Today is the Day

Yesterday, late in the afternoon, the email came from the Company. Today we are having the meeting to start work on this project. Allegedly they have fixed whatever they deemed the problem was, and everything should work fine. I'm not holding my breath....

So, I'm sitting here at 8am, still waiting for this thing to start. I really could use another hour of rest (in my opinion) but it is what it is.

Nothing else exciting going on. Next week we leave for Ohio. Still not sure how I feel about that, but hoping things work out that I will get to visit my sister and Uncle as planned.

I ordered some new shorts for the trip. They should be here Thursday. The SIL emailed me back (re: my computer) and said I had tried the things he would have tried. So it sounds like it is the power supply. I should order one today so I can replace it this weekend, though I'm leery putting out the $$ if I am not 100% sure it is the issue. SIL said he was going to check out another idea and get back to me, so maybe I will just wait.

And of course, there always has to be something that irritates me. This morning it is my keyboard. One of the support legs (on the underside) broke this morning. So for now, I have something stuffed under one edge to hold it up so I am able to type, versus the keyboard being at a flat angle. I know I have a spare leg around here somewhere, from when this happened before on another similar keyboard. I just need to find it. A quick look found nothing this morning.

With that, I'm outta here....

Everything Needs To Be Fixed

I never did get started on the project yesterday. There were issues with some people getting access into the desktop, so the meeting was delayed. Then when they sent out the MS Teams meeting invites, hardly anyone could get into the meeting (myself included). They determined it was the Microsoft issue from last week, and to log off until further notice. They are supposed to contact via email once they feel the matter has been fixed. Nothing yet this morning.

But it gave me time to take a better look at my computer not starting. It definitely seems power supply related, so I looked up a replacement and cost. Around $112 for the same brand/model. I also emailed my SIL, who built the system for me, and he said I had done pretty much everything he would have done. He was going to look into an idea or two and get back to me. So I will wait on buying the replacement for now. At least I had my old system, even if it runs much slower.

I'm going back to bed. I'll check my emails in another hour or so to see if there is work today.

Weekly Restart

Monday has rolled around again, and here I am awake to bring it in at midnight. Well, I was, though I tossed around in bed for an hour, then came into the office, putzed around downloading some ebooks, and now am getting around to writing in here since nothing is making me tired enough to return to bed. Shortly, I will be sending the weekly email to the Company to inform them I am *still* available for Project work, should they only reach out to me. Maybe something will happen this week.

Little things going on, to start off the second half of the year...

- My reading list for the year. I caught up on a couple reviews of eARCs I have read recently, and I see I have read 186 books towards my 200 for the year goal. Halfway through the year and I am already at 93% of my goal. That means WAY too much idle time (not working, thanks Company).

- Yesterday I bought the tickets for the Ringling Bros circus which will be in town next weekend. They are in the 'nosebleed seats' but were cheaper that the lower ones. I did still manage to get center arena though, so we will be able to see all three stages across the floor for the shows. I'm getting a bit excited to take Doodad, and I hope she really enjoys it. There will be cotton candy bought, and maybe some souvenirs if I know myself. Depending on plans they have, we may have dinner that night as well. Be a good time to maybe get the Sons out with us all as well.

- I'm going to send off an email to RM this morning I think. I believe it is time for another quarterly 'meeting' where she and I go to lunch or breakfast and catch-up on things. I'll have to let her know what Saturdays I have things going on, and she will have to write back and let me know hers. I am pretty sure we can find a weekend soon to sit down. So check you emails, RM!

- I noticed my 'movie list' in my notebook has grown quite a bit lately. I kind of not like sitting for a couple hours to watch a movie, but yet, I like to watch movies every now and then. I guess I haven't been watching as much lately. Might be from me trying to keep up on episodes of shows I watch. Or I have been gaming more, but we know it ain't from working! Can you tell I'm a bit bitter about that right now?

