm sure I'm exaggerating a bit). Either way, now I am doing the paracentesis once a week (this month on Wednesdays at 11am) and that's about it. Mayo has nothing for me until the 17th, when I do an online 'Zoom-type' education class about the preliminary procedures for transplant, etc. that Mayo does. After that, I'm just waiting on the list of places I need to go, and doctors I need to see, on the week of the 23rd. Liver, Kidney and PCP all backed off and I have those appointments in April (2 with bloodwork - always taking blood...). Kind of nice, but leaves quite a bit of time to think about things - and that is  sometimes a bad thing. My imagination can get pretty wild.

Got some reading done! Having forced myself to try again, I found I am able to read without the comprehension issues I was having before. I thin it may have been part of the encephalophagy, so good sign that the meds are improving that? I hope so... Either way, I got onto Goodreads last night and updated my  reading goals for the year. I thin k I mentioned I dropped it from 250 to 100 this year, since I was having the reading issue. I think it may still be hard to hit 100, as I can read and comprehend better, but still "tire" the mind fairly quick in a short time span. Gotta build up the endurance again! I know RM is happy about it, as I Am her "Reader Child", and enjoy books as she does. On a side note, RM, I found out this last week that one of my Riders is a published author! He actually came to me and was talking about it, versus me searching him out. He said he has like nine books, and gave me a list of six of them for now. So, I have a mission this weekend to locate one of the books and check it out. It'd be cool to know him, and enjoy his books! Plus, the author signatures!

I need to work on the meeting notes from this past Tuesday's House & Entertainment meeting. Shouldn't be too bad, as the House part was short, and the Entertainment was mostly confirming event issues for the upcoming 100th Birthday of the VFW Post at the end of the month. This Tuesday is our regular general meetings. Friday (3/13) is the Rider's Dinner night, and we are bringing back our Soup Night! Have several sign-ups (finally) and it is happening.

Welp, late last week, and early this week, the registration department at Banner Hospital has called me several times. The first was the usual every week call, to re-verify all my information for me, billing insurance, etc. Then they called back saying that I have reached my out of pocket with my insurance (I knew this) but still had a balance to pay at the hospital (of course I do, and I plan to pay it). They practically were demanding I do a payment plan with them, and not just a random figure, it has to be broken down over a 12- or 24-month period, so if I said $100/month, they were like no, and we arrived at a final figure of about $259/month for the time being. Their loss. Before, they were "requiring" a patient payment of $342 for each para I got (4 per month) so now they get $259/mo, instead of a $342 payment every two weeks. Huh, 250 instead of 684...hospital math?

Sigh. Seems that is all I think about nowadays is medical crap, and payments. Such has become my life at this time. It is even starting to interfere with my VFW work. And let's not even start about the job searching....

Think I covered most of what's happening around here. The Wife and I have our 35th Anniversary coming up the end of this month, and have pretty much decided that I would make plans. We are going to do a weekend in southern AZ, as I have not travelled that part of the state much. I haven't really been checking hotels in some of the larger towns like Bisbee, Tombstone, and Sierra Vista (near Ft Huachuca Army base) but need to work on it more. mostly looking at events going on at that location, or regular daily activities. Something new for the Wife and I to do. It has become sort of our goal after the Youngest graduated HS, and that is to try to get out more to social events/happenings not just in our area, but the Valley, or where we are travelling to/from. We've had some good ones, and some bad ones, but it was something we did together, and had not done before (some of them).

Welp, I need to close this off and shoot RM a text letting her know I posted something. Then I will get my stuff together and get out of the house. Have a prescription to pick up. Should run the car through the car wash. Then head to the VFW, where I will bring up my laptop and do the meeting minutes, and probably end of searching for our anniversary stuff as well.

Welp, Something Got Done ... Sorta

" I woke this morning, probably around 9:30am, and thought to myself, 'Self, what are you going to actually get done today?' and self answered, 'I got some ideas." And so it started. Came into the office and got through the emails, the FB updates, my book searches and watchlists. Then I decided to do something. I went ahead and went to Walgreens, to get the shingles shot. I knew my PCP had okayed it for me, as it won't interfere with any medications, and I found out a few days ago, it is $0.00 payment to do it (preventative). I did not know, it was a two-part vaccine. I went ahead and did the first one, and the second can be done anytime after 3/20, according to the paperwork they gave me on it. Then I am done for life with it.

