Not Quite Michael Buble' ....

... I'm feeling good. Well, maybe just better. I woke yesterday afternoon, the body just tired of sleeping. I was able to get around a little, and spent a few hours in the office before I felt tired and needed to lay down. As long as I don't overdue it, I should be better by Monday.

Nothing much else to say. My phone has been off the past 2 days so not much has happened around me.

I'm Sick

 Not sure from what.

Sunday night, as I was headed to bed, I accidently stepped on one of our cats' paws. She lit me up. My calf area of my left leg (my bad one) has some nice new graffiti art on it. The Wife helped clean it all up with some peroxide andlife went on. Needless to say, I felt fine until Monday night. Around 5:30p I just had the sudden urge to vomit, and luckily made it to the rest room. I went home right after, and by the time I got home, I was feverish, was shaking with cold, the leg was killing me, and yes, I felt like vomiting again. Which I did as soon as I made it to the bathroom. Took a couple Acetaminophens, and decided to just deal with it. The Wife wanted me to go to Urgent care for anti-biotics, but I refused. I don't know if it is related to the cat scratches, as we know cats have very dirty mouths and claws, or if it something else.

I slept through all of yesterday. Fever broke sometime late afternoon, but I am still feeling week. The leg still hurts more than it rightfully should. I will be spending the rest of today in bed, and maybe tomorrow as well. So don't call. My phone is on do not disturb so I can sleep.

Another Early Morning

I think I am at the cusp of being back to normal (for me). Though I don't like waking at 2am and being able to sleep, I know it is because of all the sleep I have done these past few days. I will probably try to get a nap in at some point this morning, then push through the day. Hopefully over the weekend I will get my sleep schedule back on track.

Being sick means not much went on. Yesterday I did get quite a few text messages from friends asking if I was among the living yet. Some joked that the bartenders were saying they were having their worst nights ever (because I was not there spending). I know it is in jest, but the fact some reached out means a bit to me.

RM is out on her vacation with the girls this weekend, so who knows if I will get to read anything from her until next week. Then I am sure it will be about how great my Sister, her Daughter and Granddaughter are....But it is okay. I know I am the true favorite. After all, I was the adopted one....

I spent my awake hours working on my House Comm agenda, as the meeting is Tuesday. I had asked RM about the Microsoft365 and mentioned some issues I was having regarding saving/moving/losing files. Somehow this morning, I think it knows I asked, as it worked fine. Damn Big Brother listening into everything...

That's all I got today.

Playing With The Dead ....

So Saturday morning, I did not call RM. I did go to the Post early, and helped load the totes that contained the flags. I also stuck around and helped make sure chairs/tables were up, did some assistance setting out some foods, and clean-up. By then it was noonish, and I had nothing to do until the birthday party at 6pm, so I had some beer. One of the other guys I know from one of our committees hung with me for the afternoon, and it was nice to get to know him better than I did before. The party came around, and I dropped off my card. Unfortunately, the gentleman turning 80 has some dementia, and couldn't have real conversations. Around 10pm or so I went up the street to stop in at a bar where one of the bartenders I know was filling in, just to say hi.

Sunday was a bit slower day. The Wife and I did a late breakfast at Denny's (well, she had breakfast, I had a salad) after running my car through the carwash, and a stop at Walgreen's for a card for the Nephew. Stopped at the bank to pull cash out, but evidently between Friday and Saturday nights, the two ATMS were both out of cash. We talked and thought it best if I dropped her off back at home, so she could drive separate, in case she didn't want to stay at the party as long. So I did. She never did show up, but I did go. It was nice to sit and visit with RM (I guess PT, too, though not as much). Brother was running around too much as it was his step-kid. After the party, I left to go to my regular hangout and stayed out much later than I should have.

Monday I was back up somewhat early again. I did make the ceremony at the cemetery by 9am, then over to the Post to do our flag raising ceremony there. After that, it was a day. I was still feeling some of that beer I drank the day before, and added more....needless to say, there were people there that are saying they never heard me talk and be so funny ever since they have known me. Honestly, what I heard was all good - nothing bad.