Welp, I should wrap this up. Got emails to send after all, and maybe a movie, if it will help put me to sleep.

End of the Week

I had some pretty big plans for this weekend. Earlier this week, I had noticed the Ringling Broos circus was going to be performing here in the Valley, and thought I would see if we could take Doodad. Being it is her first circus, we invited the parents if they wanted to go, to share the first experience, as we don't want to take that away from them. Last night, we touched base, and today I was supposed to get tickets ordered for the five of us. I'm an idiot. The circus isn't here until next weekend. I texted the Daughter and admitted my mistake, and we could all just hold up a couple days to re-make our decisions. Mainly because they were going to drive up from Tucson. Hopefully, things will still work out for next weekend, so we will see.

Have not heard anything from the Company this week at all, even after being told there would possibly be a project that would open this week, since so many were pulled off the other project. I don't know. Come Monday, another email will go out from me about being available.

Think I am going to head up to the Post this afternoon. I know a few of the people that hang there on Friday afternoons, and we all have a good time laughing and funning. Maybe get some more reading time in. I am just starting Clive Cussler's Dirk Pitt series (around 20 books in all).

And It Just Piles on ...

Friday, whilst working away as the diligent worker ant that I am, our Team Leads notified us that Upper Management had decided (or made the call to) reduce the number of people we had on this project. They had no idea who, or how many, but we would be notified via personal email over the course of the weekend, if we were being removed from the project. On the plus side, they said this next week there was a possible other project starting, and for us to be sure the recruiting department knew if we were available.

I got my email Friday evening I was being removed. This was supposed to be a 4-month long project, and I only worked it for 4 weeks. Sigh. I sent recruitment notice I was available, and now I sit here waiting tomorrow to see if anything new comes along.

Saturday I never made it to White Castle. By 11am, I was thinking 30 minutes was too long of a drive just for fast food (and I was feeling peckish by then). The Youngest agreed, and we ended up going to Red Robin for lunch. We had a nice talk about plans he is thinking on regarding the job search, and getting his license. Then it was of to the Post....

I arrived at the Post about 2pm, only to find out that the power had gone out just minutes before my arrival. Over the next hour, they found out it was a huge power-out, and would not be restored until estimated 4:30 pm. By just before 3pm, it was extended to 5:30pm. What really stunk, they were having a weeding/reception in the hall, of two of the Post leadership (one's son, one's daughter). So I decided to leave as it was hot with no AC. I didn't get about a 1/4 mile up the road, and see the signal light go from blinking red, to steady green. I figured power had come back on early, but I was already going somewhere else. I did head back around 6pm, and was informed the power had come back on around 3pm. OF course, again, I didn't win the money raffle.

No plans this week really, since I am waiting for the Company to figure out what they are going to do.

Memorial Day 2024

No fancy post title today. It is Memorial Day, a day many people have off from work and/or school, even though many just celebrate it with family and barbecues, without knowing the reason for this day. Friday night, I asked the Youngest if he wanted to get up early, go with me, and help put flags on veteran's graves at the cemetery near the Post. Surprisingly, he agreed. So about 6:30am we were off to the cemetery. We did a couple sections, though quite a bit of walking for me. Estimated just between the two of us, we put out about 65 flags within the hour. At that point, most of the cemetery was covered, as we had a couple school ROTC groups, a Boy Scout troop, and a few other volunteers there helping as well. I was surprised to see only 2 others there from the Post, and definitely felt a bit sad about there not being others there from he VFW to help. I mean, if I can get my butt out there, walking around with a cane and doing it, why cannot they? I know, there may be other things going on in other's lives.... but still. Youngest and I finished off the morning by going to the Post for the free breakfast (open to the public), then it was home.