I figured, well, heck. All I have this morning is my handful of pills, and a gulp of juice. Might as well run on up the freeway five miles to my PCP and go get the blood drawn she wants to do. So I did. And a urine cup. By now I am a bit hangry, and thirsty, and sore! I know they said the vaccine shot could cause some arm soreness, but this is almost all my shoulder. I wave the arm around a bit, and kind of massage where I got the shot, and it backs off for awhile. Hopefully only a couple days of it.

Seeing how now we are heading towards the 11 o'clock hour, I determined it was time to eat, and plan my afternoon. Most Fridays I go up to the Post. Today I decided to do the regular, and on the way, stop at the gyro place I did for lunch yesterday. I didn't opt for the lamb or chicken (though I still want to try those) but went for the beef shwarma again. Then off to the Post. Sat out back and ate while watching a couple members spread that garage paint/epoxy over the patio area that they had not finished yesterday. The smoking area is looking nice now! Painted tables matching each branch of service, new looking floor paint. And they have plans to have a mural done on the back wall, but I do not know what design/image they want to do.

After a couple hours, and pretty much just a bit over one tea, I decided I was done there. Barely after 2pm. I just wasn't in the mood to sit there today and listen to the talk. Nothing bad, just wasn't feeling it. So home I went. What will I do next, I wonder....

Well, I have several things in the works. I did get the trimmer line, so I went ahead and loaded up the spool on the trimmer. Went out front, and geez, my yard is crap. Wife has flowers/bushes/whatever planted up near the house (which I don't like) and the grass around them, and about 3 feet out, is like a foot high plus in areas. Rest of the yard had been last mowed maybe a month or so ago? But it needs it again. Much of the Bermuda grass that grows here, acts like that crab grass, grows out, plants again, moves on. Had quite a bit coming off the yard around the edges of the driveway, as well as the crap growing up from the cracks in the drive. I did the front walkway (trimmed the edges of the walk to the driveway) and knocked out a section of the driveway that didn't have a vehicle on it currently. Then I put on the knee pads and got down to cut/pull/scrape the grass roots from the cracks to help prevent them coming back so fast. After awhile, I got fatigued. Didn't even get a fifth of the yard done, but tomorrow afternoon maybe I can get another hour or so out there, with help from the Youngest.

Tomorrow morning I will be up for District 3 meetings at the Post. Start at 9am (instruction and audit) then meeting from 10-12, followed by a lunch my Aux puts on for the District meetings as they are held at our Post. Last quarter it was pizza - maybe do some kind of sandwiches or pinwheels this time. I don't know what was decided.

I read over at RM's blog that she took today and Monday off from work. I didn't get a chance to reach out to her today to possibly meet for lunch, but it sort of sounded like she had things she was working on getting done while off today. I should reach out and see about Monday for lunch. Gotta figure out where though. Sunday is clear for me. Monday is another paracentesis in the morning. The rest of the week has no doctor appointments, bloodwork, VFW meetings, or anything else I know of. First week since September I think, that has been that clear.

Had to go back and read a couple posts put up recently. My Rybelsus (diabetic medicine) issue with the insurance and doctor. Well, Monday we did an A1C and it was at 5.3, plus the prior one I had (think September?) it was also 5.<something>. Seems the insurance no longer wanted to cover the medication as my A1C numbers had dropped so well into the good range. My PCP wanted to keep me on it until my next appointment (3 months) and re-evaluate, possibly remove it. Well, PCP emailed me, since insurance won't pay for it, and I have been off it already for two weeks, we will just see how my numbers are at the next appointment. So one less med already....

So this insurance coverage for facility for transplant... I know what Banner called and said. I tried looking online, but could not confirm through Mayo or BCBS if they were in network. It has to a "Blue Distinction Specialty" facility, and I tried looking again just now. I see some of those types of facilities here in the Valley, but none specifically saying for liver. I guess something to talk about with my liver doc next month - maybe I could get the prelims done at St Joe's instead. I don't know. I wish you could walk into the insurance and talk to someone face to face with questions about coverage for who and where and what. Same with the SSA. Or any Government place, heck, for many places.

And that is about all I have today....

Time For a Drug Run

I'm up a bit early today. Did the normal take the pill and in bed by around 10p, and slept until about a 530a, so not 8 hours, but a good 6 at least. I woke feeling ready to face the day, rather than groggy and tired from not sleeping well.