Tuesday, I woke up to dying. At least I felt like it. I said I had the flu, the Wife says it was just a bad stomach bug. Achy, coughing, can't keep anything down, voiding so much wiping hurt, weak, dizzy.... I slept all day. Wednesday wasn't much better, but I was able to keep some Ramen soup down, and part of a regular deli sandwich. Still slept most of the day. This morning, aside from being up early from all that sleeping, I feel 50% better, but not going to push my luck. I'll probably head back to bed to rest after finishing this up.

I do have a meeting agenda to get done by this weekend for Tuesdays meeting, and in a couple weeks need to do the one for the Riders. I'm still having to learn how to use MS365 instead of Google Docs, and there are enough differences I get a bit confused. I blame it on the old and not techno savvy thing.

Now, back to bed ....

I Thought I Was Dying....

... not really, but it was not enjoyable. Last Thursday (a few, scant days since returning home) the Wife brought home a very nasty, very debilitating stomach bug. She mentioned it had been going around at work. She came home after only a half day, then by Friday morning, the Youngest and I were sick as well. Fluids coming out of every orifice, couldn't hold down ANYTHING, aches/pains, nausea, no "will to live"...and sleep. I slept through most of Friday and Saturday, though by Saturday, I finally was able to hold down some Ritz crackers and a little bit of 7-Up. Sunday I was back to about 85%. RM had offered a couple times to bring food over, but I didn't want to take the chance of her or PT catching it.

...and that also means we didn't make it out of town as we had hoped, to see the grandkids. Sigh. At least I will see them this weekend, as they are coming into town for a baby shower.

Nothing else really going on.

A Little Update

I woke this morning feeling much better, so I think I may be pretty much over this bug. I feel for the Wife though, as she is just starting it. She has today off, as it was requested for my procedure, and she said she still has plans to get some things done today, even if she is sick. We will see.

Youngest's last day of school for the year is today. out of three classes, he only has one final to take. Then he is done until 1/9/2024.

Shopping online. I know RM has stated she has done quite a bit of her shopping online - mostly through Amazon I am guessing. I did a little through them. I think in the future, I will be doing more. There were a couple other sites I have come across that had items I wanted to purchase for Christmas, and so I did. Turns out they are based in China, and looks like of two orders, neither will be here for Christmas. I got burned on this early this year when I bought a couple carved wooden canes. Freaking Asians can't tell the difference between AVENUE And DRIVE, so the package was delivered (two months late) to the wrong address. Then when I went to seek reparation/refund, the site was no longer online. So these past two sites, I looked to be sure they were US based, and from all I could tell, they were. Nope. Tracking is in a Chinese delivery, and both said it would be 10-19 days to arrive. I went back to the two sites, and looked closer. One says based in LA, CA, the other NYC, NY. I notice now that neither has a phone number or physical address to contact them - only a generic looking email. I think that is the "tell" for future purchases.

Well, it is barely 9am, and I am headed back to bed. Had to get up to take Youngest as he missed his bus, and I am still tired - in body and mind- from being sick.

It Has Happened ....

Tuesday morning the fever started. Low grade, only about 100.4, but still there. By mid-afternoon it was up to 103. Coughing was worse, ribs hurt from coughing so much, achy all over. This morning, I called and cancelled/re-scheduled my colonoscopy for January. Late morning, the fever broke, but still feeling bad. Similar to what I had a few weeks ago, and I got over that in about three days, so hoping the same here. Unfortunately, the Wife came home with it tonight, starting with the cough and fever. Here's to hoping we will both be better by Christmas.

Not much else has happened except alot of sleeping here.

I Blame The Doctors

Saturday morning, I woke at 6am as the alarm went off, feeling terrible. I was shivering, achey, sick to my stomach. I went to use the bathroom, and realized how much my joints ached (more than usual) and had a few dry-heaves (which didn't help the stomach feeling). The Wife woke as I crawled back into bed, and stole most of the covers (I was freezing and shivering) and she commented my core felt extremely hot, as if I had a fever. Well, I tried to nap for an hour or so (no luck) before we had to get he Youngest up for practice before his concert. Wife made me check my temp, and it was 100.5 - so back to bed for me.