I was hurting by the time we got home. Muscles had started to let me know I used them, and they weren't used to it. I took a couple acetaminophens and laid down. Ended up napping a couple hours. Went back up to the Post for Saturday festivities that afternoon. Nothing exciting. Sunday was spent resting as I was still sore. Was going to take the family out to dinner, but Youngest said he didn't feel like going out to eat", so the Wife and I went to Seafood Harbor. They have a cucumber & onion salad I love, plus it is buffet, and I was craving salad. I did have some meats, but mostly stuck to the two salads. Spent the rest of the evening messing around on the computer.

Last week I had gotten an email from the company about a project hoping to start Tuesday. Saturday they followed up with they hope to have word out Monday, but Tuesday at the latest. The Oldest Son's girlfriend got the same letter, though she has never worked for this company before, or done similar work. She ahs the Son texting me questions about the job, and I'm starting to get frustrated with her. Why not just call me? Faster than trying to type answers/questions, and faster than going through the Son. Sigh, not my business. I will sending her an email her after this post, that contains more information for her. She is worried about not "getting the programs on the computer" that she will need for the job, even though I explained you work from a virtual desktop, that has all the programs needed. I'm beginning to wonder if she just doesn't grasp the idea. I probably shouldn't say that, but it is true. So here is to hoping to hear something, though at this time, it will probably be tomorrow before I do. Project is supposed to last approximately 4 months ....

Not sure what I am doing after I finish up here at the computer. Can't remember if the Post is open today, though they did do a flag raising this morning (and no, I didn't go).

A Mini-Vacation, or Just Me Being Lazy?

The last couple weeks of work have been making me quite grumpy. Work 8 hours one day, the next only 2, rinse, repeat. It gets frustrating. As of today, I have not worked since last Thursday. Last night I finally decided to send an email this morning. Basically, I said due to the length this project has been extended from the estimated length when I was hired (14 weeks versus the 4 weeks I was told) Life had other things planned that I would not be able to attend any work hours, if work was provided, this week. I would check in early next week, if the project continued, and update from that point.

So basically, I am trying to remove myself from this project. I'm tired of it, at least the part where they cannot keep enough work for us to complete. I knew getting into this line of work there would be 'breaks' between projects, but this is pretty much the first time the breaks are in the project. I would much rather be re-assigned to something that can be 8-hours/day, even if it were only in 2-week intervals, rather than a piecemeal crap like this.... sigh. I'm getting angry.

Heh. Just got a responding email that they look forward to my return on the 21st.... suckers.

Not much else going on. Loving the computer set-up. haven't really sat down to play the couple of games that required my upgrades, but will soon.

Think I may go back to bd for a couple hours this morning...

Friday ... Finally

 This week, sigh.

I think I have bitched about the job more this week than any other I have had. I'm just that frustrated at this point. What's worse, it's not the actual job, but the project I am on currently. I'm on Week 11 of what was supposed to be a 4-week project, and they STILL are no where close to being done. This project started last October! GRRRR! I can't share more about it, but just know I am not happy.

I am happy that the Daughter and family will be up this weekend. We tentatively set up dinner for Sunday evening, and I might be able to get the two older boys to be there as well. It would be nice to have all the kids together for a meal.

Not much to say, as my mind i just set on staying on top of the project... and I am supposed to be working anyways.

Starting Work Today

Well, I hope I am, that is. Since last Thursday, I have completed the onboarding HR stuff required for "rehires", but as of this moment, still have not heard from the Manager of this project, allowing me access to the Remote Desktop and other needed information/apps required for the job. I suppose I shall wait a couple hours, then send an email (if it gets noticed) and place an inquiry about the situation. That leaves me sitting in limbo this morning, if we even start this morning. It would have been nice to have at least some kind of notification if they are starting later this week, as has happened on other projects.

So, that is how my Monday is starting. Up early to get this stuff going on, but to no avail.