Today is a drug run day, meaning I need to get to Walgreens to pick up yet another prescription. I received a call about Wednesday of last week from Walgreens, it was automated of course, saying my regular prescriptions would be ready this week. Regular? I thought they all were, and I didn't have any "special" ones... I don't know. I know Friday I received a text that one of the seven prescriptions was ready, and that one I will pick up today. I need to ask about another, as I am down to only 4 pills, as to when it will be ready. Then I'm going to ask about getting them all scheduled for one day to pick them all up versus this every week through the month thing. I used to have it that way, but with new 'scripts and getting them approved by insurance, etc, it has spread them all out again.

Weekend wasn't bad. I ended up Saturday at the Post, later than my usual, but still had a good time. Was requested to karaoke the Grinch song, and it went over well. Sunday was the Wife's birthday. I spent the afternoon lazily playing games on the computer. In the evening, I took her out to Texas Roadhouse, as we had some gift cards to use. The Wife and Youngest had left to pick up his girlfriend, and I was meeting them at the restaurant, and after putting in our names, realized I forgot the gift cards at home. Well, guess that means we got to go another time to use them. Oldest Son was able to join for dinner, though the other kids could not. It was good to catch up a bit with him and things going on in his life. I did let him know Christmas options, and he will have to get back to me.

This coming Saturday is the 6th Annual Santa Run that my buddy and I started. Oldest Son is looking forward to it (he is one of the originals from the start) as we get to share some time together. I pretty much organized the whole thing this year, as my buddy had other things going on. Which means I paid for the party bus we will use for transportation. So I am hoping (and by my approximate count) we get at least 15 guys this year (I estimate about 18 from 'verbal yeses') so that will cover the cost. Anything above the cost will be driver tip, and extra shot round for the Santas. I may even pocket a small cost for the candy canes that we give out as well (I buy them each year and am never reimbursed). So, I'm a little nervous about this getting started and collecting the monies.

Guess that is all I got to share this morning....

Going To Be A Long One

I have been awake all night. I went to bed about 10:30p and took my new med to help get to sleep, as instructed - at bedtime. It never seemed to take effect. Since I had started taking it, it seems I was asleep in under 20 minutes. Last night, though, I tossed and turned until 11:30p, then went and watched a episode of a show, then returned to bed only to repeat again around 1:30a. I'm only supposed to take one, so not sure what to do. I guess wait and see what happens over the next few days, as to if the meds are still working or not, before I get in touch with the nurse practitioner. Hate playing around with this insomnia.... the lack of sleep is getting harder for me to handle it feels at times.

Other than the lack of sleep, and maybe no chance for a nap, the day has basically begun already. My Viking game has it's regular 12 hour clash started. I will need to be at the VFW tonight as it is my turn to sale 50/50 raffle tickets for the NYE Committee. I don't think there will be many sales, and this will probably be the last week, as it seems the committee has pretty much collected the monies for everything we have planned out.

Thanksgiving on Thursday went much better than I had been thinking it may go. I am a pessimist, so go figure. There was more food than we really needed, but that guaranteed we all ate plenty. I know leftovers were sent home with the Middle Son (of mine) and us. I think RM kept a plate of food for PT to have later. I have gotten through the potatoes, most of the giblet gravy, the deviled eggs, and a portion of the salad we brought home. Haven't touched the turkey, as I am hoping the Wife will make turkey Enchiladas this weekend (but not tonight, as I won't be home to have fresh and hot).

My numbers were a little high this morning: 136 glucose, and the BP was 141/67 (avg 125'ish and a BP of 133/70) I figure the BP was higher since I was feeling frustrated and being awake all night.

Did a little online shopping yesterday. Well, very little. I found three books I wanted to get for my Doodad - whether her Dad reads them to her, or I will when I am there. I have another book her at my house, the collected poems and works of James Whitcomb Riley, that I hope to someday be able to get her to settle down and let me share a couple stories in it. The Bear Story has always been a favorite of mine. Plus the vernacular that was spoken back then, make the story so much better as well.

Welp, I guess I need to get back to my game, and whatever else I gotta do this morning.

What New With You?

