Another Boring Weekend Recap ....

Friday went pretty well. The Youngest and I started around 11am to make up a couple batches of his potato soup. We added a bit more, turning it into a loaded back potato soup. Got it all into the crockpot, and I headed on down to the post. I got there about 2pm, and went ahead and plugged it in on low, to let it cook for about three hours (though it was already about half-cooked). About 5pm, when the dinner started, I put in some sharp cheddar and stirred it in. RM And PT made it up for the dinner, and shortly after them the Brother and his Wife showed up. They weren't invited, per se, by us, but they are members there as well. Thankfully they didn't stay terribly long after eating, and I still got a little time to catch up with RM - not so much PT, because I had to repeat seemingly everything said to him...sigh. I know he is into his years, but it is frustrating - imagine how RM feels with this going on everyday (amongst the other stupid things he asks).... Overall the meal went well, sales were good, and the Youngest got many compliments on his soup, though most didn't know he made it, nor that I brought it.

Saturday was a wait at home day. Waiting for that damn insurance check to arrive. By 1pm it hadn't shown, and headed to the Post. I stayed there until after the Queen of Hearts drawing, then went home. I was so fatigued by then, after having been on my feet more than usual the day before as well. Of course, the check did not arrive, and first thing at Dealer's hours on Sunday morning they were calling the Wife wanting to know if it came. I went to the Post for a couple hours, but there was no one there to hang out with, so came home about 3pm. Wife and I went to dinner at the buffet, and I did overeat a bit. I had (what I call) a mild-sized salad plate (salad, cucumber/onion/tomato salad, a couple pickles, some jalapenos on the greens, and a couple hard-boiled eggs), with a second plate with about 7 buffalo wings, small scoop of orange chicken on fried rice, a small scoop of kung pao chicken, and for dessert, one tiny, pre-packaged, ice milk. And I had 2 teas. But I was over-stuffed - not to the point of throwing up, but I could tell.

So tomorrow the Wife is borrowing the Youngest's car again. I suppose she will until we can get that check and get to the dealership. With her work hours, it will be difficult to do so during the week, but just to get the damn phone calls over with! When we were first there, aside from being frustrated about having to put money down to hold the vehicle for us, everything was fine. They understood our situation (waiting on the check) as I am sure they have dealt with thousands of times. But when they are calling the very next day (a Monday) to the Wife (at work) to see if the check came that day (she wouldn't know unless I told her) it is getting ridiculous. And they have called nearly every day for the last week. I told her tonight, next time to give them my number (which they have) and tell them they have to do all calls through me. So from a great experience, to one of the worst I have ever dealt with, with a car dealership. Bill Luke can cram a cuke....

So being full from dinner, I crashed out early. I don't even know what time it was. But I awoke at 11:26pm, hot and wide awake. I tried to go back to sleep to no avail, so you get this late night post. Monday will have me running to Walgreens for one of the Wife's meds. I'm meeting up with a friend also in the morning. Then it is home and stay home. I am just feeling so tired lately.

Another Boring Weekend Update

Not much went on this weekend. Since the event that happened Wednesday night, I have not been out to the pub (any of them). I decided I needed to get up to the VFW for part of Saturday afternoon. No one questioned me about the incident, so I am guessing no one there knew. Especially considering the only way to find out was to read my blog... since when does my Brother read my blog? I wonder if RM mentioned it to him, and he went to read about it. Either way, he tried calling for Thursday several times, and I think again on Friday, but I just didn't answer his calls, or my nephews. Related texts from them read something along the lines of "I'll mess that dude up when you find him..." and similar. It's none of their business, and like I couldn't handle my own? This guy was HUGE! I think that me being able to whip your butts, you two ain't going to do anything to this guy....

Anyways, so I left the Post, as a friend mentioned he was meeting some other we knew at my old hangout, so I met them. I lasted about a beer, then headed out. It was boring, my headache was back from the ringing in my ear. I cruised across the street to the pub where the incident happened. The fill-in bartender knew nothing about it, but said if I saw the guy come in, she would 86 him. He never showed. I read for a couple hours, had a couple beers, then went home.

Youngest spent the night with a HS friend last night. Sunday night, took the Wife to Chili's for dinner, and now we are back home. No major plans this week. Saturday meeting RM for lunch, then to a birthday party at the Post. Sunday will be our monthly Riders meeting. Pretty boring.

Tomorrow is St Patrick's Day, or as I call it, Amateur Night, due to all the young people drinking too much and being stupid. I think I will go up to the pub for a bit in the afternoon, and leave before it gets late. Avoid them youngsters!

Exciting Weekend - Not!