Yesterday, the Wife told me in bed last night, that she had a good day. I had started it with a card from me (husband to wife) Mothers Day card. The Youngest presented her later on that morning with his card and a gift of some chocolates (though why she came to me later and asked how could Youngest have ever gotten to the store for such things....). We ended up at Olive Garden for dinner, where the Oldest Son made it, but the Middle Son could not due to work. After dinner, the Daughter called, and she spent quite some time on the phone with her and my Doodad.

Welp, I need to figure out what I am doing in regards to work. Hate wasting time just sitting here twiddling my thumbs if there is something else I can be doing.

First Friday

I finally got to start in on the new project for the Company yesterday. About halfway through the day, the Manager pulled me into chat. Seems he felt the need to tell me there were 89 files that I had not completed correctly. When I asked what exactly he meant, he proceeded to tell me that I had not provided a note in the comment area of each as to what the file contained. I explained back that there was a confusion to that as to what was told through their guidelines, and specifically pointed it out to him. He wasn't happy with me. I don't think this guy is happy at all anyways. He closed out our conversation with asking me if I knew how to self-validate my work, which I said yes. He says "Then do it!" and leaves.

What a jerk!

The projects I have been working on while at this company have been data breach incidents, what we call Cyber Incident Response. This project has that, AND Confident Business Information, which is where I have been assigned. I determined this project has been at this company now since at least October, so all their protocol guidelines are out of date. They provided no training for this CBI area of work I have never done. And when I am accused of not doing the job right, of course I'm telling them what I think. So at this point, I am debating writing an email to those over this butthead's head, and asking to either be moved to a section of the project that I know the work, or move to another project completely. Or I may try to stick it out, as in the meeting they said they would be pulling people with certain skills to other aspects of the project. I hope it is soon, and that I am one of them.

Since yesterday was a shitshow, I went and had a few drinks last night. I have been doing pretty good at cutting back lately, and this morning it shows. I slept through several alarms set for the 6-7 range. Well, some I woke to, and reset for a later time. I finally drug my ass out of bed because the dog was barking like crazy. I checked the door and they were getting ready to spray paint the house next door, and asked if I wanted to move my car (yes). So now I am supposed to working hard, but find myself only half-hearted in the attempt at a workday.

Oh. Joy.

Do I Got the 'Rona?

I hadn't realized it had been pretty much a week since I last wrote. Things around here have been busy (to me) this past week.

Last Sunday we did get to have dinner with Daughter and family. I invited RM & PT, so they got some time with them as well. I know it made RM happy, and I was happy to share the time with them instead of 'hogging' them to myself. I was generous, as Washington won their game against Green Bay (that's what I say anyways). Youngest went back to a semi-regular marching band week: Tues night practice, early mornings, Friday night game. Add in the competition (on the other side of town, go figure) today. Thursday night one of my buddies took me to a Grand Canyon Univ hockey game. I know nothing about hockey, or next to nothing, yet had a good time. Afterwards, we went to the pub and it was college night, so the team showed there for some of the Halloween dress-ups. Friday night, whilst the Youngest was at an away game, the Wife and went out for dinner, then relaxed at home. Today she will be driving across town (a good hour) to watch the Youngest perform, but I don't feel up to it.

In fact, I am not feeling totally great at all. Yesterday, I woke feeling nauseous, and just 'out of sorts'. Nothing would come up, or out, and I skipped my meds just because I didn't want possible extra nausea. All day I felt like this, add in hot/cold flashes, cold sweats, and tiredness. I laid down for about an hour, no napping, but felt a little better, so still went to dinner with the Wife. After eating some food, I felt a bit better, but this morning am still not back to regular. I'm guessing a stomach bug, or flu variant. I am pretty sure it is not the 'Rona.