Sometimes, it is the little things that just wear a person out mentally. This past week, it has been all about getting my new prescription filled at the pharmacy. I mentioned in the last post (from last Monday) the issues, and yes, they were finally resolved this past week. Tuesday I had went in for the blood draw for my lab work, and while at the Dr's office, asked about the authorization from the insurance for the prescription. They gave me the info they received (an email) which I took a copy with me. Then off to the pharmacy, where I spoke to the pharmacist, gave him the email, explained what was going on. He said he would call the insurance. An hour or so later, he calls me, the insurance company now is saying they need me to call them, to 'finalize authorization' - note, Thursday the week prior they had said it was all taken care of. So I got the number he was given. I was tired, and took a nap. After waking, I called the insurance company, was told just two hours prior to my call (and after they spoke to the pharmacy) everything had been taken care of (again). Later that afternoon, I got the text the 'script was ready for pick up. So I have been on the new med for a couple days, and haven't seen much improvement in my glucose levels. Might be it takes a bit longer.

After that fiasco, I was pretty much done dealing with anything for the week. I know, I'm a wimp.

As of this morning, I am now officially a member of the VFW Post 1433 Sandy Coor Riders Org. Late last night I had seen a post on the VFW post site about an open meeting this morning to start a chapter at my Post, so I got up early and went. No, I don't have a motorcycle, and I don't ride at all. No plans to get one. I signed on as 'Support Staff' and as of right now, am the only support they have. Of course, this was the first meeting, and since I didn't even know about it until late last night, I am sure many others didn't know either. Next month's meeting will bring more in I am sure. But this does mean I get a patch, so now have an excuse to get a leather vest to put it on, and look like a biker dude at the meetings and events we will eventually schedule and host. Heck, I already got some tats and the biker beard.

Nothing major planned for this week. Monday will get the usual email to the Company. I think this week I will play around with Google calendar, and see if I can start putting int he dates of things going on that I seem to not remember until they right upon the time of occurrence. Then I can sync with my phone as well. Never really sued it before, so will have to "learn" it.

Welp, Need to go take care of some other things now....

Anxiety Builds

Saturday afternoon I received a phone notification that an email had been received. As the usual, I ignored it after hearing the 'ding' notification sound, until I had a break later on. It was the Company, stating that they had a "potential project" that 'MAYBE' slated to start 5/6, more than likely 5/8, that had NOT been client approved at the time of the email. The Company was sending out notice, so that they could find out actual availability of employees for this POSSIBLE project. Individual replies would NOT be monitored, as the email went out to "hundreds of employees". I responded from my phone, that I was available, before seeing there was a link to complete an 'availability survey', which I did later that evening when I got home - too hard to read it on the phone.

So, I know it is only slightly after 3am (not sleeping well again) but I have not heard from the Company with any follow-up information. I know that there is a distinct chance I will not be chosen for the project, but it is the first time in quite awhile they have even mentioned possible work. I have been looking for other related work-from-home (remote) jobs, but have not found anything that suits me, or that I am willing to do. So for now, it is a waiting game to see if this project comes to fruition or not.

Later this morning I also have a doctors appointment. Rather, a Nurse Practitioner appointment. Right now she has me on seven medications to cover all my medical issues (well, most of them). The past six months I have been seeing this particular NP she has adjusted the meds at least 4 times (over the zero changes the prior 1 1/2 years from three others). Two weeks ago she wanted to get me off the Metformin, and replace it with Rybelsus. I did some reading on it, and for what the NP will want, is dose changes every 30 days starting at a 3mg to 7mg to 14mg, each costing more money per 30 day supply (even with a MFR 'savings coupon'). I was to start it 2 weeks ago, but somewhere in the process, someone, somehow, inputted something wrong, and the insurance won't approve it because of a mis-match on the patient (me) address. I verified with the pharmacy, and the 'MyChart' for the NP, that my address is correct. To spite this, the same day, the insurance filled all my other prescriptions with no problem. So my guess is someone typed/transferred something wrong (from the NP office) so I am sure this will be discussed today. Other than that, I am thinking of asking about some sleeping aid. The OTC Melatonin and sleep capsules don't seem to work at all.

