Back to a 'New' Normal

Whew! I am beat! Arrived back in Phoenix a little after 11pm last night, and back up at 6 for work this morning. While I was away, the Company contacted me and we have a new project starting today. Originally it was to start tomorrow, which would have been nicer, but they decided on today. So after little sleep, from a trip where sleeping was very low on the to-do list, I am up and ready to go.

The trip for the ND Country Fest was fun. I got to meet some really nice people. I enjoyed some really good music. I drank quite a bit of beer and whiskey, though I never went overboard - well for me anyways. I don't think I will ever do a trip like this again though. I am just not in the shape to do it. I did take the cane and use it, but with all the walking, the mud from the rain that came, etc. I am just not physical enough. Don't tell me to 'Well get fit!" because that just pisses me off. I did at least see some good singers: John Michael Montgomery, Brantley Gilbert; and though I didn't meet them personally, I did get some pictures and a couple videos to show the Wife.

Came home to some changes around the house. Back in the Office room, the Wife had removed some "home-made-shelving" that had been in one corner, and rearranged a couple other things. Which meant my desk was piled up with things of mine she didn't know where to put since she took out the shelving. I had to spend time this morning dealing with that, so I got stuff kinda stacked around the floor, around the work chair. I need to figure where to put it now, and trying to get started with work, I don't have time for it right this instant.

Guess I should run along and get some other stuff caught up.

It Is That Time

I am leaving in like.... four hours. Yeah, I should have been home preparing for my departure, sharing time with the family here at home, but I said....no. I'm only gone for five days, unless none of the planes fly properly. Whatever.

So for the next few days I will be enjoying weather in North Dakota, and some good country music. I'm 'told' that I will meet many 'down-home' people that I will miss leaving the state. I thought that when I left Indiana. Good to know other states have good people that treat visitors just as well.

RM, pray for me. I know there will be rivers of liquor flowing, that will be partaken of, and safe rides back to beds to awake and start a new day. Maybe some new epiphany will happen - though I doubt it. The people I am traveling with, are familiar enough with those we will meet/hang=out with (none I know) so all a new experience for me.

I got a couple of my boys making sure The Wife is going to be okay whilst I am gone, though, it may be a vacation for her as well. I honestly admit, I don't like being apart from her, but sometimes it happens.

Here's to ND! And Country Fest! An experience I get to have!

Sunday Morning, and I am Going Down (for the count)

Ugh! Up at the unwelcome hour of 2am this morning. No idea what woke me, but it was a full awake mode when it happened. I didn't feel threatened, or startled, just ... wide awake. I laid in bed, trying to get back to sleep before succumbing to temptation and checking the time. Then I knew I might as well get up. So instead, I laid there a bit longer. Then thoughts of food and drink started popping through my head, and I decided I was going to run up the QT to get a couple jalapeno/cheese sausage dogs, and fill my travel mug with Mtn Dew. So I did. Got up, dressed, drove up there - no sausages. The kitchen was closed - doesn't open until 6am. All hot food available was a couple taquitos, and I didn't feel like that. I filled my mug with soda, and grab a pack of Zingers, then returned home. Breakfast of champions at 2:30am.

I ate, drank and played Warcraft until about 5, then started this post. Not much on the excitement level, huh? No major plans today. Oldest Son is actually off work today (last I knew) and I will cehck with him if he is interested in joining us for a dinner out this evening. Middle Son went to Tucson yesterday for the weekend. Daughter is doing plans with her In-Laws this holiday weekend.

Work has been crazy lately. I might feel like checking in with them today to see if anyone is working, and if they need a couple hours or so of help. All week, I have been moved from project to project at the QC level (3 projects this week) which is weird considering the previous three weeks they weren't allowing me to do the QC work they had trained me to do. Like I said - weird. But it is happening now, so I am not complaining too much. I hope to get past this feeling of the 'speed bump' the company is stuck on. Could lead to real good things if I stick it through....

North Dakota trip is pretty much set. Flight booked, hotel booked, got a couple "essentials" I felt I needed to have for the trip. I think the only thing left really, is I need to get a new set of slip-on shoes (for the flight - I hate having to try to find someplace to sit and re-tie my shoes after security), and maybe a good set of tennies for while there.

Well, it is starting to get a little light in the sky outside the window, so I guess I am going to try to lay back down for awhile.