I feel like I have way too much to accomplish in a short time, and some of it I just cannot completely do myself. Our tree out front had died of unknown causes earlier this summer, and we were able to get it knocked down, and out of the ground. It needs branches trimmed down (and trunk) to about 4 foot lengths so they pick it up in bulk trash next month. Which needs to be done first, as the grass needs mowing, and trimmed, as well before some asshole neighbor "reports" it and the city sends out a notice of grass being too high (very personal peeve). I just physically cannot do it all, and the Youngest has been busy with school/band he has not been any help. Middle Son tries to help when he can make it over. Maybe this weekend we can get his help. Sunday may be able to get Youngest to help as well.

No news on the work front. Still waiting to hear of any new projects. I feel I may have to send a reminder that I am available, just to get their attention.

Have three books I was approved for this last week, so will be busy reading in my free time to get the reviews done. One was a book I kind of was hoping would be coming out soon, the other two were just a couple picks that sounded good.

Monday, January 3

Welcome to Day Three

It is officially January 3rd, of this year. The good ol' 2022, where everything is supposed to better than the last year. Well, I ain't seen anything improving yet, and that includes work.

So, just minutes ago, I sent off an email to the 'recruiter', who is the one I always hear about projects from (at least the past six months or so - it was a new thing). Last I heard from him was last week, telling me 'We will get you into a new project as soon as we have one' speech. But I am a bit tired of that.

Tonight I wrote him an email, stating, long before he was "assigned as a recruiter to me", that I had been with this company, and the jobs were not scarce. They were so busy, that with my skill set, I selected to be on a team to do a next-level job type, on a regular basis, and as needed move up to the next tier, Quality Control. I was trained by those the Company trusted, and I never have heard of any bad performance on my part. I listed names of the Team Leads, the Attorneys, and other Head people on these projects. I openly admitted, since the last contact he and I had had, that the system was going to "kick me out" again as being non-active for more than three weeks, and I would have to go through the whole process of being a new hire (re-hire) which entails the watching of many videos, confirmations of tax deductions, yadda yadda yadda.

I am not happy about that. Why should I have to go through this like a new hire every time, when I have been trained to do more? I guess I am going to find out. If they decide to say, do to my email, that I am just not what they want in an employee... Fuck yeah I'm going somewhere else. They trained me to be more. Why are they not using me? Fucking idiots.

So yeah, I'm angry right now. I re-read the email like seven times before I hit send. I wanted to be sure I wasn't overly pissed off at them (though I am). I wanted to be sure that I stated the facts, especially that they spent the time training me to do more for their company, then all of a sudden I was kicked to the curb for over 9 weeks, and had to do the new hire (re-hire) process not only once, but twice. Also that since each time, I am in meetings where they train people how to do the stuff I was trained on when I first started with them.

Sigh. Pissed off? Ya think?

Sent that email about fifteen minutes ago. He is in New York. He'll hopefully see it in like four hours. Best part, I cc'ed four other Project/Team Leads I have worked with, that put me in, or helped with, my advanced training.

Curious to see the "Company" reply. I may have to look for new work soon.

Unbridled Boredom

An email was written and sent on Monday from myself to the Company. While typing it up, I had to change words frequently, as I was doing my best to place an inquiry, without sounding like I was berating their ineptitude. Well, at least what I feel is their ineptitude. When every two weeks, or so, you are told 'Projects are lining up fast and starting soon' and then 6 weeks later one is still having to inquire about said projects...sigh. Frustrating is a good way to describe this mess, at least from my side of things. Either way, I did get a response to this week's email to HR - and here is the direct quote:

"Yes, apologies that things have been so slow lately. I’m really hopeful projects will be picking up quite soon."

At least I got a response, one would think. I think I should start looking around for another job. This month and a half (plus) between projects is not good for me, nor the bank account. I did have a tentative job offer from a friend, but it is still a couple months off, and I still need to consider the conditions of the position.

In the meantime, I am getting pretty bored. One can only sit around and watch so many movies, or television programs. My reading is over the top - I have finished 186 books of my goal of 150 this year. Computer games are just not keeping me entertained like they used too. All because I don't have the work going on to break up the monotony.