Sigh. Other things I need to get done this week.... mow the lawn. I really hate having grass in Arizona. It gets too fricking hot to do it in most of the months, and doesn't grow well (dry spots, etc) unless you have a good sprinkler system (I don't) and landscapers cost too much to come and mow it each month. Aside from that, the last time the Wife let me hire some landscaper to mow the lawn, they weed-eater'ed (new word folks!) a couple of her rose bushes to ruin, and she was not happy. Even I don't use the trimmer around her plants anymore. I leave it for her to do whether she uses the trimmer or does it by hand.

I also need to get the Youngest's car up into emissions for registration before the 15th. It has been sitting in the drive and needs to be "jumped" again. I swear this child has no motivation to learn to drive, and never asks about it. And he is graduating this month. HE will need to drive to get a job, because he ain't living here forever.

Argh! Being tired has gotten me a bit cranky this morning. I guess I better close this off before I get really mouthy about things.

A Post Of Nothingness

So Tuesday I had my doctor appointment. The Nurse Practioner was nice. We went over my current BP averages, and my glucose averages. She did a diabetic foot inspection. I mentioned an issue about my test strips and lancets being changed by the last NP, and I wanted them changed back, but I forgot to bring in examples so she would know what I am talking about. I have enough to get by until the next appointment (3 months). As she checked my breathing/heartbeat, she mentioned the heart murmur that has shown up off/on since I was a kid. Wanted to do an EKG, but saw I had one done last May and so was not needed again. Instead she wanted certain lab work related to the blood/heart done, so this morning I am headed up there in a bit to have that done. Hate having to fast for it, but it is what it is. Oh, and we are adjusting my diabetic meds a bit. Insurance will not cover a higher dosage of one of the pills, so we are lowering the mg amount, and doubling up on how many I take, to see if that will eb allowed by insurance. And it must, as I have a text from Walgreens to pick them up this morning.

The Youngest is wanting to play hooky from school today, I think. He 'missed his bus' and then complains of nausea, and asks if we have anything for it (I'm sure he knows we don't). Waiting to hear from the Wife what her decision is. The bus he misses often, and she drops him off on her way to work. So we will see...

I think that about covers the nothingness that is going on right now.

Weekly Recap (meaning, I got nothing really to share)

It has truly been another boring week for me. I did go out a couple nights and hang out with friends, but mostly I just 'vegged out' in front of the computer.

I did finally hear from the Company, but it was a termination notice. I get them all the time. Seems if you are inactive for more than one payroll period, they consider you terminated. It doesn't disqualify from a re-hire, just clears the books for them I guess. If that project had started a couple weeks ago, this would not have arrived today.

My glucose and BP were in the good range today, and seem to have settled into a "normal range" for me. I do need to get up to Walgreens to pick up a recent refill, one that I actually need to take yet this morning. Then I may treat myself to breakfast at QT. Gotts love a 52 oz soda (I have the big mug) and a couple brats from the roller machine. Or maybe I'll just do Whataburger. Either way I have an hour or so until Walgreens opens.

No major plans this weekend. Saturday I know the Post is having brisket dinners for $20, so the Wife and I may do that, then stay for the raffle. It is over $12K right now.

Mellow Weekend Outlook

Yesterday I went and completed the labs that needed to get done for the doctor. I am sure I will be hearing from her this next week in regards to the cholesterol counts, and if she is changing up the 'statin' pill I take for it currently. I also picked up the one changed prescription to one of the diabetes pills I take. Another little trip and dropped off the handicap placard application, received a temporary one, as the 6-month one will be mailed to me. Then I went and had some Taco Bell. Not my favorite place to eat, but wanted something quick and not a burger - I had been fasting all morning, and it was nearly 2pm by this point. After a couple days of not taking my meds (makes me sound crazy, huh?) This morning's counts were actually not bad. With the upped med , I'm curious what will become a more regular glucose count....

Nothing planned out for this weekend. I know there are always things to get done around the house, but no major events are planned. I may get out to the Post today, as I haven't been for a couple weeks. The Youngest had texted me yesterday that he does have to attend and play at the graduation ceremony. He was not thrilled, as he thought he was done for the year.

Nothing of any importance that feels like being shared today. I should write up those reviews I have been putting off. Maybe I will feel motivated once I am done here.

Waitin' On Mister Sandman (Again)

Yeah. It is another late night/early morning post. The sleeping aid pill has been taken, and now it is just sitting around waiting for it to start kicking in.