The Wife ran Youngest to his concert, then ran by the grocery (at my request) to pick up some soda, similar to Sprite, so I could have something to drink aside from water. She also picked me up some chicken noodle, she said. Near noon she had to leave to pick up Youngest's girlfriend, then to the concert. I opened up one of the soup cans she had picked up, without looking, and realized something was wrong. It was a yellow glob of who-knows-what. I checked the can. She had grabbed two cans of Cream of chicken, condensed. I added water to eat, and heated it since it was already opened, thinking I could drink it like a broth. Nope. Was nasty tasting. Into the drain it went. When Wife got home later I pointed it out to her, and she was upset at herself. Told her not to worry, as she also picked up some granola bars, and I had a couple of them instead. Last night was some pasta and beef, as I didn't want anything heavy. I had tried to stay awake most of the day, so I would sleep last night, but had to go to bed about 8:45, yet here I am at 3am.

Still not feeling quite up to myself yet. Fever is gone, but still feeling a bit weak and ache as well. I blame going to the doctor last week....

Still Not Better

I made it until 4:30am before I woke this morning. Not bad considering I took a night-time cold medicine, two sleeping pills, and some acetaminophen, then retired about 10pm. I knew there was no going back to sleep, so did a quick run to Qwik Trip for some sodas and a couple brats for breakfast. Overall I am feeling much better than yesterday. Still have a lingering cough/sore throat, plus some congestion in the nose. Last night, once home from work, the Wife mentioned her nose has started to run constantly, and she has started coughing. I may have given it to her. She sent off a text to her boss last night, giving him a heads-up she may be sick this morning. I have not bothered her as of yet (too early) to see how she is feeling.

I don't remember offhand if I mentioned that yesterday when I notified the Company I would not be working due to being sick, they had responded that the Team was in a holding pattern until further notice. At least I'm not losing money by being sick.

Yesterday was spent with much sleeping, and little else. I did get a few times to get on the computer, but could never sit there for long before I felt tired and had to lay down again. Today, I am sure I will be here for longer periods, just to keep from going insane - especially if the Wife is home sick.

I checked my daily blood sugar level - it was the lowest I have seen in awhile. Must be from being sick. And because I know you readers that come here daily, everything ended coming out fine from the backside. Seven trips throughout the day, but it finally released. I sweat at times I could feel the release of pressure and the bowel going down in size....

Guess I should mosey on out of here, and get other things done.

They Got Me!

It's just after noon on this Wednesday as I sit and try to type this post out. I'm sicker than a ...well, I'm pretty sick. Woke this morning to congestion, watery eyes, sore throat, the chest congestion dropped deeper... and I ache - ALL OVER. I mean, my hair hurts. I was feeling better yesterday, but it must have been the eye of the storm. Wife said there was some dayquil with our meds, so I have taken a couple today already. Need to be better by Saturday.

I emailed off to work this morning that I would not be online today. Thankfully they messaged back that the team is in a holding pattern anyways, and to await further instruction to our home emails. Kinda good.

Here's a crappy topic. I have been 'backed up' for the past 4-5 days. Not a good thing when I usually go at least once a day. I thought we had some exlax here, but I can't find it. So I went and 'forced' some action. Very little action. But after sleeping a couple hours, I feel a little nudge there, so maybe ready to do some more. Let's go find out...

Bugs! I Caught One!

Early on in the afternoon yesterday, as I was nearing the end of the work day, I started a cough. Just a little thing. My allergies had been a bit worse than usual the past week or so, and yes, the eyes were watering a bit, causing the nose to flow. I put it off to that - some drainage that tickled the throat. It was not a full cough, just one of those ones to 'clear the throat', but it was getting more frequent as the afternoon turned into evening. By about 10 pm, as I prepped for bed, it was much worse. And I came to the conclusion I must have gotten some sort of virus or something.