And up at 5:30am today, to repeat the cycle. Yee haw.

Another Two Weeks Wasted

I spent some time this morning, working on the wording in an email I was sending to the Company. It has once again been two weeks since I have heard from the recruiters there, and at the time, it was along the lines of "We have many new projects coming together and will notify you when one is available". I hate being told bullshit, but what can I do about it? I could quit,  try to find other work, or maybe similar with another company. With the Wife still out of work, I need to have a more consistent work period, and this work two weeks, off three, is not a good one.

So I spent time wording a sensible email to the recruiters, and once again, brought to their attention that they are wasting a valuable resource (me) in just having me sitting here to the side waiting for something to come along. Last time I did this, lo and behold, I had an email the next day assigning me to a project. So will try this tactic again. Maybe if nothing by mid-week next I'll try it again. Maybe the squeaky wheel theory will help. It obviously won't hinder it any.

This brings us to today. Friday. Karaoke at the VFW tonight, and my brother is planning on being there. Seeing how it is just afternoon now, I will probably head that way in a couple hours. I have been up there several days this week, not working and all. I like the quietness and being able to read, plus enjoy a beer, at lower prices than at the regular pub.

No plans for the weekend that I am aware of. Yee haw.

I Got Excited!

Earlier this week, I got frustrated, so I sent an email to the Company, asking again when a project was coming up that I could be assigned to. Yes, I am missing work that much! I had received a reply back, that they were hoping to have some some soon, and that he (the recruiter) didn't have the details yet, but may have a project starting Thursday. I replied back if got info on that, I wanted in. Yesterday, I got the 'standard' email stating a project was starting today, and to reply with one's availability. Within minutes, I replied I was available. Now it is just a matter of waiting for the project details (start time, team leads, etc) which I usually get around 4:30am of the day of start.... nothing yet this morning (it's now 6am). Guess I'll log into the work virtual desktop and see if anything is there....

So, hopefully back to work as of this morning, but wondering about that now. Guess I will meander around the internet until I find out.

Edit: I finally did get an email around 7:30 so am working again!

Edit #2: Two hours in, and I get locked completely out of the system. Emailed the Manager, but haven't gotten any response. Wondering how the rest of the day is going to go....

Edit #3: After an hour, I decided to email everyone involved on this project and included the Operations Dept (they handle the techy stuff). Within 10 minutes I had a reply that the conflict was I was listed as being terminated. The Company has a weird policy of how they determine terminated, based partially on time in a non-active status between projects. Since the time frame to get me onto a new project exceeded this automated time, as I was working, I got terminated in the system. So now I have to wait for them to put me back in as a "re-hire, then the project leader has to resubmit the work order that I am on that project, so who knows how long that will take.... Joy joy joy. Maybe by tomorrow?

Edit #4: I'm not very happy. I was able to log back in at 2pm. Thirty minutes later, again I am being locked out of the system. I sent more emails, explaining it all again. I get notified they are forwarding the email to IT. Then I get a reply from IT saying something about a license wasn't applied to my account (???) and it has now been fixed. Need to wait 30 minutes for it to sync, and then should be able to open the email program. Huh? That wasn't the only thing I was locked out of... and I can't even get to that without accessing the desktop/system... I'm so done today. But I need to wait and see if it fixes all the probs or not.... sigh. If it doesn't, I think I have a post for tomorrow....

Monday Morning Blues

Went to bed last night, feeling better than I had most of the day, and aside from that ongoing thirstiness, thought I felt like things were on the mend. I was wrong. Around midnight, I woke as the Wife was coming to bed, and realized I was 'hot" again. Skin felt cool and clammy. Cold sweat. excessive thirst. Even though I got up and relieved myself of quite a bit of water, I still felt the unnatural urge to drink much more. I allowed a couple small cups, and laid back down. For the next few hours it was a repeat. Finally around 3:30am I fell into sleep that lasted until the alarm at 6. Though I still a, thirsty, I didn't wake feeling as I did yesterday.

