Too Early Again

I woke again in the wee hours of the morning. When I finally decided that tossing/turning and not sleeping was enough, it was 3am on the nose. And my stomach was rumbling. I hadn't had supper the night before, as I just wasn't hungry, but the body was letting me know it wanted something NOW! So I dressed and "snuck out of the house" to the corner Quik Trip. A large soda (I know, not good for me but.... carbonation) and a couple jalapeno and cheese dogs later, I feel satisfied. Probably a good thing, but realized I forget to pick up cigarettes while I was there. Will have to try to remember later this morning.

I told the Wife last night to pack up what she needs for the one-night stay we are doing in Tempe tonight. Of course, she didn't. I said I wanted to be on the road by 7a, 7:15a at the latest. Will she be ready? Who knows. I'm the type that early is on time, but she is on time is early - which we all know to not be true. I'm sort of worried for the Wife today. Though she has lived here int he Valley her whole life, Tempe is more to the Eastside of the Valley, and we hardly ever get out that way. So knowing the street layouts, places to go, etc., is not on our easy side. Yet here I am giving her MY Car, to go galivanting about, meeting up with an old friend, and who knows what else, before we can check into the room... talk about Trust!

I'm a bit nervous about today. It is called Member Involvement Training, and they don't ever really say what it involves. According to the flyer(s) I have received, it just mentions dates/times. In fact, for today, 9a-12p all it says is 'Training and Mentoring', then a break for lunch provided by Humana, then the afternoon is the same, 'Training and Mentoring'. So who knows what I am walking into. Aside from that, I believe this is a state-wide Aux event, so there will be many people there I probably have never met. Let's add in the factor that the majority of Aux members are ladies, usually in their 50's and up, so it's like being around a bunch of Grandmas. I guess that would be cool, if they all brought cookies or something....lol. I know from my own Aux our Secretary and Treasurer will both be there, and they both have mentioned they are 'grooming' me for something more, and I guess they will take it to heart even more with me attending this event.

Grooming for more... in some ways that is scary for me. That means taking on a leadership role within the Post Aux. I particularly have no desire to add on to any of the duties I perform, on top of the ones I do now for two other committees. Hopefully this won't happen, but you know how older ladies get when they set their minds...sigh.

I guess I have pretty much rambled on more than enough this morning. I am just trying to kill time, as I don't see going back to bed, just wake at 6:30a is worth any effort.

Weekly Update

Welcome to 2:50am and another post that just leaves you wondering why you even bother coming here to read my drivel. Well, except for RM. I know she comes here to find out what is going on in my life, since I'm the bad sona nd don't call  or visit as much as I should. Speaking of, I may try to get out there this week. I picked up something I thought RM might like, but then she may not like as well. Will have to wait and see. Now I know you will be waiting in anticipation for a visit from me, RM.

Not much going on this weekend here around the house. Last week we had had a good windstorm preceding some rain, and it blew off one of the attic vent turbines on the roof. Middle son came over yesterday and climbed up there to see if he could fix it. Nope. So at some point here soon I will need to go to Lowe's or Home Depot to find an updated version of the vent. I say updated, as a video I saw shoed this newer type, that can easily replace the type I have up there now, without actually pulling shingles and the whole assembly out to replace. He said as of now, it sits on the vent, but won't spin. At least it will keep birds/cats/rain out of the venting to the attic for now.

Last week was a pretty good week for me getting some ARCs fo books I have been wanting to read. I got through a couple last week, and have a couple to get to this week. I love getting the books ahead before they reach the market. I may not be good about writing a review for it, but it is what it is. You know I don't try to "puff up" anything, even if I like it. The next three months show about at least 3-4 books each month I am looking for to be out. So I might be able to swing in a few others I have had sitting in my library for awhile. I think it was a couple weeks ago, I went through my ebook library and deleted many I had have there for some time. I read many plot descriptions, and at times wondered why I even held on to that book/series. So there was a "bit" of them that got deleted out.

Work will continue on Monday. I might have mentioned that they estimate this project going until Wednesday. Which means I expect it to dry up on Tuesday, after maybe a half day of work. Not sure how fast they will be able to move me into another project. That may give me the time to swing out to RM's. I read she has something for me as well, though, she may want to hold onto it until Christmas. Saves a bit more on shopping. Hmmm, maybe I should do the same. I dunno. Sometimes I just don't like to wait.

Welp, I guess I will close this off and ramble off to do something else.

Idle No Longer ...

Received an email Saturday from the Company (admin works on Saturdays?) and asking if I wanted in a project starting today. Of course I said I wanted in. This one is slated for 1-1 1/2 weeks so will see how long it actually goes. When I got the follow-up email from the team manager, I discovered that I will be working with some people I have done previos projects with, and enjoy their company. Most of them are in other states, so I have not personally met them, or even seen a picture, but from our brief conversations seem nice. So back to work here in just over a couple hours.

I am up early today. With a mandatory start time (for the meeting to acquaint us to the project) being at 8am my time. I went to bed a little after 9pm, and was awake several times in the early morning hours. I managed to cat-nap until about 5am then decided I might as well get out of bed. A morning craving for a soda and some 'rollers' (today's selection was Johnsonville firecracker sausages) I ran up to the Qwik Trip. I took up my 52-oz refillable and got some Mountain Dew. I probably shouldn't have it due to the sugar, but oh well. Life is no fun unless you live it to teh fullest every now and then. As I got back home, I hear the shower running... at 5:30am? The Wife was still in bed, so it must be the Youngest up early getting it in before school. Middle Son is supposed to be by this morning at some point before he heads to Tucson for a couple days.