We attended the Youngest's concert tonight. It is the last one of the year for him. Previous to the concert, they did have a band banquet dinner, and awards presentation. Son had said he wasn't getting any awards he knew of, so I chose not to attend. The Wife and I both made the concert, meeting up with RM, who was able to make it. Afterwards, RM headed home (ya know those old people have to go to bed early lol) so the three of us went to Dennys for a late dinner. Of course the Youngest was hungry (again) as he is a teenager. I think the only event he has left this year, is the graduation ceremony that the band will be playing at - though not all percussionists will be needed - and he needs to find out if he is one going or not. He will finish school prior to Memorial Day.

My doctor appointment is tomorrow afternoon. Looking back over the records I kept of my BP and glucose, I have a feeling that she will increase one of the pills I take for diabetes. Will probably schedule me to get some bloodwork drawn as well, to check my cholesterol. I think it is fine, but obviously I have no way of knowing myself. I think the BP meds are fine. Got the forms for the placard ready for her as well.

Tomorrow I expect the license plates bolts I ordered to arrive. Talking about it over dinner tonight, I may just bypass using them until the new plate gets here. I'll just tape up the temporary in the back window. Even though the said it was water-proof, I just don't like the idea of it flapping on the back of the car, or the possibility of someone coming by and ripping it off. Plates will be 3-5 weeks out yet, but at least I will have the hardware to attach once it is here.

Jotted down on my notebook that I need to call about setting up an eye exam. Dunno if I mentioned about my notebooks in another post, if not, and idea for a post later on (making a note for future post). Seems anymore, if I don't write it down, I won't remember to get it done. Like I was trying to be smart this last month, and marking all the events going on with Youngest, or appointments, but when I went to bring it up in Google calendar, nothing was there. I found out tonight, I actually put it in Outlook calendar. I need to figure out which one I am going to use ... or should I just note both when ...that's more work. I'll figure something out - or not.

Welp, I think I am going to go watch some stupid videos or something until I get sleepy.

Ending The Week ...

It is a very early Saturday morning, only because I had a late nap today, and slept longer than the 30 minutes I expected. Just means I am not tired as I should be right now. But that is okay. I've popped a couple sleep pills and hopefully within the hour I will be more likely to get to sleep - if they work.

The Oldest Son came over the other day, and we did get the title transferred, registration, and plates ordered for the car. I just need to get a couple license plate screws and it is road ready. I did ask the Youngest tonight about when he wants to do the online permit test, and 'I don't know' was the answer I got. Sigh. Trying to motivate this kid to get some driving skill is near impossible. The Oldest Son and I made plans for the 21st for a birthday dinner for him (his falls earlier in the week). I already have his present from us - a very nice set of floor/cargo mats for his Rav4 since they did not come with them. He already knows what he is getting, just not how good the quality is of the product. Better be damn good for what I paid for it. He also ran me over to Walgreens, as they had started texting me my prescriptions were ready. But, when I got there, two of the meds weren't on their list (but she found them and would have them ready next day) and they had a hold on the lancets awaiting doctor approval. I told I didn't care about them (I have literally 400 at home, and only use 1/day). So I should go pick the remaining things up tomorrow, run to Autozone for the screws, and Fry's, just because I want to get some soda for at home.

The Wife says we have nothing planned for this weekend, or anything major that needs to be accomplished, so it will be a slow time for us. After doing that little bit of running around, I'll probably end up on the computer playing games or something. I did finish three books this last week, and have a couple more currently to read to do reviews on. Maybe get some of those out of the way.

Waiting For Things To Happen

The Oldest Son is supposed to come by this morning. Since I received the email from DOT that the issue regarding the car title has been cleared up, we have not been able to meet up to get it transferred over to my name. We had originally kind of scheduled for yesterday, but I think it was Sunday he had texted he would need to push it off until today. I haven't heard from him since, and I wonder if he will remember. I know I am not going to bother him about it, but I really would like to get it taken care of.

Things have gotten back 'into the groove' around me. I was so worn out from the weekend - not physically, but mentally - that the past couple of days, I literally had to have two naps. By mid-morning I would be so mentally tired, and by mid-afternoon I would feel that way again. Just a short nap, usually about 45 min. Thankfully, I have still been able to sleep decently at night, for now.