Not sure if I am working today. My fears about content being available turned true, and logging in this morning shows that there is no new data. However, I see that it was mentioned last Friday, that supposedly more would be available today. So now it is the waiting game to see if/when it appears. If not soon, I will lose some time as I cannot charge when I am not working. Sigh. You would think they would be more on top of this, not only to finish the project quicker, but to keep employees from having down time. It's not always good when your employees show up for work before management, but there is no work to be done.

Well, on that note, I am going to head out and catch up on some other stuff this morning whilst I wait for work to become available.

My Mind is Slush

Had a bad night with sleeping. I would toss/turn for what seemed 30-45 minutes, then fall asleep, then wake, and it had only been about 10 minutes. Repeat. All. Night. Long. I finally got out of bed around 9:30 this morning, knowing I had to work, but just not feeling awake.

Then I log in to find the Team Lead reassigned me to a special project within the main project we are working on. I don't mind that. It means they value my speed/correctly done work....but it is a tedious process what they have me working on. My mind is just 'blech' with the lack of sleep and slogging through this today. I still have about an hour to go to make my 8 hours for the day, but I am ready to just sign off for the day. I *am* presently the last team member online (most are mid-west or east coast time zones). My Project Lead is online if I have any questions, so he only checks every now and then.

While I debate logging out, I am here trying to clear my mind a little and maybe will go back to working that last hour. I am sure my buddy will be calling anytime to ask what my plans are for tonight - if we are meeting up at the pub or what. I dunno what I am doing yet.

Weekend Wrap-Up

Had a different weekend than normal. Saturday, the Wife and I went to the Musical Instrument Museum here in the Valley. I don't know if it is the only one in the US, but nice it is here. I have had it on my list of things to do for a few years, and was glad we decided to finally do it. There was a lot of walking, as this place is much larger than I thought, and I had to do frequent breaks. Thank goodness there were plenty of benches around to take them at. Afterwards, we went to Denny's for lunch and headed home. A friend had called about a few of us meeting up at the pub, so I went up to do that. Three of us going to ND for Country Fest finalized up some remaining plans for the trip.

Sunday, I admit I stayed in bed most of the morning. I was sore from the walking the day before, and just did not feel like getting up. Because of that, my sleeping is off again for the night. It's now 3am Monday morning, and the Wife finally went to lay down about an hour ago. I tried earlier but couldn't sleep so am now back up. I did pick up some Melatonin pills the other day, but this late in the night, I thin kit would cause more problems trying to stay awake in the morning than worth the time sleeping.

I do have an appointment in the morning for the first  Covid vaccine shot. The Wife convinced me to do it, so I figured might as well. I mention that I may have (I was) be a little intoxicated at the time. Either way, both shots are scheduled. Hopefully I won't have any bad reactions. The Wife had some soreness, and was tired a couple days especially after the second shot.

Wondering if there will be any work today. Last week we were told that we would be emailed when they had more work. Still waiting. I need to log in later and approve my payroll for last week, if they ever send me the project codes ...sigh. Been a week and I still don't have them.

Alright ... well, I am going to try to find something to do...

Caught up?

I slept decently last night. Went to bed at a decent hour, and though I woke several times through the night I was able to roll over and go back to sleep. Until just before 6AM. That is when the Wife's alarm went off. Huh? Why is she getting up so early? Turns out the workers are to be here star work on replacing the neighboring fence from wood panels to concrete block. Oh joy.

Yesterday afternoon another work email went out that they are still needing anyone that can to help finish up the project. I don't know if that refers to this morning, but will be finding out soon when I log in. I hope they are finished. I want to move on to something new.