This morning I am up at just before 3am, coughing. Very little mucus, but what comes up doesn't look like the normal stuff (from what I remember last time having similar issues). Time to self-medicate! I grabbed the Vicks, got a good chest rub on, and found some mucus relief pills - though as of right now, I haven't taken the pills - seems like there isn't much mucus as of yet - but I am prepared. Either way, the only symptom I have is this cough. Otherwise, I feel fine. Weird. Irritating. Very irritating.

Work went on yesterday. I told the Wife early on that there wasn't much, then they added more. By just short of noon, again, we were running short, and they added more. By the time in the afternoon where it was my time to log off, they were almost out again, so who know what I will find this morning.

Well, in just the short time since I did the Vicks, the coughing has settled down a bit. I may go back to bed and try to sleep some more....

Still Dragging

I "slept in" this morning a couple hours. Thankfully, my work schedule is somewhat adjustable as needed, and I can do that. Still feeling a bit achy, but not as bad as yesterday or days previous. A bit foggy headed as well. So I go in to log into work, and the remote desktop application does not want to be found on my computer. It was fine yesterday. Where is it now? I have no clue. I ended up downloading the installation software, removing the previous version, re-installing, then it worked. Whew, only 15 minutes behind the schedule I wanted to start at. I log in to see a message stating if no work was posted, to come back in an hour, posted about an hour previous to my logging in, so I waited a bit. Ten minutes later, people are asking about work, then stating they will log off and check back in an hour, so I logged off, planning to re-check in about 45 minutes. They did say we are coming to the end of this project (a week and a half earlier than they said) so may end up waiting on another project.

Today that doesn't bother me though. Since I am still not feeling 100%, I'll take the time to rest up.

Nothing much else to do today.

Still Not There Yet ....

Two days down being sick, and yet it is lingering. Today I only feel achy in the joints, yet have a very large feeling headache pounding pretty much all around my head. I'm tired, yet slept so much in naps yesterday, I had a hard time getting to sleep and staying that way last night.

No, I have not "taken" anything for it. I was guessing it was more of a stomach bug, like I ain't some bad leftovers, because the nausea I was feeling, but I have no clue now. I think I will finish up the aspect of the project I was working on Friday, and let the TLs know I am taking the rest of the day off to shake the rest of this. It sounds bad coming off a three-day holiday weekend, but it is true.

So, with whatever is bringing this onto me, has also done a number in my slumber time. I woke one time this morning, recalling quite a bit of some lucid dream I was having. I have made some notes, and over the next couple days, I am going to try to piece it back together, and see what kind of story it makes...

Up and Ready to Crash

OF course I woke only 10 minutes before the alarm was to go off. I know there is no reason to just lay in bed, so up I am.

Yesterday was miserable. I woke feeling tired and achey, kind of foggy-headed. Checked my sugar ( a little high - BP was good) and had a liter of water. All day long I felt like this, sometimes with a slight rise in temperature. I almost felt like I was dehydrated, or had been in the sun too long, but neither should have been the case. I drank a total of 3 liters in the morning of water, and large coke at lunch. Laid down for 3 hours int eh afternoon, but could only catnap if any sleep. We met up last night for dinner with the oldest Son to finally celebrate his bday (about two weeks ago) and about halfway through dinner I started feeling a little better - maybe it was the four glasses of tea I had had by then? Went home, and by bed time (early for me) I was back to not feeling well.

It carries into this morning. The Wife has to work today. My work day was optional, and I intended to work, but I just don't feel well this morning. I think I will call out, or wait a couple more hours and see if I feel better.

Going Mental

The last couple of weeks have been somewhat ... different. I say that in a way, that I don't mean my daily routines varied so much, or major catastrophes happened. It's just been different. I noticed that I have felt a higher amount of tiredness - not necessarily sleepiness, just overall tiredness. My mental state has been pretty blah ... just not worth getting excited about anything. My friends have noticed that I am "quieter than normal - not being a s chatty". In doing some self reflection, I see that now. I have no idea what started this, nor how long it will last.