The Wife was taking out a small bag of trash, and while over at teh side of the house where we store the trash cans, she found one of the attic vent turbines. Evidently during the pre-storm winds, it had been blown off the assembly. From the front of the house, I saw another one up against the heat pump, looking like it had been blown off as well. I think I will ask Middle Son to hop up there and slide them both back on for now. The one Wife found was pretty dented and maybe out of alignment, but it will have to do (at least cover the vent) until I can get a newer one. Saw something online that looked like a better deal, and won't blow off in high winds.

Before getting any of my sugary concaction this morning, I did my regular BP and Glucose checks. Both were a little high (typical for me the past month or so). Doctor's office called me on Friday, and re-scheduled my appointment to a few days after it was originally scheduled, but it is still just over a month away. I am sure, even with it being a new doctor, that they will bump up the doages on my meds a little to get me into the range they want. Probably another 5 mg on the BP, and another 250 mg on the Metformin. That size dosage last time the insurance would not cover, but maybe showing that after a 3-month intake, that it really does need to be higher, perhaps they will cover it now. Find out then....

RM& PT celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary yesterday. Today they are leaving town to head 'up north' to a place they rented for a few days. PT likes to do it every year as it gives him a change of location. RM seems just happy to be off work, and had commented that they will probably do the same things they do at home, but at least she won't have to worry about work. The Wife and I celebrated 31 years earlier this year. Time sure is going by....

Guess I should close this off so I can get some of regular computer stuff done before having to start work.

Guess Work

I am thinking the project finished up this last week. There has been no contact since they were supposedly talking to the client on Thursday. I was at least expecting a short email saying that it was done...but no. Instead late yesterday I got an email asking if I was available for a new project starting Monday around 11 am. I went ahead and said I was. I'm guessing that was their way of letting us know the other was finished, and I did not want to waste any time in signing up for the next one. Worst case scenario is I'll admit due to lack of communication on their part, I wanted to be sure I was working. Sometimes I don't understand the Company.

No major plans for the weekend. Was woken early today by the Middle Son coming by to do some stuff with the Youngest. After that, I just couldn't get back to sleep, and the Wife's daily alarms going off within that hour didn't help. I understand setting them for M-F, but why on weekends? Then again, I don't know if she is trying to get up early for a head start to one of those produce thingies. Last week she went, as they were having green beans (I love fresh green beans) and she missed out. They were all out by 9am. I should go nudge her to find out. Wouldn't want to miss it again.

Last night the Wife arrived home from work with KFC. If y'all don't know what that it, it's Kentucky Fried Chicken, and has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid. Only RM's cole slaw is better than KFC's. Anyways, for all the years we been married (31 as of later this month) the Wife has always bought from KFC's competitor (out here) called Church's. Now Church's ain't bad, but it is not extra-crispy KFC, with 12 herbs and spices. And their slaw isn't as good. We have two Churches within a couple miles of us, but KFC is a bit further. Either way, last night she said she got the KFC because it was 'on the way home' even it were a bit more cost. I said I prefer it better anyways. Except she didn't get the extra crispy. And didn't get the slaw. Pout.

Anyways, enough ramblin' today.

Cold Weather Nights

Today's high temperature was to have been 115. I don't know if it truly reached that awful number, but I am aware it was at least 112... at 7pm. It had to been at least near 100 inside my house, though, it was on the cool down. I had shut off the AC for a good portion of the morning and early afternoon, and once I turned it back, things returned to somewhat near normal, though it never yet quite reached the temperature range we keep it at during the summer. I awoke this morning about 3:30am to dripping sweat and a soaked bed, got up to check the AC, and it was frozen up again. Off it went, and now almost 2 hours later, it is still somewhat warm inside, though not nearly as bad as the daytime had been. I will be leaving it off until probably mid-morning.

Reverend Mother and Preacher Tom celebrate their anniversary today. I think it is the 30th, if I remember RM telling me right. I recall when she told me, I mentioned that the concept of them being married 30 years was sort of weird, considering I am 40, and I have been married 21 years. Obviously, it is because it is their second marriage....but it still just sort of seems weird. Happy Anniversary to you both!

Today starts the early bird hours for the oldest son. He is supposed to be 'on the field' by 6:30, so that means dropping him off about 15 minutes prior. I asked him last night how much time in the morning does he need to do his morning ablutions. He is starting to be like me. He says 30 minutes - from waking up to being out the door. I'll be waking him in about 20 minutes, so we will see how that works. I had told him previously, I was not going to spend 30-45 minutes trying to get him up and moving of a morning, and wait til the very last moment to rush him off to school so HE isn't late. Went through that with his sister.

Yesterday I was at a bit of a loss as to what to do with myself since the boys were back in school. I ended up spending part of the day watching 'Eureka' on Netflix. PT was having some problems with a letter, so I went over and helped with that as well. I got to learn how to scan a document, use OCR and put into an editable format. I hope the end results I achieved will work for him, so at least he wouldn't have to try to e-type the letter, and all the formatting, etc, that was included in it. Not saying he could not do it, just that it would have been more of a pain in the ass to accomplish.

This morning, I will be headed over to the MIL's to sit with Dad so she can get some shopping done. For me, that means reading time, pretty much. I heard from my grandparents yesterday. This past July they celebrated 65 years of marriage, so they are in their early-mid 80's. I guess my Grandma had a heart attack scare, which turned out to be gallbladder related, after a couple days of testing in the hospital. It is good to know she is doing fine and is back at home, though the thought of her (or Grandpa) passing away is something I definitely do not look forward to find out about. I know, I know. It's a fact of Life, and at their age, expected pretty much anytime. I just am not sure if I am ready for it.

Well, the alarm clock just went off in the bedroom. I suppose I should think about getting the son up though it is still like 45 minutes til I need to leave.