The Early Morning Ramblings

Welcome to 2:30 AM and the state of wakefulness I am experiencing. I laid down for the night around 10PM, but by almost 1:30AM I knew there was not going to be any sleeping soon for me. I have spent most of the last hour going through YouTube and watching movie trailers that have been posted in the last week. I keep a notebook (actually, a few of them) around my computer for me to make notes on stuff. One for books, their release dates, movies I want to see, even songs I come across I like and want to add to my Spotify list(s). Of course, I have another notebook just for websites and the log-ins and passwords. So many sites require a "certain number of digits, consisting of a capital letter, a number, and another type of character" that I cannot remember all of them anymore. Things were much easier when I could use one email/password combo for sites I don't care if they were hacked, and another combo for important things. Those days are long past. Lastly, I have a notebook, literally, for notes. Usually jottings on how to do a feature in Excel for work, or a quick reminder for me to check something later that day. If any notes get jotted there, and are important, they become post-its to be added to wherever I need to add them. Am I wasting paper? I don't care.

This last week for work has been a pretty exhausting one. Seems like each day I was learning a new part of what they want Quality Control to do (at least to this project). I hope this is not a regular thing, as it is nothing like what I did when I first moved into this QC stuff. Either way, it is good to learn this stuff. I get more pay per hour, as it 'levels' up the pay-grade for this type of work. Supposedly, the project was to have ended Wednesday, but Friday they were still working on it late into the night. Saturday I did get an email stating they need anyone that can help to work on Sunday still to try to finish it up. I don't think I will be helping. I want to, and it would help make me look better to the higher-ups that I am willing to go further for the company ... but being up this late, and who knows how long before I will get tired, it would not be beneficial to try to work on sensitive stuff whilst trying to stay awake. So I hope tomorrow (later today) there will be an email stating the project finally finished, as they have already said there is another lined up for us to transfer.

Let's clear some air (for RM) ... Yes, the comment about Tuesday being Doodad's bday and that I said my parents made me think that is because it is true. Whatever day I had come by last, we kinda mentioned it coming up, and  PT said it was two days before his. Off the top of my head, that sounded about right, so I went with it. Okay, so it's three days before his... at least you wrote it down. I don't mess with calendars anymore. Even ones on my phone.

Thinking I am starting to get over this cold I had gotten awhile back. It had been like a head cold for a few days, then just a sinus infection, then it started to try to drop down into the chest. I started a Vick's chest rub throughout they day for the past few days, and I think it is finally reaching the end stages. Probably would have gone faster if I didn't smoke... but oh well. I've cut back pretty good since working from home. As long as I don't go to the pub, I don't smoke near as much as I used to.

RM has mentioned that she recently got her second shot of the Covid vaccine (Friday I think it was). The Wife has mentioned she has the first one for her scheduled sometime here soon. I hope it is free as we don't currently have insurance. I have not placed any thought about getting it myself. I think I tend to lean with RM's thinking, of why do I need this? Everything I hear about anything Covid related is just fluff and dander to me - meaning, I can't believe any particular thing, because there is some other source out there that says the opposite. What/Who is considered correct and worthy of trusting the information? I know I can't figure it out, so I go with what I think. The Wife tested positive for Covid last year, and was advised to 'self-quarantine the family' for 14 days (which we did). Myself and the two younger boys never came down with being sick like the Wife had, and so never got tested either way. This head cold has been pretty much the only time I have been sick since this whole thing started (except for upset tummy every now and then). Am I immune? Have I just not been fully/properly introduced to it (even though the Wife had tested positive)? I don't know. I just have no desire to do a two-shot of a vaccine that I may not necessarily mean. Then I also read today, that AZ Health officials are okaying the us e of the J&J one-shot vaccine even though the issue about a "rare blood clot" chance. Would I want to roll my dice on that one either? Heck no!

Don't feel much like writing about anything else about now, even though I got plenty of time. Not sire if I am going to go to Netflix and watch some shows, or play some Warcraft. I know I ain't feeling tired enough to lay down yet. Wish me some luck.