I 'emailed in' sick yesterday. I said I was not feeling well (I wasn't) and that I would need a couple days to hopefully get over it. Why? I don't know - I just did. I did not feel well - physically was weary, and another pain (talk soon). I was achy in an almost flu-like way. I was not hungover, I just didn't feel good. I did catch some extra sleep, but it left me feeling worse off I think than before. Probably the reason I am up and awake at 2:45 in the morning. That, and the back-to-back dreamings I had that woke me with my heart racing. I won't go into detail, as it isn't important... just was.

Sunday night I had the Wife take a look at my lower left leg. the partial front and outer part of my calf had started hurting that day, and it felt feverish, and tight, like the skin was going to split open. She wasn't sure what it could be, but thought it might be a skin infection from when I had the car accident last April. This was the leg that had gotten some scratching on the shin from the dashboard edge. Her other thought was "compartmentalized something or other". No clue what that meant. It could be just an inflammation of some sort. I took some acetaminophen and stayed off it. Yesterday it still ached to the touch, and when bearing weight, though it didn't seem as bad as Sunday. This morning it is still touch sensitive, and I'll drop a couple more pills before trying to lay down again at some point.

Maybe my mental state is just the body getting old on me. I have no clue.

Back to the Grindstone

Last week I had finally gotten an answer to the email I had sent off to the Company. I had written about the numbe rof project starts I had been receiving, but was not credentialed/licensed to be able to participate in, and wondered had my name been added to the wrong recruitment list(S). The way I read the received reply, was that there was some kind of 'glitch in the system' and I was not the only employee having the issue.

What is important, is it seems to have been fixed, manually, and I start a new project today. Though, I se in my email this morning (again) another project start time/date that I am not qualified for. Today's project is expected to last a minimum of three weeks, but could last longer. I am totally okay with that. The longer, the better.

I am feeling much better now, thna I was last week. Whatever 'bug' that was bringing me down left Friday. I did end up going to the hockey game Saturday, and enjoyed the time. Though was upset about Purdue losing to Michigan, admittedly, I wasn't expecting them to win. Sunday morning came football, and of course, my Washington team ends their game in a tie. Monday was spent doing pretty much nothing, except signing up for this project.

Christmas shopping is still going on. I think it was Friday, the Wife, sitting behind me, messages me a picture of a mini-chainsaw. So I turn and ask her, is this a gift hint? Yes, she replies. So Saturday, while she was not around, I ordered her one. At least it wasn't tarps and a shovel. I still have a few presents that need to arrive (All say shipped now). I should go through and check the tracking for all this morning before work.

This Ain't Fun

I awoke this morning at 5am, to the sound of a bedroom door closing. That means Youngest Son as up - probably for a bathroom break. Then again, at taht hour, it could be Middle Son coming by after work, though I think he had taken this week off on vacation. Either way, I laid there in bed for about ten minutes before I realized that I Was not going back to sleep.

Sleep. I have done more of that this week than just about anything else. Thursday I was just miserable again. And this not being able to hold down food is getting annoying. The Wife cooked up a mixture of green beans, corn, rice and turkey last night - not quite a soup - and for once it stayed dwon, so with leftovers today, I may start getting lucky. I think it was a 'chop suey' throw-together from all the leftovers.

The other night, after talking to a friend, we were thinking about goin to the Grand Canyone University Hockey game against UNLV this Saturday night. I've met most of the team, and these college-boys are just super-nice people. Most are from North Dakota and surrounding states. But feeling the way I have been, it may not be a good idea. Once I have gotten far enough into today, to determine how I am feeling, will make a decision and call my buddy to confirm or cancel.

I was hoping to have a majority of the needed Christmas shopping done by now. Of course, that didn't happen. I am expecting several packages today, so will need to keep my eye out. I kno wI menitoned to the Wife a few days ago, things I had ordered in for whom, and for other ideas for those we still need to get for - but no answers from her. I guess we will wing it.

Welp, I think I will see about watching an episode of something on Netflix, then try to get some more sleep.

Was It the Food?