My Doctor appointment is in a week. I think I mentioned before, my blood pressure has been fine, but the glucose has been higher than regular. They had wanted it around 140, but lately the morning readings have been 170-190 range. I know the type of food, and when I eat are factors of this reading. I generally do the test around 6:30-7am, and if for whatever reason, I eat after 9-10pm, it will be high. Obviously if it is heavy in sugars, or breads it seems, it will be high as well. I suppose I could wait until later in the morning to test, but I like to get it done first thing, followed by the pills, before I get something to eat. The first Doctor I had when I started seeing one again, had wanted to up the Metformin to the next level, but for some reason, my insurance said it would not cover it, so here we are ... guess we will find out next week. I am sure I will have to do a lab run as well, as I am sure they will want to see where my cholesterol levels are for the 'stating" pill I take.

Welp, not much to talk about. Time to get the Youngest up for school.

Day 3

These post titles are going to get pretty boring if I keep going on like I am.

Up early today. Woke around 3:30am and used the facility. Got a drink of cold water, and returned to bed, falling back asleep quite easily. Only to wake at 4:30am wide awake. So up out of bed and into the office I go. Which I guess in some ways is good. I needed to get a review up on the last book I read in 2022, as I have not taken the time yet. Got that done, jumped over to Goodreads.com and set my new goal for 2023 (at 200 books again, even though last year I exceeded at 266). Took a spin around the sites I peruse for ARCs, or other books coming out for future books to read.

...and it is only 5:14am now. Sigh. I see a nap coming at some point today.

Only crickets can be heard when I check my emails for work related information. School starts back up tomorrow for the Youngest. I assume the 'City' was by yesterday to look at my front yard to 'approve' it has been cut to under 6", though I never saw them. We spent part of Saturday and between rains on Sunday trying to finish it all up. It would have been faster (and better looking in my opinion) if we didn't have to band-trim around all the freaking plants the Wife tries to grow in the front and along the side. For some reason, her flowers and other plants just don't like being planted by her it seems, and do not tend to live long. I swear, every trip to Lowes, she is in the nursery looking at more flowers/plants. But the yard does look pretty nice, even if it has caused me some physical aches as I am not used to that much physical activity.

The Wife came home last night and asked if I had heard about the football game on earlier. I said no, as I had no care for either team playing now that Washington is out. It was the big deal about a player that had a play, then staggered and fell. After reading an article this mornning, I see it was a cardiac arrest, he was revivied after several minutes of CPR on the field. He is listed as in critical condition at the local UMC. The game was suspended, with no info about a continuation at this point. I mentioned to the Wife that I had not heard, and I really gave it a flippant "Eh." when she told me. These players know thiese risks when they play. I'm sure the player wasn't expecting a heart attack last night, but they know their medical history well enough, I am sure. That's why they risk it for the big bucks. I feel for the player and his family, sure, but not for the the events that happened to cause/because of it.

Day 3 of the new year, and my 'Snack Basket' is still pretty full, and almost overflowing. I had taken not only the goodies that came in it, but added my food/snack goodies from my stocking and other gifts to the basket. It now resides here beside the desk, within hands reach, for when those hungries come visit. I thnk this was such a good gift from RM! Maybe next year it will be a box of 'Snack Basket Refills' for Christmas! Lots of pickles, beef jerky and snack packs to get through, woo hoo!

Today's agenda: Whole lot of nothing. The Wife has a Dr appointment to re-up on her BP meds. I got the text yesterday from Walgreens that my prescriptions are ready. I think I mentioned about a month ago that they called and set me up so all my meds come in and can do in one pick-up versus the several I had to do. Which is nice. And starts this month. I'll wait until this afternoon to go though, as I am sur ethey will call in a scrip for the Wife, and I will pick hers up as well. She also gave me the new medical insurance info to giv ethem. I guess the plan changes somewhat this year, even though still with the same company.

Welp, guess that was the best I got today for ya....

Back to the Grind

Oh, it felt good to return home yesterday from our trip to Tucson. We had done brunch then headed back arriving home in the early afternoon. I had told the Wife I was not going to sit around getting tired/sleepy then driving back late at night, on a Sunday, when there were things I needed to get done prior to Monday morning. She was agreeable (yea!) and so that's what we did.

I noticed over the weekend, that this new HBD med I am on, or re-starting after several years, is making me a little light-headed. I think my body is adjusting to the change in blood pressure. Today I go to get the labwork started. Then it is waiting time until the 18th.

Not much to say today.