This past weekend was just *so* exciting. I really didn't do much. Saturday, the Wife and I went and tried a new place out for breakfast. It is over at about 3rd St/Bell and was called Biscuits Cafe. It wasn't terrible. The prices are similar to Ronnie's (my favorite place) and the taste was fine. Staff was good, and luckily we got there shortly after 9am, because when we went to leave about 10, there was a line out the door. From there we did some "errands". We both needed to pick up prescriptions at Walgreen's, then headed west to the Discount grocery we like to shop at. This weekend they were doing a 'liquidation sale" in the parking lot. I strolled down the $2 aisle, and saw the typical "junk" and I found someplace to sit down. The Wife strolled the whole thing (took and hour) and thankfully didn't buy any junk to waste space at home. Maybe a couple Disney books and a small item from the shape of the bag. Then we proceeded to shop in the store (another hour). I was pretty beat by the time we were done and home. I rested for about an hour or so then headed to the VFW. That night the drawing was over $12,200 and no one won, so it rolls again.

Sunday we slept in a bit. Wife went to pick some Yogi's Grill for lunch (rice/meat platters) and I basically spent the afternoon playing around on the computer, or watching movies/shows. Finally into bed around midnight, and slept good. Up at 7am ready to get the day started, except that the Youngest missed his bus, and not sure if the Wife will drop him off on her way to work or if I need to get dressed and take him.

Today I definitely do not have much planned. No contact from the Company, so if something comes in the email today, it won't start before tomorrow (here's hoping). The main thing is to occupy myself so I don't sit here and snack on foods all day. Since the week of the colonoscopy, I'm guessing I'm down 7-10 pounds. I have been trying to force smaller portions, less snacking and more healthier ones if I do have any. Plus, I've cut back on the amount of drinking of alcohol. Didn't say stopped, just limiting myself. I've lost enough weight that my shirts are starting to feel a little bit big on me, and I need to put another hole in the belt, as my shorts like to start falling whenever I am walking or even just standing. Which reminds me I need to call and set up a doctors appointment for March.

Well, the Wife just left for work, and is dropping the Youngest at the school on her way, so no need for me to get dressed just yet (for public that is). I may surf a couple sites and go to bed for a nap.

Monday Again...Ugh

I dreaded getting up and starting work today. Mainly because I figured there would be only about half a day of work to be completed, then sit in a holding pattern (again). It was worse. I logged in at 7am, and there is only enough work for about 30 minutes, with no note at this time of more to come or not. Maybe I will wait on posting this and see what happens first... Welp, not even five minutes later, there is more work and it looks like it may be enough to be working most of the day.

Weekend was fine. Oldest Son and I went and hung out for a bit Saturday afternoon. We met up with some mutual friends and had a few drinks. Sunday I went to church (again, can you believe it) with the Wife and we did Chino Banditio for lunch. I love that place! Rest of the day I pretty much just played games on the computer.

No major plans this week. Work if it is there.

Sigh .... Same Thing Again

This weekend wore me out. Saturday, I arose from bed about 6:30 and went out front. I pulled weeds growing amongst the grass for a bit, then got out the mower and began trim the jungle. Of course, with my wonderful walking abilities, it was do a couple rows or three, then rest for a few; repeat. But it got done. Wife came out and helped a bit too. I skipped the weed-eating, figuring the Youngest could do it, but that never happened over the weekend. Took the Wife out to breakfast at one of our faves, Ronnies Cafe, went to Goodwill (I wanted to see if they had some more shorts my size - they didn't). Finished up with a run of my car through the car wash. Went to the VFW later on, and won a $0.25 drink, but not a chance for the $8K they got in the pot.

Sunday morning I actually went to church with the Wife. She isn't able to make it every week, and I go maybe twice a year, if that. But the night before I had said if she went I would go with her. So I did. I only saw maybe 5 people that I knew at one time. They were doing a free lunch of hot dogs and burgers, but I passed and we ended up at Valle Luna, a popular Mexican restaurant. It had been many years since I ate here. I had the fajitas, and they weren't bad. I was full, and I think mostly from the 4-5 teas I drank - what can I say, I was thirsty.

Monday is now here, and I am "returning to work". I'm on at 6am, and I see conversations about some work, but nothing in the specific channel for the team I was working with. I sent a chat inquiry asking for details, and was given the current information for work we a re completing now. It is scut work. There looks to be only enough for today. Surprisingly, last week, what little they had on Tuesday, before I left for the rest of the week, only lasted a day as well, and they had not been working since either. This is the crap that makes me unhappy....

So I will "take my time" since they say I work too fast. I will be jumping back to my desktop and reading websites, playing games, etc. Only about 7 hour s more to go...sigh.

Mr Sandman Needs to Quit

Hello 3:15am. Why no, I would love to be awake and not be able to get a full eight hours sleep. No, it won't be any problem at all to stay awake all day whilst trying to work. Sarcasm is always good, right? Well, if anything good comes out of today it will be I can start at 6am, and not have to wait until 8 like some days. Which means I will be done by 2pm, and will be able to take a nap (hopefully).