I became rather ill yesterday. I woke feeling fine, and had lunch around noon. IT was shortly after I started having some stomache pain, then joint and muscle aches, followed with hot/cold flashes. I managed to stay awake until around 4pm, then finally had to lay down. I ended up sleeping through about 7:30 that evening when the Wife got home. I menitoned I wasn't feeling good, and of course, she said she was making her turkey enchiladas that night. I did manage a small portion, about half an enchilada, then was in bed again. With all that sleep, I find myself awake now at 3:30am. Still feeling achey, still feeling sick to the stomach. I don't know what it is but it is laying me out for a couple days.

Not much else to write about. I started the Warcraft expansion yesterday, and got a good ways before I felt too tired/sick to play.

F the Worm - Being Early Bird Sucks

 5:11am.

That's how late I made it sleeping in after not falling asleep until after at least 2am. These past couple nights have been pretty rough, but I have been able to make do with at least an hour nap around mid-day. Today probably won't be much different. Part of it may be the 'illness' I have been feeling. A few short days ago, I notice that with my usual morning blast of the horn (blowing my nose) There seemed to be a bit abnormal amount of green-yellow snot. A sure sign that I have at least in some small part, a bit of a sinus infection. No big deal as I tend to get small ones throughout the year due to my allergies. I made sure I took my allergy med daily, and after a couple days noticed the discharge was clear again. But now I was having "drainage" issues. Down the back of the throat, tickling enough to cough. Two days ago, my abdomen was sore from the coughing. Yesterday I felt a bit better, but still coughing. LAst night, I noticed it had dropped to my chest.

So now the sinus infection has dropped, and is trying to start up a case of bronchitis. Over the years, this has happened several times, and usually I catch it, as I started to day on a decongestant, added with some Vicks rubbed on the chest. Hopefully a day of this and it will clear up (like normal). I would hate it to ruin what little good I feel for the holiday season.

Speaking of that, I guess this morning will be spent wrapping gifts. I tried (really!) to start it yesterday, but as I started looking into the multitude of shopping bags the Wife has, I realized I had no clue who got what, was it actually for one of the kids, was it for some one else? I gave up. Last night I explained it to the Wife and she had already split the gifts amongst the kids, and labeled which bag was to whom, and all were from us. The Youngest had already picked out what he was getting his siblings and had those in his room to wrap himself. Definitely makes this easier, and I think I can knock it all out within a couple hours over the next couple days.

No word from the Company for a project. I am not surprised with this holiday week and all. Hopefully by the first part of next week something will come along.

A bit after 6am now, guess I should get the Vicks on now that I just took the pills for the morning.

Feeling Good - Well, Better, Anyways

I've been up all of  minutes this morning, and I am waiting to find out how I am feeling, health-wise, today. Why do I have to wait? Am I not able to tell from the *snap, crackle, pop* of getting out of bed for morning absolutions? Sometimes yes, most times no. I wear a CPAP at night to help with my apnea, and when it comes to my allergies, or anything sinus related, I have to wait sometimes up to an hour afterward removing the CPAP to find out how I am going to be. The CPAP just makes breathing so much easier, with the cleaner air (filter). So far, it feels like maybe the sinuses have finished that final "running" from the head cold. I am sure I will know soon.

As I stated yesterday, I did get a new project for work. It is supposed to last only a handful of days, but I started in on this one at a higher pay grade (bonus). I do not know if I will proceed to a more detailed position for this project after this stage, but have the qualifications for it at least. If not, it will be off to another one. This week with a bit of a later start, I can work as many hours as needed (daily) as I won't hit the 40 hours/week (bonus). Plus, the operation hours for this one are based on Eastern time, so I can start as early as I want (bonus).

Doodad's birthday is coming up next week, and I just haven't found her a special 'Papaw gift'. The Wife found a wonderful idea for not only her birthday, but Mother's Day for the Daughter, and Father's Day for the SIL. I was thrilled about that, so at least we have a back-up, as well as the forty-three thousand other things we bought her (exaggerating, just a little). I remember the In-Laws, and my own parents showering our first with gifts upon gifts, as for both sides, it was like the first grandchild.

Anyways, seems I am still having some nasal drainage (great to hear about from someone else first thing in your day, right?) and it is making me cough a little. guess another day of OTC cold pills to help. Off to start the work day!