Where did the weekend go? Saturday, the Wife and I did some shopping for food - trying to stock up on some things that the Youngest can take to school for lunches, and some things for me to snack on whilst working. Trying to keep it healthy (more for me than Youngest) but still had to get a couple flavors of Lays chips I had not seen nor tried: Hot Mustard (which are VERY tasty) and Cuban sandwich (which makes me want to try an actual Cuban sandwich). Afterwards, I called RM, and we went over to visit since we were near them at that point. Had a nice visit, and left when my brother showed up for other reasons. Went to the VFW that night. Bought tickets for their Queen of Hearts draw, and ended up winning a $0.25 drink, and the chance to draw the Queen - which I didn't get (only the King of Diamonds) but still won $25.00 for the card. I only spent $20 in tickets.

Sunday I putzed around the house. Caught up on some reading of blogs, some game time, finished up season one of "The Lincoln Lawyer" on Netflix. The show isn't too bad.... Then was in bed about 10:30pm. See why I am not happy about being awake this early?

Today will be interesting. I think there is enough work to do to get the 8-hour day in, but not much thereafter, so not sure about tomorrow. Thursday I have a doctor appointment so would be short day anyways...if we are still working on this project.

Guess that is all I got....

How Long Will It Last?

Monday finds me up with the alarm at 5am, and I'm feeling decent, well, enough that I am ready to get to work. I did a couple personal things then started my log-on process shortly before 6, and once logged in, I jumped over here to waste some time placing letters in a random order so you have something to read. You know you like it.

So... work. This is starting week five of an estimated 4-week project. Good or bad, I cannot say. I can only do the work they give me. If they short-saled the client on time, not my problem, except, it may end the company if they do it too often. Not my department, and it is what it is. Either way, I have a couple things to work on this morning that may take about half my day. After that, at this point, I don't know if I will be done, or if the manager will throw some more my way. She just logged in, so will see as the morning goes on.

Saturday was okay. The Wife and I got up around 9 and went to Golden Corral for breakfast. We had not been there in quite awhile, and shortly starting into the first plate, I remembered why. The food is just so bland. But I did fill up on scrambled eggs, sausage links and biscuits with gravy (though never on par with my Grandma Hankins'). That eve I went to the VFW as they have the Queen of the Hearts drawing raffle. The pot was up to $6,550, so had to try for it. I got my ticket drawn to be able to pick a card to win it all... .and got a 7 of spades. I won $25 (covers the $20 in tickets) and the pot rolls to next week.

Sunday was Book Day. I have one of these every once in awhile. It's where I go through a few of the book sights, look at the lists of 'upcoming releases' they show for the next six months, and update my notebook (the one for books by my side here) with any and the dates they are due out. It helps sometimes when I request ARCs to know what is coming out when. OR if I miss a request for an ARC, I know when I can check for it to be out. Then I randomly start looking at New Authors (new to me) that are recommended to me, to see if they have stories that sound interesting. I did end up downloading a few (like 30) to try out when I have time for my personal TBR list. That took most of the day. I filled in the rest watching a new show (to me) called 'Your Honor' from Showtime. It's a couple seasons long, but looked interesting.

Welp, I wasted a few minutes here, and should probably get back to work.

What's New Today?

Not a whole lot, that's for sure. It is a Monday, and as is the norm for me, first thing I did was send off an email to the Company, letting them know I am available for any project they could possibly have, and yes, though I have worked for them for over two years, I included yet again, a newly updated resume reflecting this information (per their instructions). Hopefully, something will be available to start this week.

Saturday night's dinner went well. I was able to invite the Middle Son, and he was able to attend. After dinner, her 'stole' the Youngest. I went out the the VFW for a bit, then back home. Sunday was spent just lazing about the house - well, for me. The Wife did some work in her garden until it was too hot outside. All in all, it was a typical weekend I guess. I did see my brother up at the Post, and he invited me to go with him up north next weekend when he visits his kids. I have no reason to think they would want to see me, but I told him probably not. What am I gonna do in po-dunk while he visits?

Had some issues with getting my mail program, Outlook, to load in my browser correctly this weekend, so 'googled' the problem and the easiest to fix was to clear the cache. In doing so, I guess it wiped out the login information for several sites I visit daily (here included) so I have been going site to site this morning, trying to remember passwords (if not in my password book) and doing some resets. Pain in the patootie! But maybe got some more down in case I forget in the future.

I did finish one good book this weekend, one of the review ones I need to complete, and it was really good. I already have another lined up that I have been waiting for, that I was approved to read for review. It may take me most of the week to get through it, as it is fairly lengthy. I know I have a couple other requests out there, but this would finish up my review reads for a bit.

Other than that, I will be trying to entertain myself today.
